When my sister was sorting out her kitchen for her new house she decided against granite tops as if a knife is used on the surface regularly you can end up with a no longer shiney surface. Or so she found out anyway.

    Hellooo!
Havent posted for ages because Im either at work when reading the posts or its late at night after the kids are in bed. I have been reading daily though honest!
Nicki (and Johannne too) I am very sorry to hear about your nanna.
Felt I had to post because the thread has made me laugh so much today, you lot are a load of nutters. Crimplene, train or horse heartbeats, naughty fridge magnets - ??? Is it the heat?

PennyPincher, I hope you are feeling better after your experience. I must be a bit strange as I am not at all bothered by needles, good job really as I had problems with my liver when pregnant with DD1 and was hospitalized for a few weeks on twice daily blood tests. Felt like a pincushion but I got used to it pretty quickly.
Aussielass - I hope you feel better soon too.
Roz - Urgh! you poor thing, I bet you are glad you are moving out of there! I'd be very tempted to give the neighbour a good piece of my mind on my way out too, the dirty wotsit.

I have taken DD2 to the dentist as she has had a sore gum for a couple of days. Turns out it is only a mouth ulcer, she now informs me it she thinks it has gone, as it no longer hurts. I have also taken DD1 to the doctors as she was having problems with blocked ears when she goes swimming, (and refuses to wear earplugs) turns out her ears are absolutely fine, nothing wrong with them at all. So a bit of a wasted afternoon really. If I hadnt taken them though - Im sure both problems would have got worse.

As I have been typing this OH has arrived home (only an hour and a half early) whirled past me - flung his bag in the corner - and settled himself on the settee in front of the tv. Guess what he is watching? Both DD's are wearing their England t-shirts and assorted flags, blow up hands and red and white horns have been found. Think I will sit on the sun lounger outside with my book, dont need to watch, I can tell whats going on by the shouting.
    Enjoy the match everyone.

    Hello all :hello:

Just got back from Hunstanton, which was our Geography fieldtrip for Years 5 and 6. I think that they all had a lovely day and are hopefully all exhausted. I certainly am! They spent goodness knows how long in the gift shop, buying things that broke within minutes :) and buying ice-cream.......

OH is watching the footy match round at a work mate's house and so is giving me a call when he leaves for me to put the supper on!

We're going to my parents' house at the weekend as OH is doing a bbq. He's appalled that my dad has never done a barbie before so he's going to embarass him. OH's burgers are fab, coupled with the Lincolnshire sausages that my mum will buy it sould be a good feed! ;)

Right so let me get myself sorted out :

Right, now I've eaten I think I'll go sweep the front, clean the brass properly and give the window a wipe over. I'm going to leave the swilling since OH is now parked out the front of the house :D The fruit (once the match has finished - I might get skinned alive if I interrupt it :rotfl: ) will be topped up as the bowl is now empty  Then I'll start on the kitchen jobs  NO rest for the wicked is there :rotfl:

    Evening all!

Well, my apologies for not posting as often as I intend to, we had some PC issues for a couple of days which was pure torture, I didnt realise the internet was such a massive part of my life. I think thats when I realised that I probably needed to get a few more hobbies.... :o

Anyway, im still waiting for my boss to get back to me about cutting down my hours at work, and im still going to look for another job anyway as my boss is a bloody nightmare sometimes. She can be nice occassionally but for the most part I imagine firing missiles at her and blowing her up. :D Im feeling quite sorry for myself and wish that my work life interested me - but ive a feeling that interesting work doesnt come around that often.

Moan over - at least I get paid in a week and its annual bonus time, which is going to be promptly splashed on a new laptop, and im selling my car as it makes no sense to keep it. ;) I dont drive it very often and its old, and I think ive got a buyer. With that cash, im buying a different freinds LCD tv off him for a very bargain price so im very excited. :o:D I didnt intend to buy these things so soon but it means that all expensive things for the flat have been bought (with the exception of my part time college course im doing in september) and then ill put the money into paying off the 0% o/d quicker. I need the treat too. :D:D

Aside from contemplating the purchasing of techie stuff, ive bought a few art materials with as I want to get back into some of my hobbies in the hope that it will help me stop feeling so stressed all the time. Work for the last week or so has been absolutely dreadful to get through and ive lost every ounce of motivation that ever existed, to the point where im sitting in work feeling like im going to go and tell my boss where to stick herself at any second. I dont think thats a very good sign.

Im feeling very tired at the moment too and have seriously fell off the o/s wagon, ive been purchasing lunches for work  , not meal planning  , not even cleaning  or cooking properly at home  . i Ideally I need some time off work to get my house in order, to get some quality sleep and get organised enough to focus on doing my job.

I actually think there might be something wrong with me and think I might need to go to the doctor, but we have so many staff off at the moment I cant really call in sick and even if I did I would have to explain myself to my boss which I dont really want to do given her previous comments about depression sufferers. She '[doesnt] get it' and 'think its wierd'. Probably because she is a corporate drone who thrives on stress. Well, I dont - I thrive on mental stimulation and work best on my own.

Anyway - I dont have to work Saturday so I have a full weekend and I really will stop whingeing now! I think ill go and have a little tidy up and plan how to get back on the winceyette o/s wagon.

Oh - and crinoline - havent heard that for a while!

    Help me please?

I need some help in finding high calorie foods to build DD back up, she's still not eating well (she was never a good eater before this bug) and she's lost so much weight she is almost skeletal.

I'm not exaggerating in the slightest either, I walked behind her up the stairs and she doesn't even have a bottom any more, you can see the bones sticking out, I'm getting so worried I am almost panic stricken, she can't afford to lose any more weight at all. I'm dreading what the teachers will think when she goes back to school next week, that's even if she has the energy to go back, at the moment it's taking every scrap she's got just to walk up the stairs.

Should I also stop them making her do any PE or exercise too. Does anyone know if Complan tastes like a milkshake? She won't drink it if she thinks it's disgusting. At the moment all I can think of is feeding her constantly with chocolate cake :(

This is going to sound bizarre but I was told by a dietician last week that Slim Fast is great for building people up. Apparently it has better nutrional content than Complan and is cheaper. Give it between meals and try and get her to start eating normally again but using things like proper butter on toast etc.

Thanks Jo, I agree that does sound weird but I will try anything. She only has real butter on toast anyway as she's always been to slim to worry about fats etc.
