I need to get washing dried but back door will neither open or lock properly- spoke to double glazing people and described the loose handle as "If it were a guy it would need viagra!" which sent us both into giggles.
Yesterday I "posted" the washing out of the top of the kitchen window as I cannot use the back door. That was fun!
My father has now been back at his flat for two days- got a phone call yesterday to say he had told the morning carer to "go away" - but when DDs went round he made out that he had three visits a day as arranged. May need to wait a few days and let it dawn on him that he does need the help and that there will be days when I and DH cannot be there.
He cannot put weight on his right leg and I am now worried that it could be a blood clot so told him to tell the nurse when she arrives but doubt that he will. Bumped into his evening carer and he "was lovely" to her - but she thinks that he may not be taking his antibiotics!!!
DDs went down last night with 2 roast chicken dinners, 1 lamb dinner and 1 roast beef dinner that can all be microwaved. I offered to order meals for him from Wiltshire on a weekly basis - but he does not want to deal with deliveries- so shopping locally for him instead.
Sorry about the whinge - will try to be less of a misery later.
Big hugs to all and especially nicki and johanne - I was so sorry to hear about your nan. Moggins - sorry your mum is so ill- and horrible to find out out of the blue."This site is addictive!"

Good Morning,
I'm having quite an OS day today so I thought I'd let you all know about it.
I washed my sheets overnight last night (a wm with a timer was the best invention ever) and left them hanging out to dry so hopefully it won't rain.
I grew my first batch of yoghurt last night so will have another look at it when I get home from work and it's cooled down. It seemed to be quite lumpy, is this normal?
I left mung bean and lentil soup cooking on my slow cooker, so I'll have yummy dinner when I get home. I've got to make cakes and flapjacks later for a coffee evening tomorrow.
Oh and taplady my brothers are doing their chemistry exam today too but wern't quite so confident as your son.2007 comping challenge - Won £25 / need £1040 -
Morning people!!
I'm still on cloud nine about the flat and not even this dodgy weather or the thought of an evening shift at work will bring me down!!!
Spent half an hour this morning on the phone to Smile bank trying to open a second account so that I can piggybank properly - surprisingly the guy was very nice, friendly and helpful  and also lives 2 minutes down the road from my parents!!!!! TBH I wasn't sure whether he was allowed to deal with me seeing as where my parents live is such a small community and I more than likely knew him, but I was enjoying our little chat so I didn't mention it!
To do today:
- ironing (only a few shirts to do so not too terrible)
- 1 load of washing
- quick dust around
- pack clothes that we are not going to wear in the next week or so
- get showered and dressed at some point!!!!!!!
- work 4.30 while 9
Have a good day everyone0 -

Bargain Rzl, I live in a studio flat and I love it!! It is just the one large room, a kitchenette and a fairly large bathroom. I have got a double futon which I sleep on and during the day when it’s a sofa I put a big throw/blanket over it. And to combat the curry smells I have this candle from Lakeland that you just burn while you’re cooking and it eradicates all cooking smells! It’s fab!! That’s the downside though, not having my own washing machine, but there is a laundry room that I can use. Good luck with the flat hunt and hope you find what you want.
Much cooler day today, it threw it down last night and all this morning. Still drizzling, although it was good as I got to wear my wellies to work!!!:D
Brekkie was all bran
Lunch will be tabbouleh, some fruit and a yoghurt
Dinner will be JP with chilli and cheese
I am doing Race for Life on Sunday, fingers crossed it goes ok!!:o
I am going to be using my breadmaker for the first time soon, hope it works ok!!! Can’t wait to have HM bread!!! I’ve got some yeast and some wholemeal flour, I don’t need a lot else do I?????????
Decided to stay in tonight, I am absolutely shattered!!! Boyf's brother lives in Sweden with his fiancee, who is Swedish. And they are over for two weeks, been out, at theirs or working every night! So boyf and I are going to have dinner then he is going to go home in time to watch the footy with his bro and I am going to watch the footy on my own whilst pottering!:p Got loads to do!!
Also, am really pleased as I worked out that I MAY be able to be debt free by next May!! :j And I have a grand master plan regarding w**k, mwa ha ha ha!!!!:D :rotfl:
Hope everyone has a good day! xxOfficial DFW Nerd no. 082! :cool:Debt @ 01/01/2014 £16,956 Debt now: £0.00 :j

