You can use the jist of it but probably best to change it a little though or watchdog will get a bit iffy about it?

I have also tried to complain to index again but no luck - number is too busy - so e-mailed them as below. This is fun

Had a missed call on my mobile as well which I think was watchdog, so going to get in touch with them again once I get home. I do have work to do

Dear Sir or Madam

I am writing with regards to a recent order I placed for a printer.

The printer was an HP Photo printer and the website had the price down as 19.99 (reduced from 99.99 - save 80%). Seeing this as a bargain I proceeded to purchase this printer as it was indicated as "in stock". I received a confirmation e-mail saying I would receive my printer within 3 days.

Expecting my printer to arrive today I was unfortunate enough to discover you sent me the wrong item (a freecom USB key device which is nothing like a printer!).

I can not believe this is a mistake and will be expecting the printer to be delivered or an equivelent for the price. This can not possibly be a mistake as I know several people have had the same problem.

Please get in touch a.s.a.p. Your customer care line is too busy and I can not remain on hold forever.

Ive just sent an email to index. I cant beleive they are refusing to admit to their mistake.

I will send an email to watchdog, and trading standards when I have more time.

I hope someone from Index reads this tread.

Same problem here, received Freecom 64mb USBB. Telephone Index, was told we'll pick it up; not good enough I said, mentioned they were in contravention of the Distance Selling regulations as they had taken the money out of my account and as such had entered into a contract of sale for the printer advertised

Still not interested.

Given another number to ring 0845 075 2233 about to ring it now.

This is going to be a long messy one but I love a good scrap! ;D

This is grossly unfair! I'm at work so don't know if my printer hasn't been delivered.
I'll just have to join the battle when I get home tonight.

contacted my local trading standards they told me that they have to give me the printer, but they expect the company to use a sold out excuse which therefore would get them out of the contract. They also said that the usb that was sent instead can not be taken as a free gift.
they said to write to them and say that the order was for a printer not a usb, so we want the printer for 19.99.
As this was what we entered the contract with you for, and the printer is still advertised at 19.99 on your site.

I thought we could ask that a printer of a similar or greater spec be sent as a substitute.

just had a thought about contacting watchdog and sending them the link to this page, what does everybody think?
