Moggins - when my sister was 19 she had really bad glandular fever and we had to feed her up big time. Mum made proper beef tea for her with stewing steak. Later when she was staying with us, I used banana or choc Complan but also blended it with more bananas - it didn't taste bad. I think all the other ideas about sneaking cheese etc in arfe good - I used to do things like stuffed jacket spuds with cheese, cream etc all mashed and put back into the shell and reheated
We haVe cleared out the playroom today. We found a carrier bag of crayons someone gave us. So our French student tested all the felt tips and sharpened all the pencil crayons. There were also loads of dirty wax crayons. So I used a recipe from the Tightwad Gazette and put them in bun tins, melted them in the oven and made "Scribble Crayons" for toddlers for Xmas pressies. It worked really well and some of the colour mixes are gorgeous.:j
Pasta bake tonight with reduced goats cheese and leftover carrots and broccoli from last night - v ery nice.“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

moggins wrote:She loves ice cream, but unfortunately all the things she really loves are very healthy, she loves fruit, vegetables and boiled chicken. She likes rice and pasta but hates anything processed, she won't touch sausages etc. This is part of the reason why she was so slim in the first place.
She does like her chocolate though
I don't know why she's like this, we've never made an issue of weight and I'm a cuddly size 14 and we don't even own a set of scales
Moggins - My YDS was v v skinny when young. My two others were fine. I took him to the doctor's as like you seeing his little frame was gut wrenching & they sent me to nutritionist (sp) who gave me some really good recipes to build him up. He was just unable to put on weight no matter what food he ate.
One was a smoothie which I made daily for him. It had all sorts of goodies in it, wheatgerm etc. But a chocolate flavour. I should have kept them & could have posted them to you. They were really good. I would suggest doing something like this as feeding her too many fats & sugars mighten do her any good. You really need to put in extra goodness as well as fats & sugars. He is 22 now. He's still slender now, but not painfully thin. He can eat all the rubbish under the sun & still puts on no weight. The other two hate him for that.
I'm feeling a bit better this morning. Woke up around 3am for more pain killers. I've just had my brekky & taken more medication.DH arrived home around 6am and is in bed snoring. I will hang out some washing from last night and start a few chores. Hopefully be back on board tomorrow and I can do some shopping over the w'end. I am having a unexpected storecupboard challenge. We're having oaty burgers tonight.
That vegetarian cooking class is really coming in handy.
Have a good night sleep to those who have trouble sleeping esp Snowy. It must be awful to have such bad nights. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Well,it looks as though I can now post .... but still can't use the rest of the site without a lot of effort
I've tried posting on the tech board but when I select 'new thread' I just get a load of rubbish spouting at me.
Off to put a banana and muesli loaf in the BM. First time for this recipe so fingers crossed.

I've never had any problems like that Kaz. At times the site has been sooooo slow but it was like that to everybody. If you want me to I can post over in the techy board for you. Just explain exactly what you want me to say. Fingers crossed on you loaf.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
'Morning' Aussie Lass, glad to hear that you're feeling a bit better today. Seems strange looking out at the pitch black darkness here knowing that you are about to put out your washing!!!
Can sympathise with the sudden storecupboard challenge. Just went to make that banana and muesli loaf only to discover no museli! I'm hoping that a mix of oats, sultanas, walnuts and a little extra sugar will suffice!!!
Ah well - I'm sure it'll at least be edible.
G'night all,

:hello: Gooooood Morning Fellow OS'ers
Ahh, the quiet part of the day, a nice cup of green tea, a bit of bird song in the background and the gentle purring of my furbaby curled by my feet.
moggins - ((hugs)) Sorry to read about your Mum and also your anxiety over your dd's eating/weight. I know she's been quite unwell recently and it may take a little while for her to build herself up again but try to take heart that young children aren't known to starve themselves. If you are concerned about her weight, it would be adviseable to seek medical advice who can rule out any underlying issues and perhaps give you some reassurance and advice?
Vicky A - hope OH was able to speak to his friend and find the words that dealt successfully with your dilema.
nicki - it's so refreshing to read your lists and see your daily goals and accomplishments :T :T
AussieLass - hope you are feeling much better and your dgs is now fully recovered from his ear infection.
tootles - hopefully you and your dh are also well and mended.
B: Boiled egg and 'soldiers'
L: Ham sandwiches with coleslaw and flapjackStuffed marrow
Only have 2 washloads to go out today so hopefully the weather will be kind
Want to give the house a good blitz before the weekend because it's a busy one coming up.
Wishing you all a good day ahead!

