After a 16 minute wait, got through, asked for my money back. Someone will collect this Thursday (no specific time). Apparently the person who will come and collect will give a receipt and you then have to call Index with the relevant number on the receipt and they will give a refund..... oh, the end is near! Oh, woe is me(!)

Don't get too hung up about it gang, it's only a ickle printer ;)

I see Index have removed 110085 from their website now... wonder if it'll reappear as a 'DataBar' shortly..!

I bet they've already ripped the page out of all their catalogues instore! ;)

I reckon we should all take the line of it being an unsolicited gift and doing a chargeback oin our credit cards

    On OFT site:

    If different goods are delivered

A trader can't send you different goods to the ones you ordered unless you were warned of that possibility before you placed your order.

    ;D

I tried the 0845 number and kept waiting for an answer and kept getting cut off, so I called again and pressed 1 (report a problem with the website).
I got through immediately to an indian man (Mumbai?) but he knew exactly what I was calling about, and I got the impression that he had been given a very clear script about what to say.
He also told me that this item is NOT in the catalogue, but that it was in an old catalogue. I argued the toss but he wasn't having any of it.
Anyway - emailed TS and about to contact Watchdog.

  • Where do I start???????
Just got in from work and found a lovely blue package containing a Data stick.Gave Index a ring and guess what???Sorry sir we will come and pick it up on wednesday. So then asked about whats gone wrong and was told that I had ordered the wrong thing. Then told them about the emails I had received and the web page and the Cat Page362.....They went away and come back saying there had been a code error on the web page. Then I reminded them about the ct page 362.Went away and came back and said that the error was in the cat and someone had copied the wrong number over to the web...........
So I asked if my formed contract was going to be furfilled and was told no because I didn't sign anything and didn't have a contract ???
Read out terms and con's about forming a contract and just got ignored and told to stop argueing with her......... :'(
Then asked for a equivilant printer with the same spec and then got told "THIS PRINTER WAS PRICE DROPPED BUT WE ARE NOW OUT OF STOCK SO YOU CAN HAVE YOUR MONEY BACK"
How many different excuses are they going to use????
Will now contact Watchdog and trading standards as this is the first time I have heard them admit that is was this (7260) printer at this price........

i got usb things so i came here first, well after being told by Tatum I ordered the wrong item and its my fault.

    watchdog here we come

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog

if about 20 of us complain were in there

I already complained around 10 am this morning and pasted the long letter I wrote on page 8 or 9 of this post :D Also wrote to index on (copy around the same pages).

I did get a phonecall from WD but I was in a meeting and they didn't leave a message : :(

Unfortunately as of tomorrow at 8am I am away on business and will not have access to this forum to see what is happening until Friday PM :-/. I am hoping to get a phonecall in that time...

They should never have sent out the item (fair enough having a misprint on the page but also having a wrong picture, saying it was in stock and misprinting the confirmation e-mails? I find that highly unlikely. Then they go and send us old good from their previous catalogue. Highly suspicious!).

Watchdog will investigate - keep sending your complaints. I too will not return it and "End the contract" until I am satisfied I have got what I paid for. I did not sign for the goods that were put through my letterbox. Also I never asked them to send me a USB key worth less than what I laid out.

    Charming customer service! ::)
Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:
