Cheapest phone by far is the nokia 1101 from easymobile.com. It effectively works out as £5 if you go via quidco and you get the £20 airtime voucher

Or the same phone from Virgin mobile for £24.99 with £15 credit

if she's a student she may be able to get it for £22.49 with £25 credit. Click here

You can get the phone unlocked (usually for free) and use it on any network by getting a sim, although the two networks mentioned are reasonable PAYG ones.

    Hope that helps

You can get a refurbished (as good as new incidentally) Nokia 1101 from virgin mobile website for £7.49 :)
Also as mentioned by medic1978 above - it can be easily unlocked for free :)

    Regarding Virgin mobile website...

Remeber you can always visit the site via

    https://www.virginmobile.com/lifestylerewards

and you will get 10% off the standard price and £25 calling credit (£20 voucher and £5 preloaded on the sim card)

for example Nokia 1101, sim card with £5 credit and a £20 voucher would cost £22.49

Alternatively remember you can also purchase refurbished phones from the website too for around half the full price.
You can also get £10 off the price if you have a virgin sim card already as you wont need a new one (simply put your old sim in the new fone and off you go)

You can also combine these 2 options to save even more money :)

for example Nokia 1101 refurbished with no sim would cost £7.49 :)

    TD

I tried this link many times today, removed all cookies and tried, still when I add to the basket I get the price to £24.99 with just £10 voucher. What I am doing wrong?

On some PC's the cookie seems to stop it working. Deleting the cookies from the IE menu doesn't always get rid of them. Make sure you are not on the Virgin page i.e. you have closed the webpage. Go to Windows Explorer, C: drive, documentation and settings, then the user directory which is probably your name, then cookies.

Then find the cookies virginmobile and virginphones and delete them, you may not have both of them but check to make sure. Once you've done this, go via Quidco to virgin, once you get the page open (don't start clicking on anything) copy and paste the link from the above post to get you to the Lifestylerewards page.

That way you'll also get your £8 from Quidco as well.

    2) Clicked the link http://www.virginmobile.com/lifestylerewards
    3) Clicked on "Check out our phone range" and in the next page for Siemens AX72 I get
Get 10% off with this phone, plus £25 airtime.
    WAS £29.99 OFFER PRICE £26.99
    4) Clicked Buy and the basket appears it says £19.99 for AX72, £10 for joining pack and 10 pound promotion voucher and total for £29.99.
    5) After checkout it still says
    Siemens AX72: £19.99

    10 pound promotion voucher: £0.00

    Sub total: £29.99

    I have tried today

I clicked on the link quoted above
Then on 'check out our phone range'
Then clicked on the 'buy' button
    Then got the following:
    Nokia 1101 Price 13.49
    £5 Sim Pack 9.00
    £20 voucher Free

    Total 22.49

It also worked on siemans AX72
I have been to virgin website many times before and did not delete any cookies, not sure why it doesnt work for you.

  • Hi,

After reading these posts, I'm quite tempted by this Tesco 'Value' tariff - especially as my Orange contract is out of the 12 months lock-in.

    Questions:

Can I keep my same mobile tel no' - I think they call it porting it across ?

I dont actually need a phone as I'm happy to keep the same one (which is unlocked by the way) - should I just get a Tesco SIM card or does it make no difference ?

    Any help greatly appreciated
you know when you're getting older - the wife says, "let's go upstairs and make love" and you reply, "I can't do both" !!

You can keep your mobile number. Here's how:
    1. Ask orange for a PAC (port authorisation code)
    2. Buy a sim card from Tesco mobile (this IS necessary)
    3. Once the sim arrives phone Tesco mobile on 08453014455 and they will start the port process. This should take about 5-7 days and is usually straightforward

Once the port has gone through you will have your old number working on tesco mobile.

    Hope that helps
  • Hey thanks Medic - appreciate that - seems straight forward enough :D
