Morning all
Same problem here this morning Queenie - Gulls woke me early - managed to fall back to sleep though and woke up with a jump at 6 when the alarm went off.
The house is looking back to normal - not quite so sure how it gets so messy when we've been away on holiday...
Got stuck in a nasty jam on the M25 yesterday afternoon after visiting family for dinner near Gatwick....we sat in the queue for 2 hours before we were able to turn around and take a 3 hour detour......everyone else was doing the same thing so we were moving at a snails pace. Got back home gone 7pm last night and all fit for nothing from the heat. Luckily enough we were stranded right by the service station and just abandoned the car to go get some drinks...felt strange just walking off the motorway and leaving the car but we weren't the only ones.
I've got 3 little ones today - in stages - one arriving in about 20 mins, the others after school for a few hours, so I've filled the paddling pool, got the sand pit in the shade and put the gazebo to good use.
Must find the time to make a quiche later - got some chicken and cream needs using up, will serve with jacket potatoes and salad.
Got DD's some cool bags from tesco as new lunch boxes for this warm weather - they were only £1.89 and seemed well worth it - bunged in a freezer pack (wrapped in a flannel - hopefully it will be a bit damp and cool for them to freshen them up a bit).
I've steam cleaned the kitchen floor and the bathroom this morning - hoovered, washed up - 4 loads of washing done and dry!!!!!.....ten ton of ironing to do in a bit - but will wait for little one to have his sleep and put something on the telly to help me iron by.
Hope you all have a lovely day."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Penny-Pincher!! wrote:Taplady-I dont get high rate DLA. My GP & OT have told me to, but havent felt that I deserve it as there are many other people in worse situations than me. I know I should apply and ask them to look again but I hate all the form filling and just dont have the energy. I wouldnt use a motability car though, I knwo too many people who have had many problems. Rather buy myself IYSWIM.
PP, take your point about others worse off, but it's your right. If it's only forms you're worried about, have you tried CAB. We do loads of the things, so they aren't as daunting, and we also know how to fill in the forms for best effect.

Hi everyone!
Had a fantastic mini-hol in Dorset and wasn't I lucky with the weather. It's the first time for the small person in a B&B and all things considering [Aspergers] he coped very well. We enjoyed a lovely walk around Brownsea Island and another along the coastal path behind Swanage. Loads of beautiful dragonflies and butterflies. No cooking although did take snacky bits to cut the cost of the lunches and we did discover that Brewers Fayre did a very good meal deal before 6. Was extremely pleased to find that the Wimborne Folk Festival was on when we dropped in yesterday on our way home. OH swears I must have had prior knowledge but it was pure coincidence. The only problem was that there were loads of market stalls selling all the lovely unusual ethnic clothes I like...had theoretically spent £100 within the 1st five mins but treated the material girl to a £5 rainbow hanging thing which will go in my kitchen when I redecorate it and then put her firmly back in her box. Have however, decided that we're definitely going back to the festival [without the small person] next year for my late 40th birthday treat!!
Now back to mountains of washing and ironing....where does it all come from the laundry basket was empty before I left! Have done 2 loads today and one more to do. Will also have to hit Tesco as am out of basics. We've got the fence being redone today...it's flipping hot here. OH is going to run the BM, sort out our cheaper car insurance and make some lollies for me using my new moulds.
Plans for this week include watching small person doing his country dancing tomorrow, catching up on all the domestic trivia and going around to admire my friend's new house. Am also hoping to harvest the elderflowers and make some cordial.
Must dash. TTFN

