Murtle: Hello! Recipe for BM banana bread, please? I make mine in the oven, and it never works. (Many apologies, pressed your thanks button, and it disappeared without thanking you:mad:  )

JamieD: that sandhouse is double fabtastic on toast! Never mind the children, I'm having one for myself!

Brokenwings: brilliant! Great to know I'm not the only one to pick food from the floor. Hope you have no bits of pot in it, or the game's up.

Vicky: thanks for the invite. We'll be there around 6:30 if we set off now! I'll bring a tiramisu that's in the fridge.

  • Hiya all :) Long time no see!

I haven't been on MSE for ages now and my spending and O/S has gone downhill drastically as a result :( Feeling like a bit of a failure now. I get into the O/S way of things and then think i can manage to carry on but then i fail again. Lots of different things have contributed to it, mainly my health (been ill quite a lot recently with my FM) and my Boyf (bless him i love him to bits but he spends money like water and its rubbed off on me). So i am back for good this time and determined to start over, i owe my mam about £200 (mine and DD's summer clothes etc) so that is my first task, to get that repaid and then back on track with a budget.

Hope everyone is well, i'm gonna spend some time now catching up on recent posts.

    Welcome back Kate

There's no such thing as leaving OS, we just take a little break every now and again. You know what they say, home is a place where they have to take you in :D

Peace for me at last, DS is cleaning his room and DD has gone to her party, all ironing done and shopping for lunchboxes done, just tea to prepare and I am finished for the day. She looked so cute dressed as Snow White with her dark hair all freshly washed and glossy. Wish I'd had batteries in the camera.

    Afternoon :)

Church was great this morning - our choir tenor returned today after six weeks off for heart bypass surgery. He is feeling really well now, though suffering from an infection in the scar in his leg where they took the vein for his heart.

Queenie thanks for remembering my afternoon of relaxation :D which I'm currently in the middle of.

I decided to come home in the end, so I could take a detour via the shops for some much-needed supplies - Wilko's for plasters and antiseptic cream (for foot blisters and sweat rash - yick), stardrops, baking parchment, bin bags & flea spray, and Primark for some popsocks for work and some new knicks.

I did do a wee bit of housework after getting home - bringing in washing, putting more out, and setting off a "flea bomb" in the living room to sort out the carpet & chairs. The cats bring the fleas in, and my housemate doesn't get bitten so doesn't notice they're there  whereas I get eaten alive and take as swift action as possible! I'd already been over the carpets in my room and on the stairs and landing yesterday with spray.

I did think about taking my PC out into the garden but am enjoying the shade in my bedroom, which is quite pleasant with the window wide open and the (disgusting, must wash them) net curtains blowing in the breeze.

I will be off out again in an hour and a half, so can spend a good hour of that doing nothing but lying on my bed sipping a large glass of water. Then just need to do the washing up and probably have a quick shower to freshen up before I go out.

P'raps I should phone my mum, we haven't talked for ages.

    Rzl xx

    i've run out of mojo.

I was going great guns until next door but one started with a BBq so i had to bring the clothes in before they took on the smokey aroma. The male adults appear to be running round the garden playing some sort of game and whooping loudly. They are making more noise than the kids on the front anyway.

Now i'm just pooped. My back is sore and i haven't got as far as i need to and don't want to do anymore.

I think it may be time to go and wash my hair and then chill in the bath with a magazine for a while. By which point the neighbours may be eating and making less noise, and i might find some more motivation from only knows where. Next weekend i'm doing nothing. It's official.

Only by then i'll be thinking about report writing, and DH will be keen to start decorating the living room. At this rate i'll be looking forward to the arrival of the baby for a well earned rest. :rotfl:

Hope you are all nicely chilled out. Why can't the weekend be longer???

    Michelle, xx

Love the idea of bottles in soil to water plants TM, I'll try this with my lettuce in gro-bags as they seem to drink so much!
Murtle - Last year I finally 'got around' to putting down some bark on the flower bed in my front garden. It has made a HUGE difference to my watering regime. Even in this blistering heat I've not once had to water it.
Also, someone told me that they have found that by using their H/M compost they don't have to water their plants in between rain sessions, even when the weather has been fine for days. Haven't tried it myself (yet) but since reading the posts on here I've been noticing how much compostable stuff I bin, so I may splash out on a bin to help the enviroment.... ;)

Are you sure you live in Rotherham and not in the same area as me? :) That sounds exactly like the noise that I can hear.......

Kaz, please, please, please get a composter. Local authorities often sell them for low price to encourage you, and reduce landfill, and so meet targets that they have. Here in East Yorks, you can buy one that retails at £35 for £5 including delivery.

Composting is the biggest thing you can do to reduce domestic waste to landfill, and another benefit is that your dust/wheelie bin will smell sweet. Even in this heat, not a whiff from mine.
