I had one at work call my work phone, telling me the same thing, when i asked if he was calling from one of my industry contacts (as i could not understand him at all) he asked me if i was at work and then he told me to f*k off, repeatedly..... Then my colleagues work phone also rang and he told her the same thing, luckily i told her that i had a phone call like that. However it sounded like the person was calling off a mobile phone as there was a lot of background noise and it sounded windy:beer:In My 'Permanant' Pre-Masters Gap Year

They have phoned here three times now , no number on 1471.
I tell them nobody has had an accident, they insist that somebody at this address has.0 -
I have just received one of these phone calls. Indian guy who I could barely understand. He said I've had a car accident, when I said I dont drive he said 'no the accident was last year'. I have never driven in my life! When i asked where he got my details from (he only quoted phone number, dont know if he had my name and address) he said someone in my household has been to a GP following a car accident - well there's only me and my 5 yr old son in my house so I told him he was talking rubbish (but not so poiltely lol) then he hung up on me. Withheld number on 1471, no surprise there! My number is on the TPS so why do I still get calls like this? stupid people!!0

I have just had a call from them, Indian accent, very rude, CLAIMED TO REPRESENT THE POLICE, I DONT THINK SO, would not tell me how he got my number, nobody has had an accident be he did not believe me. This is wrong and should be stopped.0

I have just received a call from a man who claimed to be from Accident Investigation Bureau. He began much the same as has been reported in other posts on this forum, the difference being how he responded when I challenged him.
I asked where he had got our number from, how he had gotten hold of medical details and said that noone in the household had been injured (and that it wasn't really any of his business).
He then shouted 'GO F**K YOURSELF' and when I tried to keep my cool and tell him that he was out of line as I had been civil, despite his inappropriate quizzing of my family's medical history, he proceeded to ask crude and graphic questions (none of which, I would feel comfortable repeating here). I am furious and disgusted that animals such as this can get hold of my home number and subject me to verbal sexual harrassment whilst I am trying to enjoy an evening at home!
Has anybody experienced this type of call from this so-called company? Also, does anyone know how I would go about reporting them if it happened again? I'm guessing I wouldn't have a leg to stand on becuase it is a witheld number...0 -
I can only think that BT (assuming you're on a BT line) might have the ability to track the last phone call made to your line (even if the number is withheld). Problem is I'm not sure how this works with overseas numbers. I suspect it's a few guys from some shack in India using an autodialer to farm off details to sell on. Not an official company at all and even BT chasing would do nothing (unless there's the ability to block that number entering the UK).0

We have just had a 'phone call from these people saying that the NHS had given them our number as we had suffered an injury. We have not had an accident. I am going to notify the National Press, Local Press, Watchdog (Ann Robinson will love getting her teeth into them), the Police and the Trading Standards Office, the Ministry of Justice and the Information Commissioner. Claims handlers must be registered with the Ministry of Justice - this firm is NOT registered, therefore, they are commiting an offence if they handle claims in the UK. There is a website - type the name in .org which shows them as being in NIGERIA. This looks like yet another SCAM coming out of that country - if it the firm concerned.0

Just had an pretty weird phone call from the accident investigation bureau..!
Honestly i thought i was on fonejacker it sounded so suspect,
He (an indian sounding fellow) asking if anyone has had an accident in my household because they have compensation standing by..!
I said yes, I've had many an accident in my lifetime. Please send a cheque!
(Here comes the money shot..!)
He then explained they could only send the funds bank to bank and would require my B/A details.
I then said "no problem, sort code is.. 40-19-**** you..!"
I laughed, he hung up..! classic. I hope i'm in the new series :rotfl:0 -
Well they tried to do the same again on 15.06.10, at 1937 hrs just as Brazil v North Korea was getting under way....
Again a thick Indian subcontinental accent.
Thanks to Admiral Insurance :Tfor warning me as to this as I am currently contesting a traffic accident...
So what does this tell us?
They are probably not football fans?, or calling from a dummy exchange???
This concerns me greatly - like the others I 1471'd to find number withheld...surely this is attempted fraud/deception??
Most of those posting probably feel that it is a low tech attempt at getting money out of people...I feel that if successful the money could be going outside the UK to fund international crime or worse...
Martin is there a site that specifically deal with this? the MOJ one was not specific enough (or operator error...)0 -
I got a call from them yesterday:
"Hello this is the Acc..." [click]
At least I think it was them! The man without a signature.0
