moggins - I love Complan however I did try DS2 on it as he is such a poor eater but he didn't like it. I think it's a case of try it and see. You could try all the tricks they do for feeding anorexics up with (I saw it on a documentary once) They add loads of butter and cream to their mash, add cream to custard, porridge, milk puds, basically anything you can get away with putting it in. Cheese is high fat as well as other goodies. Add cream cheese to pasta sauces if she won't eat it on its own.

Does she like nuts/peanut butter? These are calorific. What about treats like popcorn? You can add butter, oil, sugar etc to these. I know this might be building on a sweet tooth, but it's her weight you have to deal with ATM.

Hope there's something in there she likes :) (((hugs)))

Thanks TM, there are some good ones in there, I particularly like the cream cheese with pasta as she loves her pasta. The popcorn too, we haven't ever allowed her to eat nuts yet as she is only 4 and they recommend not giving them nuts until the age of 7.

Some fantastic ideas though, I can't wait until tomorrow to try them out.

How about cream in a smoothie or in a mousse type dessert?

Is there anything that she loves?

what is really nice just now in the heat is a banana, cold milk and a scoop of ice cream - you can add cream if you want and whizz - lovely thick milkshake and loads of calories if you have creamy ice cream and cream too - can add strawberries as well/instead
Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j

She loves ice cream, but unfortunately all the things she really loves are very healthy, she loves fruit, vegetables and boiled chicken. She likes rice and pasta but hates anything processed, she won't touch sausages etc. This is part of the reason why she was so slim in the first place.

She does like her chocolate though :)

I don't know why she's like this, we've never made an issue of weight and I'm a cuddly size 14 and we don't even own a set of scales :(

Moggins, some people are just like that. I always loved healthy stuff, not because it was healthy just because I liked it!

Careful on feeding too much rich stuff as her tummy may react to it and it can be harder to put on weight then to loose it so it may take sometime. Keep her active, but not too active as she'll be buring calories.

In order to "fatten" her up, work on proteins rather then sugar as it will be longer lasting. Try wholewheat pasta not white and brown rice rather then white. I find that my body devours white pasta and rice very quickly leaving me with a sugar down.

Add cheese to dishes, add cream to dishes.

    Try increasing her portion size.

Little and often works well for me, I eat more this way then 3 set meals in a day.

    Good luck though

I agree that Slim Fast has loads of vitamins etc in it, but isn't it meant to bulk you up and stop you from feeling hungry? I was just thinking that it may mean that she drinks that and then eats less food as she feels full.
I can sympathise Moggins because my DD1 who is really skinny had similar to your daughter when she was about three, and I was worried sick about her. I have some photos taken around this time too and her cheekbones really stick out. I fed her up with anything she would eat and gave her Minadex I think it was called, it was with the vitamins in Boots, its orange flavoured vitamin liquid but its also a "build up tonic" It was recommended by the pharmacist. It didnt take long for her to fill out a little but I remember how worried I was. She also came down with a bout of secondary ear infection too.
Good luck, I hope you manage to build her up soon.

I'm hoping that this is going to post as I am having lots of probelms with this site tonight. I'm having difficulty logging with the usual adress - it keeps trying to download some file to my pc and not letting me load the main forums page.....
Anyway, just a quickie (in case it doesn't work!!)
Moggins - it might be worth a visit to your gp if you're really concerned. When I was having DS2 I couldn't keep a thing down. The GP then prescribed meal supplement cartons for me, and I lived off those for a while. They will probably be able to give you info on how to help her gain some weight without causing cholestorol probs at the same time - maybe even send you to a dietician (they did with my exH)
    Fingers crossed this'll post ....

shez - I seem to remeber having to put the cake in for a bit longer once as it was still wet inside. I put it down to the fact i have a totally 'carp' oven and the temperature in any varies dramatically from a position 2 inches away :D You have to find a balance between getting it too hot so that it burns the outside and leaving it in too long so that it dries out. However, it's a devine and morish cake, guaranteed to use up your bananas and go straight to your hips

Still hoovering round the tv in the hall - it is going on saturday afternoon :j

Well, done bu99er all tonight, bar put the kids to bed, clear the kitchen and watch 'House'. Mr TM is away at his good friend's civil partnership this weekend so I shall have a couple of evenings to myself to get things sorted and the ironing done (no, I still haven't done it, just added to it) Having the joy of 'lady pains' tonight so have been curled on the bed wrapped in the duvet. Am just going to make DS1's packed lunch (another of life's skinny little rats :D) and lock up then going to bed. May treat myself to some hot milk (ah, the high life)

Right, have a good night everyone. Hope you all manage to get some quality sleep.

    TM
