I just received a call from the " accident department" A guy with obvious Indian accent, asking if I met with an accident. I pressed for more information, abuse started. I am very scared wondering who he was and where he got the number from! There is more to life than increasing its speed.0

You scare far too easily!
They use random number generators and call loads of numbers hoping that someone will pick up, or buy lists of names/numbers from other companies (have you ever used an online comparison site or forgot to tick the 'don't share my details box when filling in a form?). As for abuse over the phone - the simplest and most effective solution is to put the phone down.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
My 74 year old mother received one of these calls today. She could not understand what the person was saying and had to ask several times for them to repeat it. In the end the caller shouted 'are you deaf? ' In a very rude manner. My mum replied, ' yes actually I am, I have two hearing aids and if my husband answered the phone is is too' . He then told her she had been in a car accident. My mum told him that that was not possible as they no longer had a car due to my day's dementia. Would love to report this rude cold caller but only NIB I could find are based in Nigeria!0

It gets worse. I just had a call from 'Ashley' at 'Nationwide Advice Bureau'.
It was pretty clear from the pauses and the lack of inflection that this was not a human at all. Siri clearly has a new job.
It made a decent fist of a conversation if you followed it's script, but when suddenly faced with "When were you born?" replied "My company is..."
So, sadly folks, soon there will be no satisfaction from keeping them on the phone or abusing them. It's just a robot. Even the pittance paid to the Indian call centre workers will now go elsewhere.0 -
Just a note about getting calls from these people, I generally try and have a but of fun with them on the call.
I do this by being vague about having an accident see example below;
ME; Hello?
Them; Is that Mr XXXXXX
Me; Who's calling?
Them; XXXX accident claims etc, I'm calling about the recent accident you had.
Me; OK
Them; Have you had an accident?
Me; Possibly.
Them; OK, when was the accident?
Me; I'm not sure?
Them; Was anyone injured?
Me; Possibly
And on and on until they get bored and frustrated, then they realise I am taking the p*55 and ask me why I did it, so I tell them that they have called me on the basis that I might have had an accident so I am giving them what they called for....POSSIBILITY :beer:0 -

That and the absolute silence in the background of the call. Oh, and the call is still coming from "Ashley".0 -
Called in the afternoon by 02032878945 claiming to be from Accident Investigation and could help in my claim. I have not had an accident in the last decade! Asian voice calling himself "Mark". It was the same accent, voice and name given in a call that morning from 02031513551 who had claimed to be from "Windows Technical Support" and wanted to fix a virus that had invaded my PC. (Clever, as I have Android tablet.)0

Our office had at least 5 of these calls today...(great, we are an insurance brokers), they ask about the accident.."which client" I ask..seems to stump them, they insist they are accident investigators, so yes..which client are you referring to you dumbass? I then ask which number they called as I picked it up as the phone rang around the office.
We are now treating this as the next Olympic sport, who can wind them up for the longest, and who gets them most irate.0