Morning everyone! Another sleepless night, ew!
PennyPincher - hope you had a decent night's sleep and can get through today's round of sharps with as little stress as possible.
My Old Style today will, as normal, be fitted in around w***. I made a start yesterday evening on my home paperwork - it has been so long since I bothered filing anything - due to a mixture of course work and laziness. It's good to see it disappearing. I really MUST start doing flylady as my general housework is all a bit haphazard, and now I've got no excuse since I don't have college any more.
Freyaluck - regards your neighbour, it's so awkward when people do that, but you are perfectly entitled to throw him out when you need to get on with your normal routine. You can be nice about it of course - just stand up and say something like "thanks very much for coming round, it's always lovely to see you. It's the kids' bedtime now, so we have to get on with that". He'll get the hint and go, don't feel guilty about it, he is imposing on you and needs a push out the door.
Roz - you must be moving out today or tomorrow, what a relief for you. That girl sounds dreadful, how awful for the flatmates left behind with her. Ewww...some people!!
Jo1096 - don't worry about your manager and her acid tongue, when it comes down to it if you need to see your GP then you should go, no job is more valuable than your own health. Your manager sounds ignorant and self-centred - I think I'd feel a bit sorry for someone so lacking in empathy.
Breakfast - homemade museli concoction
Lunch - whatever falls out of the fridge
Dinner - going to make some soup and will probably have it with bread
Snacks - fruit, yoghurt, water. Not chocolate! Well, maybe a wee bit!
IT'S FRIDAY!!:j:j

Morning Queenie, Snowy and all who follow...
It's my last day in this awful flat!!!!!:D:D:D:D:D:D Although she has now cleaned up most of the mess (well what was on the floor anyway) after one of our other flatmates left a not very nice note stuck to her door and our landlord told her boss what she'd done (they're good mates!) :rotfl: There are still bits splattered about the bathroom though that she hasn't done but it's a start!!
But I am moving tomorrow and I really don't care anymore!! Wasn't a very OS day yesterday as I just ended up in the pub watching football and then we went for an all you can eat chinese in town as I couldn't be bothered to cook and it was £15 for 3 of us including refillable soft drinks!
Today I need to finish packing - I have the kitchen stuff and a few other random bits and pieces to do, along with OH's clothes and then it's all done! I also have 1 washload to do and when that's done I shall iron it and pack it away... I'm not dusting or hoovering today as there are way too many boxes around - I'll just give the rooms a good cleaning when they're empty. This afternoon all I need to do is nip down to the PO to post some amazon books and my fathers day card (ooops left that one a bit late! :rotfl:)
Had a loooong conversation with the landlord yesterday and he was very nice and said he'd give us the full deposit back despite me having taken a chunk out of the wall with my ironing board
Looks like it's going to be quite a nice day here

Good morning Queenie, Roz_V, Snowy, and all to follow - oh, and everyone who posts in the meantime while I am typing this!
It's a lovely day here, so 1 load of washing is already out on the line, while second load is slooshing away merrily in the WM.
D/w is emptied & refill process started again, and of course the important job is done (ie the computer is up & running)
Got some shopping to do this morning, we have a birthday party to go to in Suffolk this afternoon (a member of DS's home ed. group) and then tomorrow DS is going away for the weekend on a wildlife cruise around the islands off south Wales, with Boys brigade. Sounds lovely!
(((hugs))) to all who need them
Have a good day!0
