Babies come when they're ready and assuming that your dates are right (that you had a 28 day cycle and ovulated/concieved on the 14th day), then you may have another 2 weeks 3 days to go.
There is a school of thought that says that any form of induction, natural or otherwise can bring on a slow and unproductive labour. These things tend to happen at exactly the right time for Mum and baby.
There are lots of ways to irritate your uterus which can cause contractions and many women suggest that whatever they did in the days preceding their own labours in fact induced labour but there really is no proof that many of these interventions work.
Common ones are prostoglandins in semen, oxytocin released during nipple stimulation and orgasm, pineapple which contains bromelaine (sp_ which is similar to prostoglandin, castor oil, curries and garlic all can irritate the uterus too whic can induce contractions.
Is it your first baby?Just run, run and keep on running!0 -

I agree with Al ... sex might start you off, apparently there's something in seminal fluid that works in a similar way to the pessary they use in hospitals.
Let us know how you get on !!! :eek:There's no woman sicker than the woman who is sick on her day off !0 -
Our posts must have crossed !!!
Enemas are also meant to work ... though unsure how you self-administer.There's no woman sicker than the woman who is sick on her day off !0 -
rhubard crumble !!! worked for me !!!
my midwife knew my dh & i were not up for sex, who is at 40 weeks + 5 ? ? ........ but she did advise i perform a certain act and swallow !!!!! i had extra helpings of rhubard instead !!!!!!!0 -
If you can't manage the sex, a bit of 'self help' (if you know what I mean
) as often as you like, can also start your contrations.

Have you tried this site:

great for pregnacies, tips, and chatting with other overdue women.
Sex was the main tip I tried (DS2 was 10 days late) I was also advised to try castor oil, but if anyone tells you to...DON'T LISTEN - it's not good for the baby.
Ps - good luck for when things do start happening!! xCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. not sure how this is supposed to work, it is the semen's direct action on your cervix that can induce labour, not digesting it :rotfl:0 -

sooo i suggest hanky panky!

rasberry leaf tea (you can have it in capsual form as well) is fab, it tones the uterus ready for labour and can also stimuate contractions to begin as its doing this. I took it with my last and I only had a 2 hour labour with him as apposed to 9 with my first and I belive that the rasberry leaf tea.
As for aything else I can only reiterate jay jays post to you, the nipple tweeking is supposed to work as it makes the uterus contract (as it does during breastfeeding, same principle) but you do have to do it a lot, about 20 mins every 4 hours, it didnt work for me.
the main thing to remember that no matter how hard you try, your baby wont go into labour until ITS ready, and only then will the stimulants work.
Good luck :beer:Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0
