I seem to remember using clary sage oil in a bowl of warm water with my feet in to bring on the contractions stronger, also used rasbery leaf tea.(and arnica whilst in labour -so baby gets a dose-and after,to reduce bruising and swelling).
My first son was 2 hours late of due date, rang midwives at about 8pm on due date and he was born at about 2am.
second son(15 months later) was 10 days late,I seemed to go into labour for a couple of hours, and then stop every evening for the week before, was really annoying, every time I thought" right this is it this time" I went into labour with him on a sturday lunch time and he eventualy came at about 6.15 am by which time I was completely knacked,he was called bullet headfor the first few hours of his life by his dad because his poor little head was completely squashed into an elongated shape!
My daughter was born on the day we expected her to be born(dont even recall if it was early or late) as it was the same date as her aunties birthday, and as soon as we worked out roughly when it would be we knew it would be the same,my 2nd sons already matches with her sons/his cousin!,although she only just waited long enough born at 12.15am!
All were born with no pain relief(appart from the distraction of a tens machine) at home, and were wonderful put painful experiences.Had to have waters broken each time,as they said my membranes were like leather!happens pretty quick after that.I think I pooed on them all as they came out!! which first time round I was so emmbarrased about,I thought I'd done it all wrong! But the midwives were so cool about it and just sorted me out!(felt bad for them though as I'd been living on curry, trying to bring it on for days before!)Midwives are a lovely species,in my experience!! I had all of them on my hands and knees,so second and third time round i was naked except for gardeners knee pads(I reccommend these on wooden floors,as cushions get ruined, and slip around, which I found out with no.1!)
Well I think I've had my lot now,but would love to go through it all again, labour and all, so it cant be that bad! You just have to embrace the pain and let it do it's work, the worse the contractions get the closer you are to meeeting your long awaited baby! saying that,I was told before hand it's like !!!!ting a melon!!! Hmm I'd say more of a pumpkin! But it's only that last moment thats awful, and then baby is in your arms, and it's all worth it.The first time I went completely inside myself and believed I was a bear in a cave and mad as it sounds that worked really well for me!
Good luck to all you pregnant ,labouring people,it's a magical time, thats soon over, then they they learn to argue with you/each other!

oh I forgot to say,as my last post was so long winded anyway. But the best way to bring on labour is,on the evening you want to give birth book a really nice evening out with your partner to some posh restaurant you've always wanted to go to,and when you've just ordered,or half way through,it's bound to happen, and if it doesn't you've still had a good evening out, which are few and far between when baby does finnaly come..so treat yourself, and it might work!
I'm waffling again, but I had gone to the pub for tea with my parents and little boys when I went into labour with no.3,we got there at about 5pm,and the chef didn't come untill 6,labour started not long after we arrived, and ?I was determined to eat, before we left, when I finnised my tea, about 7,contractions were every 3 mins!!and I was having to time going for a wee so nobody noticed,I didn't want people seeing me having a contraction ,and rush to my assistance! They slowed down again when we got home, and my partner had just finnished hanging the curtains(why he'd been left behind,so I could give birth in the living room!)Mum and Dad took the boys with them, and it all worked out o.k!

My son was born two weeks early probably due to all the rushing around i did as only stopped full time care work five days before having him then on those five day painted his room put up cot etc etc husband was not happy with me but it needed doing! it was 23 hours from waters breaking till i had him. my daughter was one day, i late still rushed round loads as son was 14 months old when she was born and i still did care work full time, it was a four hour labour. i think it will happen when it happens, cant hurry these thing but do make the most of not having any children about yet as people have posted already and savour the time when you could just nip round to the shops on your own and not have to haul half your house with you lol! anyway good luck with your births and let us all know how you get on.

A Baileys glide did it for me on my second one and a lot of walking up and down the trafford centre (shopping) it was my birthday and they had a sample table of Baileys Glide out so i had one and dribbled it all over my very ready to drop bump then that night i had it in bedroom no time to get to even the car and the paramedics came as it was coming out a week early as well!!! Baby glides out no problem you gotta give it a go and let me know if this is the latest labour starter or if i was just lucky!!! A friend of mine was quick to come round with a full bottle of Baileys that was well deserved after the birth!!!!!!!!!i should of called it Bailey i suppose if it were a boy!!!!!!!!!! instead i just called her Sophie and one day on our almost shared birthday we will have a Baileys Glide i cant wait!!!!! good luck! its great fun dont worry!!

Well still nothing .....Dragged OH to the cinema, to see posiden good film and thought we should make the most of being able to just get up and go out, then went to restraunt for lunch then came home and went for a swim. Really nice day, i wish all my days were as good as this! Problems is i seem to spend most of my time either crying or shouting at the moment (Poor OH).
My ankles have dissaperd, legs look like tree trunks and strange red vains has appeard on my legs... Really hope they will go back to normal, do they?

Everybodys help and advice made me feel much better, thanks. Been drinking the tea and trying to relax and make the most of my time before she (Rihanna) comes along.

Good luck, hope all goes well, do you know what your having?
Are you fead up of people rubbing you belly? iam starting to feel like a genie in a lamp.. Complete stranges think they have the right to rub you and tell you how massave you look, found another stretch mark this morning, arn't they attractive!! Really thought i had got away with no streach marks but no they started appearing in the last week. Cant wait to have my body back, having to roll out of bed 5 times in the night to pee, and snoring so loudly i wake myself up, the novelty has worn off.
But i keep being told its all worth it in the end..(i hope so)

My first was due early March in a leap year so was convinced was going to be born on Feb 29.
Youngest was due march 31 so was convinced would be born April 1.
