Morning queenie, PP, penelope penguin, funky fairy and jo, and everyone else as you arrive.:o
It's a peaceful morning here. I'm just finishing off breakfast and debating whether to pop to the local shops now before the rush later. I only need a few bits to keep me ticking over while DH is away, and then back to ASDA next weekend. I think i might treat myself to some ice cream.
I need to do a kitchen tidy up. I haven't washed up for a couple of days as i've been sat with my feet up, so that, plus lots of washing, plus marking is my to do list for today. I might try and have a bit of a bathroom clean too, and then a soak at some point this evening and wash my hair.
I was thinking to myself that us OS'ers fall into 2 camps really. The early birds and the night owls. from reading what everyone gets up to, that is when they are most productive.
I'll probably pop in and out today as i get through chunks of work. I've decided to do 10 papers at a time, and then do something else for a bit. That is usually most productive.
Best go and make a start or i'll be here all day.

Morning everyone :hello:
Queenie and Penelope Penguin it's so nice hearing about your hens. I'm very envious. Hopefully when we eventually buy our own house we'll be able to think about having some.
Well, I tried to post yesterday, but our internet connection was having none of it! So, I've switched it off and switched it back on again and we seem to be cooking
It was OH's birthday yesterday and we both spent it in our respective workplaces. OH was then supposed to go out for half a pint with one of his work colleagues, but this work colleague forgot and didn't have his mobile with himAnyway, his birthday meal from me was garlic bread, pizza and chocolate brownie cheesecake which all came from a packet
I'm sorry that I let you all down.:o It also meant that I didn't have much washing up to do.
Tonight I'm taking him to a nearby "gastropub", which should be nice - that's his proper birthday treat and it also guarantees that I won't fall asleep in front of the tv as I did last night
It's the farmers' market on this morning, so I'd better go and get dressed.
Have a good day everyone. :wave:Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
PP: Ooh any more beaks yet - I am very jealous as I would love chickens (and a goat) but OH refuses.
...... (he also refused a 2nd budgie but that was soon ignored when cute and fluffy bobby arrived and now he and derek sit on the curtian rail screeching all day)...
JW1096 - 3 saturdays in July? There's only 5 as it is - 3's over 50%. And how many exactly is your boss working?
Had our BBQ last night as OH will be working tonight. He's driving for a wedding at 10.30 (!) this morning so I've promised him if he walks into the centre of Urmston village with me to help carry stuff I'll treat him to a sausage barm. Well, he needs to come in anyway as he's buying me some flowers off the market for our WA.I'll put the washing on later as well so it can be out whilst the hottest part of the day is going on. Made some more HM lemonade last night as well with my new £9.99 blender - got the cheapest I could as I only burn out the motors....... I'll also see what's on special offer on the market too food-wise. Bit annoyed today as well as I was outbid on e-bay last night for some clarks sandals - well, I did only bid £2.50  and they went for £2.61  - so near........
Don't forget your sun tan lotion!!!!! :A
Do you know, I think we're going to come in under budget this month - famous last words :rotfl:But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -
Morning all!! :hello:
As I write this I'm sat in my parents' front garden in the middle of the Peak DistrictNo noise except for that of the sheep, my puddy tat (who misses me loads and adores it when I come home!!) and the singing birdies
As I'm not at home, and my OH has gone to some stupidly rich friend-of-a-friends house in order to watch the football from his pool  I am safe in the knowledge that I will have no housework to do when I get home tonight :T
I got a bit sunburned yesterday - my friend set up his own marketing/promotions business with funding from uni, and found out yesterday that he has won his first major contract - worth about £10k in profits(!!!!) - which for a 20yr old student aint bad, so we spent most of yesterday celebrating with him in the Peace Gardens and I delayed my trip to the parents until evening, but I am now lobster-coloured and a bit sore on my back
I'm not going to be able to watch the England match today ad I'm off to Stoke-On-Trent to see a matinee of CATS the musical - I saw it when I was little with school and it was brill so I'm really excited!! Plus I'm going with my best friend from Primary School who I haven't seen for a few months so it'll be extra nice :T
Glad to hear that some are feeling better and more positive todaybut :grouphug: to those who require it!!
Good Luck England!!!! Lets start winning lots of people money back!!! (I will be refunded the cost of three England shirts if we win the cup!! :rotfl:

