We now have second beak starting to show. Will keep you posted..........
DS now totally forgot about footie. He has a joke for you: How much are chicks?
They're CHEEP!
He has plenty more where they came from. I'm expecting a call from penguin biscuits any day, wanting to discuss a deal.
BTW, we've been discussing names. Any suggestions. Currently the cokerell will be Cyril, and hens will be Eco Chick,Compost, and then we're stuck.

Good Morning everyone
I too am a fellow lurker. I've been reading this thread for months, but apart from the occasional post for help, have never really 'joined in'.
This is probably going to sound mad but I always think of the OS board and its members as the 'peace and calm' part of MSE. I come here to read and borrow much needed money-saving tips and if I'm feeling stressed I find that reading about all the regulars on here helps to de-stress me, as you are all so helpful and friendly.
I've been trying to pluck up the courage to come and say hello on the daily thread for ages, and today seemed like a good day:D
I'm trying to be more OS than I used to be, mostly because finances are very tight and I have picked up so many, many tips to save me money. I think my favs have to be the washing powder/vinegar/soapnuts/soda crystals savings. I used to be a Persil Tablet buyer - but no more
I realise this is becoming a major waffle post but as I've finally plucked up courage to post I might as well make the most of it lol.
Thankyou everyone for all the fantastic ideas I have gained from you all. I will try and post as often as I can, if you don't all mind of course. I think it might inspire me to try that little bit harder in my money saving quest.
Well I'll shut-up now and let everyone else get a word in. Hope you all have a lovely day. Mine is going to be spent having a clear up in the house and catching up on washing - a totally domestic day today (if I can get myself off MSE that is).0 -

Well I have to suggest chickadee as a name don't I? Rude not to!
Hope everyone is having a great OS weekend. I haven't posted for a while so hello to everyone. Welcome back Squeaky! I saw your post yesterday and its good to be hearing from you again.
It is fabulously sunny here. I have my whites on the line drying and another load in the WM. OH comes home at weekend with a pile of washing to be done, ironed and packed up again before he shoots off back to Wales on a Monday at the crack of dawn. I'm getting quite used to the routine now, although last week DS went to Pontin's with his dad so I had the house to myself all week. Total freedom and full control of the TV remote control but it is scary when you have been watching something late at night and then you have to go upstairs in the dark on your own!
BM is on. First time in a while. I haven't been eating much bread and it doesn't seem worth it much of the time. Definitely a winter comfort thing I think.
I need to get some sawdust for the guinea pigs today. I buy a huge bale of dust-extracted wood shavings and it lasts about 4 months. I mix it with shredded paper and they seem to be just fine. They are having a run out on the garden today, enjoying ripping the grass up.
Tomatoes are doing brilliantly in the greenhouse at mum's. Also the courgettes and tumbler tomatoes are looking good too. Should have a good crop later in the year. I planted potatoes in my old dustbin (we have just got wheelie bins) and they have gone mad!
Anyway, must go to get wood shavings before they close.
Have a good weekend everyone.

Morning all.
PP I'm glad you had a good night.
Penelope Penguin I am envious of your chicks, I am still waiting for the delivery of my henhouse, I must ring them this week. It's very late
Queenie, have a good day at the beach
Michelle I still haven't worked out which band I fall into yet
Bargainrzl how do you fit so much into a day?
I am having a very strange day, I was supposed to be going into town for the medieval fair and then to the circus tonight but DS has put paid to all that as he is now grounded and was not allowed to go to cycle club this morning and is also not going to his dad's either. I finally blew a fuse with him this morning and shouted so much DH got back out of bed (he was working last night) and joined in. I'm sick of him treating me like the local skivvy and now thanks to him plonking his bike against the clean white shirts hanging up I have to work out how to get the oil off them when I have run out of ace bleach. Any suggestions gratefull received.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Morning all (just)
Back from our hols, had a lovely time, stunning weather and great entertainment. It was a holiday camp on the sussex coast, can heartily recommend it....our apartment was spotlessly clean, had everything we could need and was a very relaxing break from home life.
Washing's blowing merrily in the lovely cool breeze here today, it's keeping the heat bearable....I'm suffering from my usual reaction to the sun..break out in hives all over my chest and arms and have to dose up on anti histimine and stay out the sun for a week, then it all dissapears and I'm fine.......so I'm lurking indoors today. DH has just put the gazebo up and DD's are playing happily with their bratz on a blanket with a radio on...lovely to see them playing together.
OS wise today.......need to put a chicken in the SC for tonight....that's about it...I'm still in holiday mode and the housework will still be there on monday morning when everyone's back at work.
Decided to join the local health club and pool for the summer - it's £25 a month for unlimited swimming and it's on the bus route so I should be able to get some use from it......DD's will be able to swim for free and DH will cost £1 a time - not a bad deal.
Anyway - hope you all have a wonderous weekend."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

Hello everybody,
Welcome to all the new ones. I am about to hit the sack. Just got on to the computer, Ex DIL has been hogging it most of the night.:D Me & DH had to take DGS off to the doctor's today. He has a ear infection. Got some antiobiotics for him so hopefully in a couple of days he will be fine. He has to be taken back on Tuesday to check it out. EX DIL will do that back at her home.
It's raining here tonight. After dropping them off to the station tomorrow, we will nosy on to the markets & then going visiting friends.
I hope you all will be cheering on Australia when they play on Monday.Especially you Ticklemouse.
Bye for now.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
