I really hate reading about companies or scammers like this. My mum has Alzheimer's and I have had to stop her giving out information to strangers on the phone before. It's the vulnerable who are likely to fall for this

I haven't delt with these particular people but last year whilst visiting my nan(80) a 'mobile phone' supplier called and asked for her, i asked what it was regarding and this man wouldn't answer me just asked for her. I refused as it didn't sit right and he told me to 'go f**k off then'.
    wondering what to do next......:undecided

Had a call purporting to be from "accident investigation bureau" last evening. He couldn't or wouldn't tell me much, so I rang off. Caller sounded Indian and when I did a 1471 the number came up as 091399. I think 091 is the dialling code for India.
I see "Sticky Mick" had a call from the same number a few days ago.

I just had this call just now - the Indian man told me he was from a Government department when I questioned him. He said that I had had a car accident last year - I don't even drive. I was suspicious so I told him I wasn't interested and hung up. He phoned me back straight away and was very insistant then asked about my husband - who then spoke to him and eventually hung up. Obviously touting for accident claims business - very sneaky - be warned.

I had this one very similar last week, I also don't drive lol
  • My daughter and I both had a call from these people, it caused us both a great deal of distress as my grandson was killed in a car accident two and a half years ago. We do not know how they got our numbers, my daughter is ex directory and both of us should have cold calls barred by BT. We both live in the same North Norfolk village. It is disgusting the distress these people cause.

My daughter got her call yesterday, mine today. Please somebody do something about this.

I had a call from these guys yesterday. It showed up as an international call, sounded like an Indian chap (gave his name as Daniel…). Said he believed that someone here had had an accident in the last 3 years. I did have one but it was more like 4 years ago but, caught on the hop, I initially wondered if it was something to do with that. I asked the chap who he was looking for, to which he repeated the bit about believing that someone had had an accident in the last 3 years. Me: “No, I meant what is the *name* of the person you believe had the accident in the last 3 years”. This was followed by a silence, so I tried “Who do you believe had the accident?”, to which he replied “You” (!!!). I found this quite amusing but was losing patience at this point so I told him to stop wasting my time and put the phone down.

Sounds like they’re trying their luck, as a lot of people they cold-call *will* have had accidents recently and may be misled into giving out their details.

I've just had a call from "Mark" at this place. When I asked what it was about he mumbled something I couldn't hear and hung up. No number on 1471. I too am TPS registered but I seem to be getting a few cold calls lately. As soon as I mention TPS they seem all apologetic and go away.
Total claimed so far....over £40k! All for friends and relatives, who needs claim companies when we've got Martin!
