    Just received from ASA:

Thank you for submitting your complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority.
We have passed your complaint to our Complaints team.
A Complaints Handler will assess your complaint and will reply in full as soon
    as possible.

I don't really think this falls under their remit, but you never know.

    I just got the same
    :)

posted review on pricerunner- spoke to trading standards not really interested- told to write to them with copies of paperwork and return the databar(no chance) . I have had all my emails returned from index
    whats next any ideas?
would we cause problems if we all picked a item and
did a ring and reserve on it? they might think its another mistake ! sorry index don't make them its us ordering the wrong item, not got much else to do since nobody wants holidays and the wind is getting up
let me know what I can do.

Theres a few things we could do to cause trouble

One would be to do a chargeback

Another would be to write a letter recorded delivery saying thanks for the unsolicited gift, however not amused I was charged, and do a chargeback.

Call the switchboard and ask to speak to their fraud dept.  They do have one and then ask if they are investigating their own behaviour.  we could all arrange to do this at say 4pm, all the way thru to 4:30 solid.

wheres the link for the bad review on pricerunner, im having trouble finding it?

    other ones are caio.co.uk

Im really angry because now im stuck with 44 quid charge on my cc.  Littlewoods took 23 collections to collect b4 and I spent 10 quid in calls to get it sorted so i dont forsee this being any different.  Why they couldnt just cancel orders, instead it seems they have been down right malicious about the whole thing and taken it as an opportunity to clear 5 quid items at 20 quid.  Even if any of you do return dont expect the delivery charge to be refunded.

Could also phone up their fraud dept and ask if they will cooperate in the misuse of your cc on their website

Pricerunner links to write 'apt' reviews:

    LX Direct: http://www.pricerunner.co.uk/retailer/3012/

    INDEX: http://www.pricerunner.co.uk/retailer/3011/

There is only one review for INDEX - Monkey wanna see a whole lot more there by the time he finishes work today! ;-)

    - P.S. It seems you have to become a member to post. However, if you feel the cause is worth it, then you know what to do....

While I laughed at Coolio's suggestions, please don't do them!  ;)

Seriously though, we have a valid complaint which we may get resolved to our satisfaction if we stick to the facts and argue or case calmly, quietly and intelligently.

It's a bit like a child with a problem...if they tell you quietly, you will want to help, if they start whining....you want to tell them to shut up!  ;D

We've written to Index Head Office as requested by Index themselves, we've got in touch with Watchdog and also the ASA.

It's a case of just waiting now, let's not weaken our position by becoming vengeful.

Tried to edit my post and got the 'internal server error' message. :-/

Anyway, I was going to add........would it not be better to wait to hear from Index or Trading Standards before leaving bad reviews?

What happens if Index come through like Virgin and Woolies etc?

  • Should we have a go at sending our complaints to GMTV's Lynn'll fix it?

Hold fire on the following idea but keep it in your armoury if and when things get really messy...

"but given there is general consensus on how p*** poor the service from Index has been, I think everyone is well within their rights to post appropriate reviews - as long it is not libellous, illegal, just down right nasty....

(how ever much all the above may be tempting!)"
