Just had a very surreal experience. Listening to Radio 4, while cooking children's tea, and Gavin Esler asked "do people in the west believe that the Arab World are less good at looking after art treasures" (or something to that effect) "we ask Jordan". I'm thinking "we ask who?" when Gavin says "and now over to Amman" :rotfl:  :rotfl:

Snowy - glad Teddy made it home safe and sound!
No sign of any rain here :(:(

p_d - if you are reading this :naughty: Go Back To Work!!! :p

Ok, preparing for the threads being merged, I'll do my update on this one ;)

Had the most wonderful woodland walk today and have sussed out a great spot to gather chestnuts when they come into season. Going back another time to gather the Elderflowers. Followed some fresh deer tracks, but they remained elusive, either that or my t-shirt scared them off

Came home with a bunch of speedwell and some flowering sage to add to the vase of Pauls Scarlet and flag iris. Going to make an infusion of sage tea later :)

    Afternoon everyone :hello:

Back from work now. I've taken the washing off the line as it is threatening to tip it down  We've had an incredibly hot day here today and both the children and I have all been quite irritable. It was too hot inside, it was too hot outside.................... You get the idea!

I've now got a stack of reports to write and a load of English books to mark. That's on top of preparing supper, that will be chicken stir fry. Not too stressful, but I've got to chop up the veggies that will be going into it! (oooh the effort :D)

Nothing else to report, I'm afraid...........

  • Hi all.

First day in my new job as Reception Administrator at a school today. I am shattered talk about thrown in at the deep end. I have never used a switchboard let alone work in a very busy school reception, the lady training me left at 3, I work till 4.15 so was on my own!!. The rest of this week I shall be on my own from 1-4.15. Then next week that's it just me.

Too tired to cook so had chippy, sandwiches all made for tomorrow and washed up so I think a glass of something then a snooze on the settee is the rest of my evening!!!
  • Evening all

DD has had her tea, and I'm just about to run her bath (thought I'd sneak a peep on here first ;) ) DH and I are having chicken and tagliatelle, washed down with beer for him and wine for me :D

My house is an absolute wreck - but it's just too hot to do anything about it  DD's packed lunch is made and in the fridge. Will sort out DH's and mine later on - then iron  all clothes for tomorrow morning. Hopefully this will free up a bit of time so I can clean the bathroom etc in the morning when it's cooler

    Catch you later

right. hello everyone. got VERY annoyed at work today - as you know today was first day back after 3 days off - left everything on my desk anyone could need including stuff needed to go over via hospital transport to a peripheral clinic - it was still there - despite a bl**dy big notice and my telling our useless manager about it! also nobody had typed my clinic (as promised) so i have people starting chemo today with nothing on them  then went to hospital apt - even though people kept asking me to "just do this before you go". My manager can think herself lucky she's off for two weeks sa I may have calmed down by then. Got in to see a doc an hour after apt time and get told (a) my brain levels have fallen :j BUT (b) I'm not ovulating and they don't really think there's anything they can do about it without my going private  asked to see consultant next time and magically they then decide to do some more tests as it looks like my Day 21 hormone level instead of taking it at the right time they might have been out by about a week - like i didn't try and tell them that when they gave me the forms last time and said do this on day 19, day 21 etc - i pointed out that when you have a 40-day cycle it's more like 26 but obviously I am not fit to be answering back to them!! DH said afterwards today "blimey that was like getting blood out of a stone"and I pointed out that the doc we saw was 100x better than the one i saw the other week. also the old losing weight chestnut came up so I immediately went to the greengrocers and got more fruit - I've had two large handfuls of cherries, 3 nectarines and a banana so far as well as a green salad with my omlette for dinner. I was going to do some research paper typing whilst DH watched the footie but I'm going to surf instead....... rather nicely though the relatives of a patient who passed away have bought me a box of choccies to say thanks for keeping them informed of what was going on and for all the running around I did to get their dad put on extra clinics etc......... which is nice. they are in the fridge at work. wow i feel better for that rant-ette........
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

Just requested details for a property to buy! How scary. However, the house is suspiciously cheap (for the area....) and we're just wondering how few floors there are etc etc.

    (((Rage))))

I've just spent a couple of very enjoyable hours in the garden moving pots around, blocking any gaps in the bottom of fences and noticed at least a dozen more jobs needing doing  *sighs* Had a real hoot with the boys and a couple of old fence posts as they challenged one another to have a 'beam' race. Now, if they'd asked me, I would have taken part too, but they didn't *sniff-wibble*, but I think that's only because they just *know* I would have beaten them at beam walking :p

Have (yet another!!) dental appointment tomorrow which is a bit daunting because the last time I sat in the chair, the Dentist ended up dabbing my teary eyes (bless him! I was mortified at being such a numpty turnip :o but I've had nothing but problems since an appointment last year went horribly wrong and have been having so many appointments since that I'm just worn down with it all) I'm hoping that I can keep my dignity tomorrow :o:o Come to think of it, I'm hoping even more that the poor man isn't in a state of anxiety himself!!!!

Oopsie, now gotta run, text demanding phone call .... sounds omnious!

Just in studio 2 watching Big Brother and having a surf (multi tasking ;) ) whilst DH is watching footie (how many weeks left?) Don't get me wrong I enjoy the England games, but every game

Never mind, the weather has't broken yet - still humid as hell. Feeling guilty as DH and I have a fan downstairs which we move upstairs when we go to bed, but DD swelters in her room. Am going to pop out tomorrow and get her a cheap one :A

Hope everyone is having a good night
