Index ie littlewoods... barclay's etc.. money grabbers.. you wont get the printer..cos they dont care about there customers..

I use them.. order goods.. with discount code.. then return the good.. keep discount.. only thing they are good for.. :)

How can you return goods and keep the discount?
  • Wow this is mad. I received my printer through my letterbox today, I have read all the post about this and I am still confused. I am going to get in touch with my local trading standards and also Index to see what happens from here. I do have 14 days to return item or take the gamble and keep an overlly priced USB thing well if any one has any progress then i'm sure we will all no what roads to go down. ???

If I remember rightly from the Toysrus Xbox bundle situation, Index might be contravening (sp?) the ASA's (Advertising Standards Aurthority) advertising guidlines.

They stated that when a company advertise an offer that they have to give customers a fair chance to receive said offer and if the products arent available then the company should offer an alternative, of equal or greater spec, at the same price.

These are only guidlines, so I don't think compamies have to abide by them and I'm sure I havent got the wording exactly right but its all good ammo. right?

Just had a look at the ASA site, I'm not sure this would be covered by them as Index aren't actually advertising this item as such.

They are only offering it for sale on their site, not sure if that's the same thing as a widespread offer being made in the paper for example?

I could be talking rubbish of course. ;D

ASA won't give a stuff unless this was advertised on paper or TV/radio.
My printers just got delivered in a very small blue envelope. And guess what - can't get through on their customer service line because of "the success of our latest offers means we're very busy at the moment".
    My a***!

i got usb things so i came here first, well after being told by Tatum I ordered the wrong item and its my fault.

    watchdog here we come

if about 20 of us complain were in there
  • The mistake wasn't the code number as it was the same code number used in the actual catalogue, so they can't argue we were buying the wrong thing. They offered the correct picture with the correct code and even the correct original price. They have a damn cheek to suggest this code was for anything else other than the printer.

Spot on, you can't just go and choose an item to suit a code that is currently in use and published. If they had realised in time they would not have taken the money from us..but they have. They can't even claim the code was re-alloted to the stick because it was still in use on the website and related to the printer on the confirmation & acknowledgment that they sent.

If my confirmation & acknowledgment had come through as a memory stick then that would have been a different matter. They have screwed up big time here and are trying to wriggle out of it, perhaps they have managed it before but haven't yet grasped the scale of it this time.

Also, It's funny how we get sent something that could be approx. the same value as we spent and also is very small enabling cheaper despatch and return costs? What if this 'rogue code' had related to a far more expensive and larger item, would they have sent it?

Aside from all that, If you received yours through the letterbox even though it needed a signature, don't claim you haven't receved it. Some driver will get their !!!!!! kicked for something you may well have been glad they did on another occasion.

Well, I am home and lo and behold....a USB stick
    Shock(!) Horror (!) Gasp (!).

I can't be arsed to pursue this one any longer. Will just get them to pick it up and get them to give me a refund....

(although I will be watching Watchdog with some interest!  ;) )

....hang on a minute....take a look at your order confirmation receipts guys and gals and look what it says there (near the bottom) - " WE GUARANTEE YOUR SATSFACTION!"

....Only one thing to say to that - HA-BLOODY-HA!

    Ha ha ;D
I finally got through to someone and "apparently" there was a mistake on the website!
Littlewoods are going to arrange an "uplift" - but got very shirty when I told them to call for it after 7pm at night when I get in from work!  They are now going to deliver me a card with the phone number of the couriers, and told me to arrange collection with them.
And they refused to refund my money until the couriers collect it.
I could return it to my nearest Index store (20 miles away in the opposite direction from where I work) which I also told them was unacceptable.
This is going to be a VERY unpleasant letter to the chairman - not that this company gives a toss about anyone, so not holding out any hopes. >:(

UPDATE: Address for written complaints is:
    Index Customer Services Department
    Kershaw Avenue
    Crosby
    LIVERPOOL
    L72 1ST
