    Afternoon all!

Roz - I'm suprised that your landlord hasn't done more. If they weren't prepared to clean it themsleves they surely should have got in touch with a cleaning company and got someone out ASAP. Surely it's a health hazard? I'm guessing the mess was made as she was ill given the extent, and if it's not cleaned.... yuck!
Moggins - Once she's better it might be an idea to supplement her meal with complan or similar. when I was a wee lass that's what my mum had to do - though you'd not believe it now ;) Hope all goes well at hospital when you visit your mum this eve.
Shez & Culppeper - We are lucky in that during the hols the LA pools offer free swimming to children during what would have been school hours. Perhaps worth lobbying your LA to do the same?
Got up at six and cracked on with accounts (early for me) and then did shopping after school run (morning round), picking up eldest on way home (also did Chemistry exam). Lovely half hour with him, then I fell asleep (at least I don't do it while driving!!!!)
House is a tip - but at least accounts nearly finished, talking of which....
    Catch up with all later!

    Hiya all

Well, I've been at home all day again and still not much done. But Kaz, I have updated my accounts.

Roz - that sounds horrible - eurgh. She must be ill, but even so she could have put some paper down or something. I bet you're looking forward to your flat.

Ice - enjoy your fry up, yum :)

I'm off to Uni soon - but feeling tired still. My left hand is really aching today, how long does it take to recover from an operation?

No news on house or job, I guess there is no use worrying about it.

Shez - I think you're right, maybe scales are NOT the weigh (tee hee) forward.

And a big hellooo to everyone else I didn't mention.

    Afternoon,

Have not had a chance to read all your posts yet i will do that tonight after the children go to bed.

I have had a busy day today.

    Cleaned out Guinie pigs,
    feeded and weeded the garden,
hovered and moped the kitchen floor,
    played badinton for 2 hours,
hovered and dusted the living room.

I am now haveing a well deserved rest.

Just about to go and dish up the stick'n'chew but just thought I'd nip on here again!
We went to get the Whiskas sachets for puscat and found that the 'oh so fishy' which we were advised to get, were £1 more expensive than the 'fishermans choice' and 12X 85g instead of 12X 100g but otherwise the same.
Sainsburys were not bothered which one we chose and even gave me change from the £4 voucher.

Kazonline both our local swimming pools are integrated into leisure centres and dont do free swimming. It costs over a pound just to walk through the door. They do have free swimming for under 5's which we used to take advantage of but ofcourse you cant go and get a swim yourself then as you are supervising your little ones anyway.

Free swimming should be available from most Local Authorities throughout the UK in the summer months. Sorry to hear that some lessons turned out to be 'messing about' sessions instead.

As for the cost of swimming, pools are probably one of the most expensive facilities to maintain. The HSe (Health & Safety Executive) have very stringent saftey requirements ranging from water disinfection to staff numbers and staff training that it's very expensive to run. I know that in my own LA for every £2.50 or so of the adult admission price the council has to subsidise it to the tune of approx £5.00 - that's per person! And they mostly all offer reduced prices for those on means-tested benefits, ranging from 40% to 80% reductions.

As swimming now has the most participants of all sports in England & Wales there must be loads and loads who can swim. Use your pool or lose it! Swimming pools are not a statutory provision and LAs are turning to closing more and more as pressure on their budgets sets in.

    [/end of rant]

    Hello everyone

I got back from school early-ish today as we're going to Hunstanton tomorrow (geography trip) leaving at 8am  The children nearly passed out when I handed round the letter last week! Plus, we don't get back to school until 5pm. A prolonged amount of time with my class will be exhausting! :D

OH is staying over with friends tonight and having a beer or two. They live close to where he works, so it's ideal for a catch up session for them all. This means that I'm home alone, so I'll mooch around on here for a while then try to think of inspirational things to write about my class in their reports.

    Hello everyone

WHAT a day!! Had to rush over to mum's this morning because on her return from her hoilday last night, she found a full scale flood in the house. The header tank had split and the water had soaked her bedroom and through to the lounge. I was going to start vaxing but it was so bad the insurance man said to leave it to the professionals. She's now distraught because the bedrom carpet they though they could save has been chopped up and taken away and she may have to have her ceilings taken down and cmpletely redone. It'soly a couple of years since she had the room done - new furniture and everything and it's now all soggy :( It always happens when you're away!!

So, between that and rushing round to do a couple of mystery shopping jobs this afternoon, I haven't had time to do anything bar make a spag bol for tea. My bedroom is a dumping ground for the laundry and I didn't even get time to make the bed this morning. A concerted effort in there after the boys are in bed methinks.

I'm going to put a 1/2 and 1/2 loaf in the BM shortly on a quick bake, then I may make the rhubarb cake I mentioned on the banana cake thread yesterday. It will either be lovely or it won't :D DW needs unpacking (oh yes, I got that done earlier ) and repacking and kitchen needs tidying after having made tea. The rest of downstairs isn't too bad and will wait till tomorrow.
Actually, whilst I have my vax down from the attic, I will do the downstairs carpets (AGAIN) tomorrow. I knew I needed it for something :)

All this talk of MMR reminds me DS2 should be having his pre-school booster soon. His little friend had his today, but I haven't had a letter yet. they have to have 2 injections now my friend tells me. Her son screamed and screamed and had to be sat on to have them given :( I just hope if I don't tell DS2 he'll be better.

Right, off to clean the kitchen then collect DS1 from Beavers.((hugs)) to all who need them.

Vicky - Spirited (allways in fights) individual(doesn't like rules), independant(not a good team player), sociable (talks when should be working).....
I'm sure you could tell me hundreds, but just thinking how a teacher might describe my sons challenging traits positively made me chuckle! Good luck - hopefully a good imagination is one of you talents ;)

Well, guess what ....... I've done my Accounts
    _party_  :j :j

    Wow does that feel good!
Hopefully they'll be happy with them, now I've just got to work out how many hours I've done per week......

House is looking seriously neglected, but hopefully I can crack on a bit with that tomorrow. A friend rang earlier to tell me that she's seen that there's a farmers market in my village tomorrow morning, so guess where I'll be heading :T
Best go and feed the remaining two (and me, though I've eaten loads of chocolate..... well isn't it brain food? No? I thought it was..... :rolleyes :D )
Hope you all have a good evening and a good nights kip,

I've written a couple for the nicer children that are along the lines of "x is a pleasure to have in the class and I wish him/her well at his/her next school". The trickier reports are the trickier children.................. I like your ideas though...
