Afternoon all
what a day!
woke up at 4 am to the racket of magpies. tossed and turned for 45 mins than at 4.45 am i sat up in bed and looked out of the window to see a monster sized wild rabbit hopping down the garden path and right onto the lettuce plants. He was truly lovely and a delight to watch but i had to get up and shoo him off - lovely welcome in the kitchen - dog pooh everywhere - think the heat has upset our hounds diegestive system ( so had to stop and clear that up ( how i love starclens! )
went back to bed and lay down for another hour and saw something wiggling on the bedroom ceiling - some kind of centipede or millipede - was just wondering if it could possibly fall off the ceiling onto the bed - when it dod just that.so i had to get up again and shake teh duvet out to find it and kill it ( forgive me lol )
by then i was well and truly awake so i made tea and sat out in the garden watching the birds. was delighted to see a lesser spotted woodpecker feeding a youngster from our fat balls!
have since made two loaves of bread, a pear and chocolate upside down pudding, pear/apple crumble and a cherry cake... inbetween sneaking peeks at the trooping of the colour which always leaves me feeling very proud of our troops and our nation.
ironing is next plus a walk with the dog and then a long soak in teh bath with a glass of wine i think.
breakfast: cornflakes
lunch: sandwich made with all the odds and ends of leftovers in teh fridge - ie beef, cheese, spring onion, lettuce, tomato
dinner: steak, jacket potato and salad
hope youre all enjoying your weekend

Morning everyone - welcome back Nelski! Glad you enjoyed your holiday, hopefully the next one will be just as good.
PenPenguin - I'm sorry about your friend. It's so sad that this can happen suddenly and seemingly at random to just about anyone. Best of luck with the Race for Life.
Today is a lazy bones day - haven't done a single thing, other than put a dish in the dishwasher. I'll get my act together in a minute as I have loads to do:- clothes and bed linen washing
- hoovering
- tidying up
- filing
- car washing/hoovering
- follow Martin's guide on how to get bank charges back - I'm going to be rich! (or rather, less poor)
- turn the mattress
- sweep and wash floors
- go for long walk
- examine contents of food cupboards and do some meal planning
Just in case anybody missed it in yesterday's thread, yesterday at w*** at lunchtime I discovered I was wearing a navy shoe and a black shoe. D'oh! Go on, have a good snigger on me, I know I certainly did!!!
See you all later

Afternoon everybody :hello:
MushyPeas and PenPen - (((hugs)))
Queenie - hope your littlie is much better now.
PP has promised to text me the news from her holiday so I can tell you all
Vicky - hope the house viewing is productive
Nicki I'm not surprised your brain was whirring all night after all you did yesterday!
Jo - the job sounds fab - go for it!
Nelski - welcome back, it's been all quiet and refined around here without you:D
The opera was pretty good last night, though given all the hype, it wasn't THAT good IYSWIM.
Just having a sit down for a bit - I've been to Tesco, the Co-op and Lidl for various provisions, mainly ingredients for housemate's belated birthday cake which I am finally going to get around to making tomorrow. Cost more than it might have done, as I realised I did not own an 8 inch cake tin. Also do not own a rolling pin and was wondering how to ice the cake, but struck lucky in Tesco's as they had some ready-rolled icing and marzipan (which aren't even normally in stock - must be leftovers from Christmas) reduced due to damaged packaging :j :j
Cake will use up last of current bottle of cheapie "cooking brandy" - which has lasted nearly 6 years and provided "lighter fuel" for many a Christmas pud
Need to get a load in the WM, make a batch of broccoli and garlic pasta, put the fruit for the cake to soak in a bowl of fruit juice and brandy, and have a good old tidy up. Am off out for the evening later. I have a cheapie standing room ticket for another opera (£5) and have discovered that my best friend has coincidentally booked the standing place directly next to mine!
Bye for now :wave:Operation Get in Shape

Afternoon all..............
(((((((((((((((((((((HUGS to all those who need them)))))))))))))))))))
We went to the allotment this morning, but only stayed an hour, it was scorching, so we have decided to go back tonight when hopefully it will be cooler, we need to water, the apple and plum tree looked a little the worse for wear.........................I did pick enough stawberries for supper though and we have lots of gooseberries coming on.
We have decided tp leave the beds we have not managed to dig, but strim down the grass etc in Sept and then dig the beds over and let them lay fallow until the spring.
Egg mayonnaise for lunch with home grown green salad. I have some smoked haddock for supper tonight with some buttered new spuds.....chicken defrosting in the frdige for tomorrow.
If this hot weather continues I think we may well start copying the continentals and have a siesta in the middle of the day and work in the cool of the evening. There's nowt on TV unless you are a football fan and we are not....................just watching Tim Henman at the moment.

Hello everyone. I spend so much time reading this thread I rarely have time to post
I have managed to mildly dehydrate myself twice in two days - so I have to keep water with me at all times and remember to drink the stuff!
OH is away at the moment so I'm enjoying the peace and quiet. Howver I have to write my assignment else there will be trouble.
Mushypeas : Use the highs to do all the things you want to do, ride the lows they are there to let you know it's alright to be sad and down. I requested the divorce, I still had low times. You will get through it though, and being single is good fun, just takes a bit of practise.
Love and hugs to all that need them, there are plenty here.

Queenie - sorry to hear about you DS - any idea what's causing the temp? (sorry if I missed it in another post) ...
He's picked up a bug of some sort from school, I believeI know there's a fair bit of it going around, but my two rarely get ill (thank goodness), and on those rare occasions youngest does get ill, it knocks him for six!
Jo - fingers X'd for you that you get the job you saw advertised! Wow, that would just be fantastic!!
Murtle! :hello: My l'il dehydration prone munchkin, could you try challenging yourself to say drinking a glass of water down, on the hour every hour? Years ago when I did WW that's the only way I would/could remember to ingest 8 glasses per day!!! I think my trouble was, they never stipulated how large a 'glass' was and I was trying to drink too much (very large glass you see)
moggins :T Woohoo!! Great news on your tomoto plant
Ah, now, when you ask how do I keep "so up" do you mean, waking hours, or temprement?
SnowyOwl .... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl::T :T You little trend setter you
thriftmonster - well done on getting your head start on Christmas Shopping :T Do you keep a gift cupboard? Many of us do and we add to it ad hoc throughout the year. It's great to dip into and have reserves when needed and the calendar dictates. Hope you got some great bargains!
Funky - hope DD's first band practise went well today and she had heaps of fun. I used to play in the ATC band and really enjoyed marching and playing at the Carnivals, shows and other events.
Prudent - hope you managed to schedule in some well earned rest today to get your energy levels back up.
brokenwings - I know what you mean about noisey birds, in my area it's the gulls. I'm rather glad we don't have too many magpies around here, their noise is one I find really awful.
tootles - enjoy your strawberries. Had my first taste of the season last Monday and ooooh, nothing was sweeter!
Thank you to those who expressed get well wishes for d10yo, he's still not eating, but he's certainly a lot brighter. Maybe I can tempt him with some blancmange in a little while? Hopefully means he'll be fit enough for the bbq tomorrow. I've made some Sheesh Kebabs to take along - currently in the fridge so they'll be nicely firm and chilled; should only take a few minutes on the bbq.
The garden is so hot, was able to get the bedding out and back on within a few short hours - nothing beats a freshly laundered bed. All spritzed with some lavender water to induce a calming sleep tonight for all  Shouldn't tempt fate should I:laugh:
