Forgive me if this was already covered but the item no. on the delivery note is 110085. The item we ordered is 1100185. I have had the same conversation as others with INDEX and been told that, oops silly error we have sent you the wrong item but the correct one is now out of stock so can't send you that. Apparently we should of had an email over the weekend explaining all of this (I didn't get one) and they had some poor lass in all weekend apparently sending these out. Strange things seem to have happened since then - the memory stick on offer on the website with no mb information on it. Would you buy a car without knowing the engine size. Oh and why is an item out of stock when no-one who ordered it appears to have received it. End of rant - but letter off to Watchdog0

when i spoke to "Julie" at Index - she said it was their mistake, but the printer was now out of stock.
I have a snail mail addy for complaints :-(0 -
If I remember rightly from the Toysrus Xbox bundle situation, Index might be contravening (sp?) the ASA's (Advertising Standards Aurthority) advertising guidlines.
They stated that when a company advertise an offer that they have to give customers a fair chance to receive said offer and if the products arent available then the company should offer an alternative, of equal or greater spec, at the same price.
These are only guidlines, so I don't think compamies have to abide by them and I'm sure I havent got the wording exactly right but its all good ammo. right?0 -
Guess what? I got a printer! ;D
Nah, not really. My usb thing turned up today too. >:(
Just off the phone to nice Index lady, she says Liverpool Trading Standards (as you know) has told Index they can just refund, no need to supply printer.
This goes directly against what my Trading Standards told me today.
I was advised to write to Head Office with copies of emails etc. I also explained that I wanted to return the USB thing but I didn't want a refund as I expect them to fulfill the order they accepted.
She said that if I returned it, my account would automatically be credited, so I told her to leave it for the time being. I have until the 24th so hopefully I'll have had a reply from Head Office by then.
She reckoned that Index had covered themselves with Trading Standards, but I told her Virgin did the same just before Xmas.
Virgin said they had checked with TS and their lawyers, but they still did a U turn eventually and people got the Gamecube they ordered (albeit in a roundabout way).
Woolies and Tesco also decided that customer satisfaction was worth more than what it cost them to supply the item, so I wonder why Index should be any different?
I know a lot of people think you should just let things like this go, and if companies play fair and admit they made a mistake then fine, I would happily accept that.
I don't think Index have played fair though. At no point did I get an email explaining there was a mistake and offering me the option to cancel. They knew of the problem before the item was dispatched.
The mistake wasn't the code number as it was the same code number used in the actual catalogue, so they can't argue we were buying the wrong thing. They offered the correct picture with the correct code and even the correct original price. They have a damn cheek to suggest this code was for anything else other than the printer.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Index ie littlewoods... barclay's etc.. money grabbers.. you wont get the printer..cos they dont care about there customers..
I use them.. order goods.. with discount code.. then return the good.. keep discount.. only thing they are good for..0
