Beanie ~ Thanks the problem is its getting silly now I am justifying things I really dont need. I need a drastic challenge, one that takes me back to basics
The other day I was thinking about buying a new pair of trainers
Yes mine get wet in wet wether/snow but they arnt failing apart and can dry out  Sometimes its not as black and white but I guess thats life
Now you may laugh at what I am about to write :rotfl:
Ok so update on where I am... Still waiting for payday but I have kinda spent all my £60 money to live on  As you know I collect momiji dolls for every certain amount of lbs lost... Well the one in my avatar (Kitty) isnt actually part of that set but I have wanted her for ages, before the ones I collect. The problem is she is retired and it would seem you couldn't buy her online. So I was looking on ebay each day to see if she would be listed. Anyway everyone on the daily chat found out and Gem & Sally found her to buy brand new  So of course I brought her :think:So that was £16 again on my credit card :wall:
However today I was doing my usual hoilday pricing up to see if they have reduced. They should have gone down by now for May, according to last year. Well the sites I wanted were £140/£180 for 4 nights in the cheapest caravan inc all charges. Of course I couldnt really afford to go for that. But there has been a grabbit posted in the last few hours (I know I shouldnt go on the grabbit threads) that linked to hot deals uk that then linked to a holiday site where you could get the same caravn for £15pp + passes/service chagres. So I just put in our dates and see what happened....
My favourite park £70 for 4 nights for both of usEven if it the basic caravan it doesnt bother us too much. There was a £2.00 booking fee but thats not too bad. The only problem is it doesnt cover service charges and passes and they will be £36.00 once the caravan park company get in touch. However for £108.00 for 4 nights is fab :T Of course I now have to save for the spends circa £120 depending on what we plan etc.
So that £54.00 for me  so that will be my whole £60 for this month plus I still have to pay for the doll  I will review it again Friday (payday) and let you know how my budgets have panned out and how it will effect my debts. Also Mum wont be able to pay her half untill Feb but with the really low interest rate on my CC I am not overly bothered
So a mixed bag really today, you could say all badI guess its all managable though if I watch what I spend... Maybe a £1 a day challenge can be devised for the coming month  What do you think?
Keep plodding all :beer:0 -
That's loads cheaper on the holiday, good shout. Reminds me I need to book hotel for Bristol in April.
Don't know whether to say sorry for the doll!Anything you can ebay to cover her?

Well Gem thats what I though, the only way I could have got it cheaper was to wait a week before. The problem is I unknowingly booked the week before the school holidays (off work) here in the south... But in the north some of the holidays start on the week I booked  So either way I knew it would cost more... That was untill I found that yesterday :j
Ohhh why are you coming to Bristol? I hope you have a good time
Aww dont be silly, I wanted her I just didnt budget for her  Its not a problem, although I was looking around my room to see if I could list anything for Sunday (free listing) on ebay. Sadly I haven't much left  I have some used books/dvds that I could list but the problem is they require free postage which means I hardly get anything for themI think I will leave it just now... Dont feel bad though
I didnt have to buy her
So its payday tomorrow so I am sure I can sort something :j I have decided I will indeed do a £1 a day challenge (except whats already in my soa, but I will be adding my quarterly £10 mobile top up), mad maybe I amhowever the only thing's I need is wrapping paper for Mum's gift and hamster food, that is it! I would rather budget myself £31 (31days till I am next payed) for the month than £60 and waste £30 on 'stuff'. I also want to aim for at least 15 of those days to be NSD's
Another challenge, but a good one! I went through my toiletries and because of christmas I am well stocked for at least 4 months with the exception of tissues for 25p a box. Due to my birthday shopping I am stocked up with clothes for a good 4 months too even if it means wearing them lose when/if I drop another size. Also I have 24 unread books here without counting the ones I would like to re-read so that should last about the same amount tooYou never know I may be able to do the £1 a day thing for a few months yet
Time to get frugal! As well as forever plod :j0 -
Pap, there must be something in the air. Perhaps its snow madness getting to us! I've just blown some money on clothes - some needed and some just fancied, either way its not going to help my debtbusting.
I'm trying to convince myself its going to be easy to be frugal this month cos its so cold and dark at the moment.
We'll get there in the end, life would be boring if we were good all the time. This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
Keep plodding my friend
Im loving the challenges as I hate to fail at things. Normally I would be spending bits here and there, so far no money on clothes this year and 8 NSD's
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....
Finally Debt Free...0 -
Pen ~ :rotfl: Defiantly something in the air. Ahhh well as you say if we were good all the time then we would be boring :rotfl: I hope your little flutter doesn't put your debt too far back
Sally ~ Ohhh you are doing very well with your challenges. They are the only thing that keep me on track nowI dont think I will be ever not in a challenge :rotfl: So payday :j at last... That overtime has certainly payed off, below is all my budgets now and I am very pleased to have payed of so much today.
£691.29 income
-£30.00 ~ £1 a day money (I have the odd £1 in my purse ready)
-£32.37 ~ Credit card (thortons choc and momiji doll)
-£371.79 ~ Bills (as above) including £10.00 phone credit
-£20.00 ~ Contingency fund for the £1 a day challenge (if not used = debt payment)
-£12.99 ~ Race for life booking fee
= £224.14 left
So £110.00 Argos which is now clear :T There are still two items at 0% for my brother and Mum but they won't be charge interest either. And £114.14 credit card :T That reduces my debt too approx £55.86 + the £72.00 for my holidayWoo hoo :j
I will come back in a few days once all the credits and debits have been added to my credit card account with the mount outstanding and then the race is on to clear that by MayObviously I still have to pay the £36.00 service charge/passes for the holiday (on my credit card) but I will get £54.00 back from Mum. So even though the debt may be £163 in a few weeks it will actually only be £110 mine, in which case its my holiday as well as the £55 outstanding :j
3 More paydays to get debt free including the holiday
Keep plodding all, and today is day one of my £1 a day challenge, it will be a nsd :beer:0 -
Thats fantastic Pap, you are doing so well on such a limited budget!
Won't it be nice to go on holiday and be debt freeI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Won't it be nice to go on holiday and be debt free
Hi Sally, I try although this month I was lucky because of all the overtime I completed in DecemberMy aim is to be debt free and have at least £100 to take on holiday as holiday spends. It maybe a little tight but I am sure I could do it
February ~ In £500.00 ~ Bills £383.50 = £116.50 Remaining
March ~ In £500.00 ~ Bills £383.50 = £116.50 Remaining
April ~ In £500.00 ~ Bills £423.50 = £76.50 Remaining
May ~ In £500.00 ~ Bills £423.50 = £76.50 Remaining
So my debt will be approx £110 + £100 for holiday spends = £210.00. If I were to live on £40 for the month in Feb/March, that would give me £153. That would pay off the debt and I would only need £57 for my holiday. So on paper it can really be acheived, however its just being really disciplined with myself to do it. Also I am hoping to get more overtime once I am back to work :T
