It has not grown on me. It took ages to lock onto any satellites and the accuracy is not that good, my TomTom tells me I am home as I pull onto my drive the Navman while I am still down the road. The 3D map view shows the whole area rather than the drivers eye view of TomTom and if you zoom in it reverts to the area within a few seconds. Yuk.

I am very disappointed with it and have requested a returns number.

You would probably make a profit if you stuck it on ebay. Either way, you still have to post it.

If you were so happy with your Tomtom why buy this?

Probably not - for a start it's not waterproof.
  • Hi all.

Just bought one at 209. I hope it is as good as the reviews suggest. I understand that some people prefer TomTom but the guy in Halfords today said they'd had loads of returns of TomToms and problems, but hey, i'm a "sat-nav virgin" so i'm sure this will do the trick!!

Anyone got any experience of using this? What's the verdict?

I thought this would be better as it is a new model and has a supposedly more sensitive chipset. I now realise how good the TomTom is.

The sensitivity issue is worrying - having played with a TT700 I agree, these are really nice, fast easy to use units, but they are just too big for me - I prefer something a bit more discreet, which I why I'm tempted by the 530. I was also told about the problems with new Tom Toms at Halfords. Could the mapping issue be a RT*M Error?

Was able to give the unit a proper test today and as expected I was very impressed. One of the biggest advantages with Navman is the ability to take it OUT of your car and slip it into your pocket, especially in these days of cars being viewed as 'Piggy Banks' by thieving scum.

Just after a 512mb SD Card for some European mapping - any bargains about ?...........

well I can only go on experience and as for the sensitivity mine locks onto a signal in 20-30 secoonds, and even inside my house with no view of the sky at all it picks up a satellite within a minute, I work in the square mile in London, tall buildings and narrow roads every satnav system I have used up there has lost its fix........apart from the 530, sorry but you can keep your Tomtoms!

Played with the unit today. Have had the 510 and 520, and this is by far better. Great volume on the voice, excellent signal reciept - got it within 2 minutes of turning on first timr! Took 10 last time! Its so much better - and thats indoors!

No SD card this time but does come with remote so hey ho...

    Excellent! :)
Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:
