Anyone had a call from Accident Investigation Bureau?

Some hospitals (the one I worked at, for example) decided that, to save money, they would outsource the audio typing rather than pay experienced UK based medical secretaries to do the work.
Guess where?
That's right - India.
Some of the centres work for more than one client.
I made myself unpopular with management by asking the person describing the new NHS computer system (yes, that one) exactly how safe was it to send a person's medical details, mother's maiden names, etc - because the letters were produced on the patient computer record system and they were giving the overseas company access to it - when the same company could well be dealing with their bank or credit card account (as stated by the NHS bod as justification that the system would be secure 'they already deal with bank accounts, so they can keep details secure')
I wouldn't be surprised if all those people who had medical treatment within the intervening period are going to get a call eventually.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Received a call today from Acc Inv Bureau, caller said his name was Mark but could hardly speak the English language. He tried very hard to obtain information about an "accident" we apparently had, but he would not answer my questions, I eventually hung up.0

Hey people
I have never received a call from accident investigation bureau !
Perhaps its my chilled attitude.0 -
They never give up! I have just had an identical phone call - indian sounding man and from the background noise he was in a call centre. He hung up when I asked him for details of the accident.
It is a case, yet again, of making sure one never, ever gives personal information to anyone without making sure the source is known and valid.0 -
I've just had the same call from Mark, AIB - his english again very bad. When I asked where he got my phone number from he hung up0

I had a call a couple of days ago...similar experience to the other posters (indian accent etc). As it happens, I had had to take my son to A&E the day before ... was this just fortunate timing on their behalf, or could they really have known this?
Like many others on this thread, I had a bit of fun with them before hanging up, but given the timing of the call, I could have easily believed their story (just lucky I'm a born cynic!)0 -
I had an accident a few years ago- nothing major- a guy came through a junction and took the front end off my car. Felt sorry for him- he told me he'd been thinking about which type of coffee he was going to buy in Starbucks, and just didn't look. Happens.
Neither of us was hurt, though his car came off significaltly worse than mine- I had spare parts lying around everywhere, so mine was on the road a couple of weeks later.
His was in the scrappy....
Never even thought until I read this thread- I'd had a call from the Accident Investigation Bureau.... They'd said they were authorised to work on my case following my accident. Initially talked to them- they phoned two days after I'd been hit.
Kept trying to convince me to pursue a whiplash claim, which I wouldn't do. I didn't have whiplash, and the man who hit me was a nice bloke.
Kept asking for my details- and still believing they were legit at this point- started asking them why they didn't have any, if they were acting on behalf of my insurance company.
Put the phone down when they couldn't tell me who my insurance company was!0 -
Just had a call from AIB, I asked him who they where and could hardly understand a word he said, after 24 mins of me asking him to speak English HE hung up0

I was wondering whether I would get a call from this company and I did not!
If I did then I would probably ask some questions and if I became suspicious I would hang up.
Thanks,0 -
Glad to find out the name of the company who kept DH amused for 10 minutes describing the "accident" he wasn't involved in!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0