Hi All
Race for Life is done and dusted for another year. I finished in 39 minutes, which is 4 minutes quicker than last year and I've raised £52 for Cancer Research UK. The hard part's collecting it in!!! I also recycled several water bottles that would've been binned after the event!!
Raided the bins to find stamps for charity this morning. I've been asked to consider becoming an army cadet instructor. Does anyone do this or have any opnions? Sounds like it would be interesting and I've been looking for something else to do.
Went to the South of England Show on Saturday and helped my friend's mum out on her stand. Got loads of bargains as it was the last day. Did some haggling and got about a pound of duck sausages for £5! There were marked up at £4 for half a kilo:T Got a deal on some cakes and Italian breads, which are in the freezer and was given a couple of other things for helping out on the stall. Also got some dips which last forever, and were really cheap but so nice.Comping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
Yahooo!!!
I've just moved some more money into the summer holiday day out fund and it's now topped £500. :j :j
Neither I nor DH can understand how I've done this as this time last year we had no money to go anywhere and yet he was on a higher salary. It meant a really miserable boring summer for the kids
And yet more good news - DH has two days overtime this week which means I won't have to raid the savings account to pay the bills in August
DD is still looking wan on the sofa and everytime I try to go and do something she starts crying for meOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things
F U Fund currently at £2500 -
Back - very hot and when my dad just phoned a few minutes ago he said I sounded like I'd just run a marathon
:rotfl:
Since I was last here I've done:- Rest of the shopping away, just the stuff to go upstairs left now..and put the trolley away
- Batch of dishes
- Kitchen cleaned after a fashion. The floor still needs to be done but I'll do that tonight after DD has gone to bed.
- Update Money
- Ebay items to list
- Clean Bathroom
- Clean bedrooms x 2
- Clean landing/stairs/hallway
- Clean livingroom
- Clean kitchen floor
- Scan / Shred old papers that we don't need anymore.
) to put the end of the shopping away and find our craft stuff. If I remember rightly I've put it in a new box in the bottom of DD's wardrobe..or at least I hope thats where I put it!!!!
Oh well, off to check on weather situation and then on with jobs since I need to leave to get DD is an hour. Laters :wave:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
OH is much better this morning, he slept until just after 5am without coughing, so not too bad, did manage a bit more sleep in quick naps.
I went off to see a friend this morning and left him on his own, I was a bit concerned but he survived....... even had my lunch ready for when I got back.
Need to clean the kitchen its a wreck, but its too warm, we keep getting showers and then hot sun, so the rain is not really doing much good.
Two days to go before we go to Birmingham..... I think OH will be alright to go...... as its his birthday treat I really do not want to lose the £30 for the tickets...............

Sorry - haven't had chance to read all the posts as I shouldn't really be on here....
Moggins - stewed apple is great for dodgy tummies when a little food can be tolerated, it is thought to have a 'cleansing' effect on the digestive system.
Generally I think it's fluid only for 24 hours (flat cola as recomended earlier is often advised, but make sure it's not the diet type!) then if wanted a little food, preferably bananas, rice and white toast (low fibre carb that won't irritate the bowel) and of course apple (I find the stewed apple is more palatable when ill). Avoid all types of Dairy until recovered.
Lol, after typing all of this I've just realised that you probably know all this and more!! Still, maybe it'll help someone else one day.......
Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery and plenty of dry weather to cope with all the extra washing,

Just had a very surreal experience. Listening to Radio 4, while cooking children's tea, and Gavin Esler asked "do people in the west believe that the Arab World are less good at looking after art treasures" (or something to that effect) "we ask Jordan". I'm thinking "we ask who?" when Gavin says "and now over to Amman"
:rotfl:
:rotfl:
Hugs and get well to all who need it, and that seems like lots today.
Very impressed with all of those of you with the energy to clean in this weather. Did a bit of ironing (had to as I couldn't see over the pile  , and DD needs school shirt), but no good.
I've made elderflower cordial (thanks Thriftlady  ), and will take to annual midsummer barbie on Saturday. It's made the kitchen smell gorgeous.
Started swapping seeds. Was wanting to buy mixed salad and little gem lettuce for next year. Now they'll be free (well, price of a few stamps). :j
Got my 100 thanks today - thanks to all who I've helped. Penny. x
