Hi Penelope Penguin, I will look into it again. Last time I looked into it they didn't offer any discounts and those at focus were too expensive. I did have one at my old address in Aldershot (that council did have a discount scheme) but had to leave it there.
The council where I am are very slow on the recycling front. We've only had a curbside recycling scheme for the past couple of years, and at the moment that only consists of clear plastic bags - and we need to seperate everything into individual bags. I've only just found a way to manage this that doesn't involve having 5 bins on the go in the kitchen!!!
How do you manage your composting? Do you trek outside every time you have something to put in it? Or do you have some sort of system going? I'd soon get fit if I walked down the steps to the garden every time I had to put something in the composter!!!!

PS reading all about your chicks has made me want some. My neighbours aren't very impressed with me at the moment as it is - I'm sure they'd love it I got some... ;)
    January '06 Grocery Challenge (4th - 31st) £320.
    Week 1 - £73.99 Week 2 £5.10 (so far :p )
Someone burst my bubble and I lost the plot so no idea what I spent now... :(I will try to work it out.
    Other Jan :- Petrol £20.41, Clothes £8.50, House £3.

    Good Afternoon All

Have had a lovely but non os day. Did get up early to make oh & kids packed lunch as they went to a truck show today, myself had lunch with friends at a casino - played a tiny bit of roulette - lost but the meal was cheap so it was still a reasonable day out.

Now home and need to wash school fleeces am also going to be good and do some ironing, luckily the kitchen is cool as long as i dont put the oven on and noone feels like food at the mom so I should be ok.

Kids are chillin in front of the telly as they are totally worn out, baths and early nights soon.

Have got yesterdays thread to catch up on so will go now - have a lovely evening.

    Evening all

Nicki & Johanne - sorry to hear of your loss - my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family just now

    ((((hugs)))) - to everyone else

Sun took a little while to come up today - still got 2 loads of washing out mind you (both done during the night on the cheap leccy) - had long lie this morning -was still in bed when OH came home at 1030am - he clumped through the front door - tiptoed up the stairs then tells youngest cat to stop yamming when he was in the toilet - what was the point I told him when you clumped in the door !!

OH now away to work - dinner for him is pasta (made too much yesterday for lunch so kept it for him for tonight) with chicken in a spicy tomato sauce.

Kitchen all tidy - DW is just awaiting my dinner plate
Kitchen and LR floors brushed and washed
    Washing all put away

Just off to catch up on some programs I have recorded.

Hope you all have a lovely evening
    Take care

I've still no motivation but at least i now feel cooler and awake. the wonders of tea tree shampoo.

I've just sorted out some online banking, and i suppose i've run out of excuses now.

Are you sure no-one wants to come round and cook me some food, and finish my school work for me? And if anyone insists, my year nine class would probably love someone else to take them tomorrow.

    No?????

    Why not??

Can't wait till Dh is home tomorrow to be looked after and have some sensible adult conversation.

Plus, short week this week as i have booked Thursday off to go for my scan.

Must get on. Quick slap round the chops and a splash of cool water again me thinks.

I'd best avoid here till tomorrow i think.

    Michelle, xx

Kaz, don't know how PP does it, but I have an enamel miniature milk urn in my kitchen that I put small amount so compostable waste in to. It is then emptied into the main compost bin in our garden nightly or if forgetful, 3 times a week :o Veggie peelings are dealt with the old fashioned way ... wrapped in old newspaper then taken to the compost bin.

Keep your eye out in the local paper for any council 'sales' on compost bins, but, a word of caution ... in my area there has been a spate (sp?) of thefts of water butts and compost bins (the C. bins simply because the brainless villains have mistaken them for water butts :wall: :rotfl: :o ). Also, try to find a 'Freecyle' in your area and put up a wanted for a composter, you may be pleasantly surprised ;)

Rather pleased with myself today ... aside from mattress turning (UGH!) and getting all my washing dried, managed to find a spare 1/2 hr to listen to a new meditation cd which I splurged on yesterday from the Health Food Shop :o ... oooooh, it was such a tonic!!! Btw, talking of HF shops .. noticed that ours has large drums of "Ecover" products that you simply take your empty Ecover bottle of whatever and fill it up for a nominal reduction in price simply because you provide your own 'packaging' :D Nifty to know as I use Ecover wash up liquid :j :j :j

Popped over to return some goodies to my friend and came away with a freshly 'delivered' rabbit ;) Timed it so that we were home at the same time the SC Parsley Roast Chicken was almost finished and have literally taken the chicken out and popped the rabbit straight into the chicken juices/garlic/parsley  Should be good to go for tomorrows evening meal :D:D Free food!! :j :rotfl:
Boys experienced their first 'view' of a freshly caught rabbit being gutted and skinned - where they fazed? (sp?) Nopey!!! :D Good job too, because we're eating it's (potential) cousin tomorrow:rotfl: :o

Another evening of X-stitch happening here, I am determined to make headway on that sampler, not the golden thread one, but the royal and burgundy one tonight.

Now, on a scale of 1 - 10, how glad am I that I got the essential ironing done this morning? ;)

Thank you for sharing with me that I have inspired you to get on with your Pooh.

I got into X-stitch when my mother died (very therapeutic ;) ) and I had a gorgeous lop eared bunny that I began ... only took me 10yrs to finally finish it :o By then, didn't like the frame it came in so made it into a bed cushion instead. Likewise, I designed my own X-stitch to commemorate my dd's birth - but, as I hadn't begun the hobby when she was born (too busy with my sewing machine and making my "go bag" bag for her birth) I began it when she was 21yo. Yet again, it was made into a heart shaped bed cushion. Only a X-stitcher/crafter can fully appreciate the true meaning of a WIP!! (Work In Progress ;) ) Or, should that be UFO (Un-Finished Object?)

I think the only project I completed "on time" was a birth sampler for my 1st grandchild - I felt sooooooo proud; both of my g/d *and* completing the project ... that was over 8yrs ago now and I struggle to finish anything on time. :o Like the tortoise ... I get there in the end ;)

Best of British with you Pooh, bw, no doubt we'll both be struggling in a couple of months time, but if we inspire one another, it will be worth it! :D:D:D
