Cheapest PAYG Phone (merged threads)

Indeed you cannot. Everyone has to choose which options they want. Many PAYG users never take their phones abroad and thus the 'Value' tarrif may well represent good value for them. One fact that not a great number of people know, is that it is possible to swap from The 'Value' tarrif to the 'Normal' tarrif and then later on, perhaps after one's holidays, back again.mobilegossip wrote:But you cant roam on the Value Tariff.
Personally, I find that the 'Normal' Tesco tarrif suits me, with reasonably priced European roaming and cheaper calls and texts to my 3 favourite family numbers. Indeed the roaming charges are less than many contract phones. Also, unlike Virgin, calls to other mobile networks are at the same low price. With Virgin, and several other PAYG operators, calls to other networks are mighty expensive IMHO.
Furthermore, in the area that I live, work and normally travel, the O2 network which is used by Tesco is much stronger and more consistant than the T-Mobile network as used by Virgin and Fresh.
HTH.

Agreed, though 5/3=£1.66 per month, which is VERY low usage indeed, so for most people not an issue.pricefighter wrote:Not a good idea for very low users due to their charging structure. From their T&C
"Keeping your number active 75p
We apply a small monthly charge of 75p to your account until your spend exceeds £5 in a 3 month month period. This small charge helps us to cover our administrative costs to ensure we can continue to provide you with the great service as and when you chose to use your easyMobile SIM Card."
A Virgin Payg phone might be better as they dont enforce min use .koru0 -
Thanks for the advice I decided to go with the virgin mobile offer, that was £15 free air time, two sim cards, & free text between virgin mobiles for the summer, all this & a nokia 1101 phone for a total of £24.99.That will do me I think, the big thing for me is the fact that the number remain active even when the phone is not used for long periods of time, that and the fact that you can manage your account on line. Thanks to everyone for the advice it was most appreciated.

Regarding Virgin mobile website...
Remeber you can always visit the site via
https://www.virginmobile.com/lifestylerewards
and you will get 10% off the standard price and £25 calling credit (£20 voucher and £5 preloaded on the sim card)
for example Nokia 1101, sim card with £5 credit and a £20 voucher would cost £22.49
Alternatively remember you can also purchase refurbished phones from the website too for around half the full price.
You can also get £10 off the price if you have a virgin sim card already as you wont need a new one (simply put your old sim in the new fone and off you go)
You can also combine these 2 options to save even more money
for example Nokia 1101 refurbished with no sim would cost £7.49

Hi Williman - welcome to the forums. This isn't really the place to make a request for items - this is where you post bargains already found. There will be plenty of information for you on the mobile phones board.
Try The Link, or as james2005 said Argos or CPW should have some cheap phones along with play.com and Amazon.co.uk.
The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing:)0 -

If you want cheap there's the nokia 1101 at easymobile.com , or more exactly http://www.easymobilephones.com/pay-as-you-go/nokia/1101- You just pay £20 for the airtime and the phone is free. If you buy it going via https://www.quidco.com you will get £15 cashback* (eventually) on your purchase. Can't be bad
