The most impressive salad to do for a "bring a dish" party is Tuna Nicoise. Everyone is always dead impressed for some reason!
Tuna (preferably fresh, but tinned if you must), lettuce, tomato, hard boiled egg, cooked green beans, cold potato, black olives & a french vinaigrette. Don't add the dressing til you are ready to serve.
    However, not very British!

I want to make afternoon / evening (due to the time difference) tea on Friday to enjoy whilst watching the royal wedding.

I want to have salmon sandwiches with onion and cucumber in vinegar (crusts cut off) but i dont know how to do the O&C which vinegar do you use and also do you add water or sugar??

Another thing i want to make are scones which i would love to have with jame and colted cream. I cant (obviously) get cornish colted cream here so what alternative could i use?

I will also be having egg and cress sandwiches and little cakes :) with pimms

Many thanks in advance for helping.

To be honest, we just soak the thinly sliced veg in ordinary malt vinegar overnight (separately). I usually add a couple of spoonfuls of sugar to the onion to take away the sharpness. HTH :D

I like doing the little pitta pockets, filling them with chicken salad and mayo or smoked salmon and cucumber. Mmm, I'm feeling pretty peckish.

Hi, I run Baby Sensory and Toddler Sense classes and we are having special Royal Wedding sessions this week. It has been suggested that we provide cupcakes but I was hoping to do something else...maybe more exciting but they need to be quick, easy and cheap!! I dont ask for much!! I was thinking about cucumber sandwiches and something sweet. They cant be messy either and they dont need to be suitable for the kids just the mums and dads! Thanks in advance!!