Morning ... No paragraphs again  ... Didn't sleep well, cos of the humidity I think (woke at 3:30, had trouble getting back to sleep, then overslept and woke at 8:00) ... Purpleprincess, a studio flat would suit me just fine but I really do want the type with a partitioned sleeping area and proper kitchen (this type of flat is widely available within my price range in my preferred areas) as I want it to feel like a flat not a bedsit, and have space for an overnight guest on a sofabed ... If I was planning to rent I'd be less bothered but as I'm buying I want to be sure it's somewhere I see myself being comfortable for the foreseeable future ... W**k is crap ATM, nothing is getting done because various important people have gone part-time/gone on annual leave/gone on compassionate leave, so no matter how hard I try, nothing gets finished! ... Off out tonight, free opera tickets, wish I'd slept better last night because the last time I saw the show I'm going to see tonight (6 years ago) I was knackered and the music was so soothing I kept dozing off! ... Breakfast was muffins ... lunch will be cannelloni ... dinner will be pie & peas ... Hope all our invalids are feeling better ... love Rzl xx

DD's lunchbox all done and her bag ready. Glad its cooler today though for her and the pollen doesnt seem as bad. She has her sports day Friday and she has been chosen to swim for the school against the other schools in the area. So glad we insisted on swim lessons from about age 18months..shes a confident swimmer and yesterday on the news they stated that most 11 yr olds cant swim:eek:.....terrible isnt it!
Just a comment on this - the figures quoted were from a pilot project in two different areas of the country. Swimming is compulsory at KS2 but not at KS3. Because of some lack of provision nationally there is a programme of KS2 Top-Up swimming already in place backed by HUGE amounts of money and professional staff working with the School Sports Co-ordinator partnerships. This new money (£5.5M) is to catch up those pupils who enter KS3 without achieving curriculum requirements at KS2 - just the usual SEN stuff so that they achieve.
A lot of the persisent non-swimmers are in that state because of parental fear and parental collusion. It's heartening to read that you have taken your daughter from her childhood - wish more parents/carers/guardians would do it!

You know I said nothing could bring me down off cloud nine? Well I lied...
before I rant I shall explain my situation... I currently live in a shared flat with my OH and 3 others (2 girls and a boy, all of whom are late 20's/early 30's). Me and OH have two rooms decked out as a bedroom and as a living room, and share bathroom and kitchen with the others... Despite their ages, the people we are sharing with are basically scrubbers with no idea how to look after themselves - they have never once cleaned either the bathroom or the kitchen in as long as we have lived here (6 months)...
Well i have just stepped outside of our rooms and noticed something on the floor... it is a trail of poo leading from the door of one of the girls (who is 32!!!!!!!) to the bathroom... and it is all over the shower, toilet and bathroom door.... IT IS DISGUSTING.
I have phoned my landlord and he has been up to look at the mess, was nearly sick, and tried to knock on her door to speak to her about it - but there was no answer so he sent her a text.
So what do I do? The house is covered in s*** (sorry!!) and I can't get showered or anything because it is everywhere.......   I honestly don't know how this girl thought she'd get away with it but I really think she won't clean it up!!
Sorry for the rant but I had to get this off my chest!!!0 -
Morning all!
Feeling sorry for myself now cos i've just got back from having a filling done at the dentist and i'm all sore! Sob sob! Feeling really sick too.
Anyway, DD isn't at playgroup today because they've gone on their summer trip to the zoo, DD hasn't gone because we're going next month with my friend and her little boy. Shes playing in the back yard with her ponies.
Breakfast - DD had toast and orange juice, i had tea
Dinner - DD is having soup and bread, don't think i can face anything
Tea - Spanish Omlette and beans (another storecupboard meal, i'm getting good at this!)
Have a good day all

Morning everyone,
Its raining! My veggies will be so leased:p
Yesterday we actually ate some of them and they were lovely:T
The Postie has just delivered a voucher for free Whiskas fishy sachets (thanks freebies board) so old Puscat will be happy he has just had the last sachet from last years freebie stash (rationed to one a month).
I bought some new garden shears on Saturday as I'd broken mine, they are much better than the old ones ,stronger and longer handles. Then when I was home ,I tidied up the beds a bit and managed to break both of the garden forks .
We have a new (to us) dishwasher courtesy of a very nice man on the local freecycle group (he even delivered it) .We've done without for 2 years but I couldn't resist when I saw it on the list .Its a water economical model and only has a bit of a tatty door (we arent worried,it lives in the old downstairs loo). I had forgotten how lovely it felt ,not having a sinkful of stuff waiting till the evening to be washed up. Hubby was a bit mythed at first as he said it might use more water (it doesn't) but I noticed he didn't insist on doing the washing up last night as he usually would.I've turned the boiler timer back half an hour as we don't need so much hot water in the tank to compensate for the machine heating the water.
Our 2 learnt to swim with me at the leisure centre and then had some lessons with the swimming club.Their school did one half term a year of swimming and my DS said they didnt show you how to swim ,it was just messing about,so Im not suprised 11 year olds cant swim. We need the old swimming pools back where you could get a swim for 60p. It cost about £10 last time I took my kids to the leisure centre.
Oh well ,if things dont change, they'll stay the same!
