reggie, you need to be on your guard for identity theft. I sincerely hope this doesn't happen but he got a few useful details before hanging up...

Guys, many NHS details were "lost" by a politician, i thik they were on a laptop he was carrying and he "forgot" it, if this polotician sold that info to scammers for hundreds of thousands of £££'s you will keep getting calls from them.

We all give out info everyday , everytime you buy something online , enter a competition , use your loyalty card etc etc , there are posters saying they are ex directory , yet i bet they dont think twice about filling in the details when asked

Wish they would phone me up, I would keep them on the line for ages giving them bogus information.

I had a call from these people. The person who rang stated, in a deep accent, "My name is......." long pause "...Samantha Curtis."

It was almost as if she had to look at her screen to check her name :T

I said, "Could you please remove my details from your database?"

She asked, "For what purpose?" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I'm afraid I raised my voice rather at this point and told her, "SO THAT YOU CAN'T RING ME AT MY PRIVATE RESIDENCE ANYMORE!"

Just had a call from a man claiming to be from the Accident Investigation Bureau. When I told him no-one in my household has had an accident recently and I was not interested in any claims HE told ME to get lost and hung up before I had a chance to respond!! Anyone else had calls from this company? I googled them and found another forum (mumsnet) where other people seem to have had similar problems.

I just had this call just now - the Indian man told me he was from a Government department when I questioned him. He said that I had had a car accident last year - I don't even drive. I was suspicious so I told him I wasn't interested and hung up. He phoned me back straight away and was very insistant then asked about my husband - who then spoke to him and eventually hung up. Obviously touting for accident claims business - very sneaky - be warned.

we had this call just before Xmas, it got me quite concerned as I misheard him with this accent and dodgy line, I thought he was saying there had been a motor accident, and when he mentioned my OH, I was worried until he got home....I was so annoyed when he called back later and we realised that is was someone on a phishing trip for info or ambulance chasing (neither of us had been in an accident at all)

I also got called by one of these last year (and had an accident in April 2008), and it took ages to get them off the phone; they wouldn't accept that i wasn't interested!

No wonder our insurance premiums are so high with slimey companies like this touting for business!

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • I have just had a call from them as well, March 2010. luckily found this page when on phone so knew it was some kind of dodgy company, so put phone down, dont know where they got the details from or my number, but seemed to be a call centre in Delhi.
  • Just had a call from these scammers.
I'd already heard about them after receiving a leaflet from the police warning people about them.

The phone number he called from was 091399 (revealed by 1471) A very strange number if you ask me.

I've had similar, from a 'Government agency' calling about a loan, said i didn't have/or want one, they said they wanted to give me loan.

TPS ex directory won't help because it's an international call, that's how they are getting away with it, i've had loads, everytime i say no and put the phone down, then go to use the phone again about 10 mins later, they are still there.
