Morning (just about still is i think!)

I'm just having a bit of a break. I've been hard at the marking since 7:30 this morning. WM has just finished its 3rd load (after the 7 yesterday i should probably give it a bit of a break.) I think i've now washed everything that isn't moving. Perhaps the cats should watch out. They are currently snoozing. :rotfl:

I'm a bit tired today. I didn't sleep too well with the heat. I let the cats out all night as it was much cooler. I tried sleeping in my underwear on top of the covers, but it didn't work too well. I should have probably got up at 3, and then i'd have even more done by now.

I'm supposed to be finishing the marking today (deadline is tomorrow but i will be at the day job.) I still have about 165 papers to go so i don't fancy my chances much. Good job i have no distractions apart from MSE.

I might end up working late tomorrow night and stop up to see DH when he gets back. His flight lands down south at 7, and then it will take perhaps 3-4 hours to drive home. If the heat continues, i wouldn't be asleep anyway.

I suppose i should go and do a bit more before lunch. If i grab quick meals that will give me even more time at it.

Must remember i also need to do some ironing, and wash my hair and plan my lessons for tomorrow and as far through the week as i can. Year ten will be doing coursework this week so that should be easy to organise.

Nicki and Johanne, hugs to you both and the rest of your family. I hope you can find some comfort from being with family at this time.

Take care one and all. Enjoy the rest of the day,

    love, Michelle xx

I've finally worked out why I can't get any work done, it's too hot to put my working boots on and I just can't get into the right frame of mind in my sandals :D

That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it anyway :D

the kids have been out in the back garden early this morning playing in the "sandhouse" which is a little tikes playhouse filled with sand. being undercover it keeps the sun off the babes! I was given a large wooden playhouse by a friend a week ago, so the little tikes one wasnt getting used. better than a sandpit!

What a brilliant idea! :T :T :T Wonder if my little darlings (13 and 11) would like one of these?

WEll yesterday went well and the children were little angels at sil's house

Today has been very productive thus far have managed to get rid of some stuff on freecycle and dp has sold on ebay and has been picked up a motorbike that has been sat in the garage for about 6 years (junk) and will hopefully getting rid of the rest of it in the next month or two.
DP has just finished putting up a swing for the children so they are very happy.

    Hello Peps,

Well today, on such a glorious day I am sitting at a computer trying to make head or tail of another assignment.....what's wrong with using plain English to tell me what to do??!! Ah well, I can sit and stare out of the window! OH is out this morning, but may go out for a bike ride later if he's back in time and if I've done enough school work....

Made a lovely banana bread last night in the breadmaker as OH was concerned he'd throw away the two blackening bananas!! It turned out yummy and I'm eating it whilst reading and typing!! Might not be any left for him when he gets back if he's too long!!

Anyone any ideas on how I can keep things in my garden from dying out in this heat? I have a very open south facing garden that everything gets sun on from about 10am through till about 6-ish. Other then watering twice a day with a watering can - as we aren't always here twice a day! My rocket wiltered and died last sunday - it didn't get its Saturday evening water, and it became history, as did my Sweet peas and corriander :( Am trying to work out if I can rig some plant watering thing up, but not sure what or how? so any ideas welcome!!!

I'm off for coffee and banana cake now so will catch you all later

    Afternoon all

Murtle - not very attractive but OS and could well save your plants when you aren't there, but why not get an old plastic drinks bottle/milk carton, pierce little holes in the lid and invert, pushing it into the soil. The water will then drip out into the plant and it won't dry out. You can always remove them when you are sitting in the garden :D If you cut the bottom off or make a larger hole to fill back up - then you don't HAVE to remove them.

I was up before everyone else this morning so got a cuppa in peace. I was at Aldi's for 10am for their specials - an electric cool box. Also got some new sleeping bags and Mr TM some trekking sandals so he's pleased. Then went and bought myself some summer clothes at Asda and Matalan, as well as some leather sandals for the boys. Embarrrasingly enough, the CC was refused at Matalan - turns out that as it is a new card, it will take 10 working days for the payment to clear and it was max'd out!! So I've got the credit limit upped cos I want to use it before next Saturday - I want me Tesco clubcard points :D (It's 0% so keeping the money till I need to pay it to them, of course)

Done very little today apart from the shopping. Will put WM on in a bit - got a load of very grubby darks to do which will need some pre-treating. Boys and grass stains on their school uniforms! DS2 is going to a party at teatime so will check my mum's house over and water the garden.

Ok - off to mow the grass, put DW and WM on and offer the old TV on freecycle. We're using it as a 'traffic calming measure' in the hall ATM :rotfl:

    Have a good day.

i am having one of THOSE days
had baked a lovely rhubarb and custard lattice top pie, and a chocolate cake from the bero web site
had left them both on the cooling rack near the kitcjen window - curtains drawn half way to avoid sun - window wide open
popped into the loo ( yep still going ) and heard an almighty crash
the window had blown to - knocking the rack and pie and cake onto the floor - splattered everywhere!

feeling well resourceful though - have scooped it all up - mixed in quite a lot of fluffy whipped cream and added some amaretti biscuits i was given as a gift and have put most of it into individual sundae dishes as my own version of eton mess lol

it also forced me to mop the kitchen floor - which i wouldnt have done otherwise!
