  • Update: It's arrived!

The usual (and nice) HDNL man that deliveres to my area all the time brought it not too long ago (someone stayed home for me to recieve it as the update this morning was "on delivery van"). He confirmed that he's been delivering to my area since last week & he doesn't know why the parcel wasn't given to him to take out.

There is some kind of delivery report attached to the parcel - it seems that it only moved yesterday due to the complaint I made to them which was forwarded to the "Escalated Query" dept... by the looks of it, it was sat in the depot for all this time. Even the courier was confused by this.

I had issues last year, reading this brings back so many horrible memories.
It continued for 6 weeks... eventually I wrote to Argos who gave me £30 of gift vouchers and wrote to Elaine Boyle at HDNL who sent a £10 cheque to cover the 11 calls I'd made.

Later in the year I faced the same trouble with an Amazon parcel... I emailed Amazon customer services requesting that my parcels in future be delivered by Royal Mail and they couldn't, but said that the comments would be added to the presumably very long list.

I was just wondering this morning where my Play.com parcel was :(... didn't realise it was HDNL... here we go again...

Play do not send everything via HDNL. Check your order history on play.com: if HDNL has been used, the 16-digit tracking no. will be displayed in the despatch field.

I hope you don't have to go through that again... :(

I've just received an email of apology from Topshop after the complaint that I sent to them, and a refund of my Express Delivery Payment. They say thay'll be taking the matter up with HDNL too... if they do, that would be interesting indeed...

I have had issues with HDN although not as bad as many of you guys

Usual story, took the day off work to wait for a parcel sent from the BT Shop via HDN, paid for express shipping.

I waited and waited...no parcel, looked it up at the online tracking thing..it had been sent back to the depot as I was supposedly not in. Which was a load of rubbish, they had not even put a card through the door. I also have a dog at home that barks at the door bell, the car pulling up into the drive, car doors closing outside etc.. and I am sure he would have let me know that someone was at the door!.

anyway I got a refund from BT for the express delievery option and thankfully I received the parcel the next day.
  • Well, my desk that was allegedly shipped on 22nd December has had its first scan at the Blackpole big / heavy items hub on 11th January (!). I thought it might be a good idea to call HDNL and get them to annotate their records with instructions to leave with neighbours in case we are not in.

They said they could not do that because Blackpole was a separate operation, but gave me - a freephone no.!! to contact them direct: 0800 0151509.

Now I have been trying to call that for the past couple of hours and constantly get nothing but a recorded message saying "sorry, lines are busy". What a joke!

I purchased an order from pets at home. It was being sent by HDNL. This morning one item from that order turned up. So I looked at the tracking and it should have been all coming at once. I phone our local courier who deal with HDNL stuff and they don't have the rest of my order. So I phone HDNL in Aberdeen where my order came from. No They haven't got it. I then phone pets at home. Who contact Aberdeen HDNL who then miraculously find the rest of my parcels. So why they weren't there when I phoned 10 minutes earlier? Awaiting for them to arrive tomorrow we'll see what happens
  • HDNL have been keeping track of this whole thing since I sent in the email of complaint... they kept on emailing me last week to confirm details of when I made the calls to them chasing my item etc and which numbers I rang from.

Not too long ago, they dropped me an email with a very detailed apology, a statement about the advisors I spoke to being "investigated" (as sadly it wasn't a very nice experience with them) and a refund for the cost of the calls I made... which I wasn't expecting at all.

It's nice to know that my complaint didn't just vanish into the system & a nice surprise that they are following it though.

I got home last Wednesday to find a package posted through our door. The thing was the package was addressed to number 58 and we're number 42. I'm not quite sure how you can mistake 42 and 58, particularly if you're a 'professional' delivery person. We did eventually post this through the door at number 58 but we had to wait until Saturday to do so. Basically we leave home early in the morning and get home after dark and a large number of our neighbours unfortunately believe that the pavement outside their house exists to provide them with a personal parking space. The prospect of walking down the middle of the road after dark didn't appeal so number 58 had to wait an extra three days for their goods.

Anyway later on Saturday I found a card from HDNL which had been pushed through the letter box. I'm not sure when this had arrived but it said something to effect of 'Please deliver to number 58, posted in error'. I suspect this had been posted on the Wednesday and one of my kids had picked it up.

I know that one of our neighbours buys a lot of stuff on-line and this made the cynic in me wonder if perhaps the HDN driver had made a delivery next door, decided he couldn't be bothered to drive all the way down to number 58 and thought it would be easier to 'accidently' post the package through the wrong letterbox? Maybe that's a bit far-fetched but it's difficult to understand how he or she could have been so wide of the mark otherwise.

So if you are waiting for a delivery from HDNL it's possibly because the unpaid volunteer eight doors away hasn't yet had the opportunity to redeliver it to you.
