Morning all. It's a beautiful day is Staffordshie, I hope it is where you are too. Just done a quickie in the kitchen IYKWIM! Washing is out and another load in. Not doing any more housework today, it's far too hot.
Going outside in the shade to chill, this afternoon will watch some footie and try not to feel guilty about doing nowt.
Hope you all have a good day, soba
  • good morning everyone

thankyou for the lovely welcome yesterday :D

Well it's baking hot already down here in sunny Sussex. I have to brave the lawnmower today as my lawn is starting to look more like a jungle. I always put it off because myself and DD1 suffer very badly with hayfever but as I am working for the next few days I MUST do it today.

I also need to do some housework and now I am wishing I got motivated earlier this morning instead of doing nothing for about 2 hours:o

DD2 has gone on the bus to the beach with her friend. It's the first time I have let her go to the beach alone and so I'm a bit nervous - think a few calls to her mobile will be forthcoming today, just so I can make sure she is ok. She has gone off with lots of cold water, a packed lunch, an old t-shirt, an old hat, oodles of sun cream and lots of instructions about staying burn free - gosh I sound like a nagging mother :o

DD1 is staying home as she has terrible hayfever and can't be bothered to do anything (typical 14 yr old I guess).

Dinner is going to be chicken salad as it's too hot to cook. It really is baking hot down here. I will be glad to get to w*** tomorrow so I can sit in a nice air-conditioned office. (I can't believe I actually just said I will be pleased to go to w***!!!!!!!)

Well I hope you all have a lovely day, whatever you are doing.

    bye for now :D

Morning all, it's a beautiful day here, not too hot and very breezy, just how I like it :D

DS is cleaning the standy bits from the top of the cooker for me, DD has cleaned her room beautifully and I have sorted out the presents and card for the fancy dress party she is going to this afternoon. We had a moments panic when her Snow White costume came out of the wardrobe covered in red streaks and we didn't know what it was. Luckily a quick swoosh in some cool water and stardrops and it came right out, it's now drying on the line ready for this afternoon.

I think I'm going to follow Queenies example and iron the uniforms this morning before it gets any hotter. And tea is sausage casserole which I'm going to prepare shortly.

It's already proving to be a much better day than yesterday, I hope everyone else has a great day.

Also in a quandary what to do about my neighbours.

BW, been in the garden, and thinking about what I was trying to say earlier. A call to Environmental Health at your Local Authority won't go amiss. You can ask them, without giving your name, what they would do in such a hypothetical situation, also without giving neighbour's name. This will at least give you an idea of what the outcome might be.

Hope this helps. I'm now taking off my CAB hat and going back into the garden.

    morning everyone!

i was up early this morning so have already 2 loads done and on line. washing and washing up are up to date...cant say the same for the ironing though!

have made a batch of cherry cakes and a mushroom soup for lunches this week. a chilli on the go now and flapjacks to go in oven in a mo.

the kids have been out in the back garden early this morning playing in the "sandhouse" which is a little tikes playhouse filled with sand. being undercover it keeps the sun off the babes! I was given a large wooden playhouse by a friend a week ago, so the little tikes one wasnt getting used. better than a sandpit!

it is so hot today although the house is staying nice and cool.

my tumbling tomato plant (in hanging basket) has started producing little green tomatoes. the potatos and beetroots are coming along nicely!! i love growing my own stuff and getting the eggs from the hens too!

some ironing will be required this evening regrettably....uniforms need doing! Im having a bit of a cupboard clear out today..trying to use up some stocks and hopefully spending less on food this week!

hope everyone has a good day!

Quite a traumatic morning here......OH kept me awake all night coughing again, decided he needed medical treatment, so phoned the emergency Doctor, he has a very sore chest from coughing..... she insisted that I phone for an ambulance and get an EGC done, chest pain............get it...........paramedic and ambulance turn up.......ECG done, chest sounded, no heart attack, we then had to go through the whole rigmarole again......eventually almost 2 hours after I phoned they agreed to send a Doctor out........we are still waiting.....................when they come it will a case of telling then it all again.

We were at the allotment yesterday watering in the evning also had to water the plants in the garden, they were all drooping rather badly..... they are better this morning.....................

Roast Lamb for supper with the trimmings......doing nothing else, its too hot!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi all
It's a beautiful day here in Berkshire, but beware, there will be loud explosions in my area tomorrow. My neighbours fence fell down some weeks ago, they have paid a local company to repair the fence & it's still not done, this means I cannot let my grandson out to play & I cannot let my rabbit & guinea pig out to graze. My neighbours though nice enough are a bit wet & don't have the b**ls to phone the company to complain.
My neighbours are now away for 2 weeks & I'm feeding their pets, they left me the phone number of the people paid to do the fence, and I will phone them on Monday at 9am to see what is happening. If the fence is not repaired on Monday I will be phoning every hour on the hour with a polite enquiry as to their progress. it's called 'the dripping tap technique' I do hope it works. Hope everyone has a good day.

  • Hello everybody!!! Well, today DH has assurred me he will build the wall - it's only a little wall too - do you think they had this problem with the Great Wall of China? I'm sure the Emperors did a little bit more than go "hmmm" when the workmen said they weren't finishing it on time. Y'see this all has a knock-on effect. I need to put a new washing line up but can't until the bags of cement are moved i.e. used, from the line of the line and I'm fed up of washing draped everywhere. As it is I am sacrificing my day trip to the seaside for the wall - but then we'll only spend money on petrol etc and it's sunny enough to stay at home.:A However, today I am going to attempt an omelette. Yes, I know OS and have never done an omelette - well DH can't stand eggs so I tend to have them scrambled on toast really but thought if I could master omlettes then it would be another cheap and easy meal for me - and I'm getting a bit fed up of feta cheese/tuna salad at night when DH's at work. The front garden also needs cutting but DH has said that that is his job due to the fact that I have a dodgy left hand (my neck problem is coming back) which means I have to rest the arm if I'm going to hold down my typing jobs (which we need). So,,,,, I see a long day ahead of me with nothing but a pitcher of OS lemonade....... I know, I will struggle to get through but somehow.....:rotfl: Actually I might go and put the washing on if there's a full load - think of it as builder's incentive!!! Dinner tonight will be salad with hot onion and potato fry ............ mmmmmmmmm

    Ta ta everybody!!!!!
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

Hi Yall, Mrs MATH and the MATHLETTS are at church and I keep popping into the inferno which used to be my kitchen. I am currently mid roast with all the trimmings as Mum and Dad are joining us for lunch. My Dad is a really fussy eater and if it and hot and comes with gravy is ain't a dinner. I hope he appreciates me risking heat stroke to make it for him, although I flatly refuse to make his favourite treacle steamed pud today and am serving fresh strawberries with HM strwaberry mousse and whipped cream instead.

The MATHLETTS need to be run to and from rehearsals the minute the roast chicken has been gulped so I can't wait to go to church tonight and sit in the cool and quite for an hour or so and rest. LOL

Brokenwings We used to have a neighbour like that who also plied her trade from home IYKWIM and found the only way to get through life was to pretend they wern't there. Don't have any advice but wish you well.

    Tootles Big hugs

P Penguin Nice to see you on the boards again please accept my belated welcome. All other newbies please feel free to share this I'm sure Penguin won't mind. LOL

OHHHHH how I wish I were at the coast! I'm going over next weekend instead and they have given out rain. LOL

Have a good day and stay cool.