No more beaks yet. There's chick fever in this house. Let the children off swim club this morning due to late night last night, but they were up to see the chicks, about 5 mins after it was too late to go! Don't have the heart to send them back to bed.
Please ask your OH to stop screeching, and get down from the curtain rail!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Morning All
quite an OS and a money saving day for me today:
am just back from three days away so the house is the usual mess waiting for me to clean it up.
need to do a quick whipe round with my microfiber cloth ( oh they have changed my life by making dusting so much easier )
then the kitchen and bathroom both need a deep clean - well a wipe over with stardrops : )
theres two loads of washing to be done but at least they can dry on the line. i need to bake a pie, a cake and at least two loaves
need to do the weekly trip to tescos - i go weekly instead of paying for home delivery as its where i get my weekly tank of petrol too. Really HATE going at the weekend when the whole world and their kids are their but have no hoice this week.
Then this eveing we are all out for a barbecue at my sisters to celebrate her birthday. Usually i cook steak for 6 of us on a saturday night WITH two bottles of wine - so going out tonight is a real treat for me and my pocket!
Of out to have a cup of tea in the garden before it gets TOO warm
enjoy the sunny weekend all

Good morning all!
I've posted on a few of the other OS threads and been reading this thread for quite a few weeks now but have never found the courage to join in, even though you do all sound lovely.
Even though I was planning a little lie-in this morning. I was up and about at 7am this morning. It was just so warm and sunny. Funny how I find it so difficult to get up at 7am on a weekday morning to go to w**k, but it's so much easier at weekends when I don't want to get up early.
Me and BF only moved in together three months ago, so I'm trying to get us into a good routine early on!I make a meal plan each week and stick to that, which helps me do the weekly shop. I also find that making a shopping list before going to the supermarket helps me no end. Since my previous efforts at cooking were extremely poor (I used to pretty much live on pasta at uni
), I bought a couple of cookery books and each week I try at least one new recipe.
BF is going out to watch the football this afternoon. Let's say, I'm not exactly a football fan! If he was at home, then I'd probably watch it with him, but there's no way I'm sitting in front of a TV by myself watching the England game so will find something else to do.
We've had croissants with ham and scrambled egg in for breakfast. BF is going out at lunchtime and won't be back until after dinner tonight, so just me to cater for later. Not sure what I'll have yet. Will wait and see what I feel like.
Anyway, better stop writing now as I think this msg is getter quite long! Am off to empty the DW. I also need to hang out the first load of washing and put the next in (four loads in total today..haven't done any washing since last weekend).
Catch you all later.

Morning everybody
Lovely to see a continuing influx of newbies - welcome to Penelope Penguin (this is getting v. confusing, think we've now got about 4 people called "PP"!) and nic82.
Well as ever, my plans for a quiet night in went slightly to potcos everybody was going to the hotel next door to my office to watch the match. I didn't stay too long, but was tired and tipsy enough to mean I got not much done after getting home! Also had to supply a friendly ear to my colleague (who lives near me and gets the same train) re her marital problems - her kids are similar in age to me and my sister and brother, and now that they're all grown up, her husband is resenting her sudden freedom to have a life
I have told her we can go out for a natter sometime in the next week or so.
Anyway I've been quite productive this morning so far! Last night I got 2 loads of washing on, one of which is now on the line and the other is "finishing off" in the TD as there are some things I will need to wear in the next hour! Another load (bedding) is now in the WM. I've got my summer clothes down from the loft, and need to do a stock-take of what still fits
Am cooking up some pies to re-freeze for next week's lunches, as I got some bargains at Sainsburys last night and didn't have ANY space in the freezer! Best bargain was 4 packs of 4 muffins for 20p each (i.e. 5p a muffin) - handy as it will give me all of next week's breakfasts (at 2 muffins a time) and keep me out of mischief i.e. no spending on bacon sarnies!
I am off to a house party this afternoon in North London, which I suspect will start off as a "ladies in the garden and blokes in front of the telly" affair. It's a lovely day for it and I just need to work out which bottle of wine to take with me. I'll be drinking in moderation both because of the heat and because this evening I'm off to a concert (big surprise)
When the pies are done, and the WM has come off rinse cycle, I'll need to hop into the shower so I can be out of the house within about an hour and a half. Oops, just remembered I said I'd drop off housemate's dry cleaning. Must leave time to go to the DC's on the way to the station.
Glad to hear you're feeling better this morning PP (that's Penny-Pincher!!)
