'Morning PennyPincher, morning everyone
I'm up bright and early to make the picnic for a day out. It's youngest daughter's birthday tomorrow and we are picking up eldest daughter from uni and all going out for the day.
We are having a thoroughly OS picnic. OH has made breadrolls and yesterday I put a gammon in the slow cooker. Last night I made mini muffins. So along with lots of salad, HM dips and anything else I can think of as I raid the fridge and freezer, we will have lots to eat.
Have a lovely OS day everyone!Enjoying an MSE OS life0 -
Good morning PP, applemint and everyone else,
Cant quite believe im up this early on a Sunday, but i woke up, and once im awake thats it, so thought i would make the most of this lovely weather and get some washing on!!!!
Have DSs football presentation this afternoon, we are going to walk over so that i can have a couple of drinks (if i want to) thats the good thing with private clubs, they tend to sell drinks a bit cheaper!!! I dont drink a lot, the odd glass of wine, and im normally here on my own, so it will be nice to have a drink with others!!!!
Have quite a lot to sort out before we go though, DSs room looks like a bomb has hit it, he got everything out of the wardrobe (not the clothes, but he keeps lots of books and magazines in there)for me to sort out, and i think its a bigger job than i first thought, so after my shower in a minute, im off to do that!!!! Only having to do a light lunch as us mums are doing a buffet for the presentation so im not sure if or what i will do for dinner, as i expect to be out all afternoon.
Taplady - my mum (or rather her other half) rang last night, had a chat with him and her about what we have all been doing, but no mention of the argument at all!!!! One day we really should speak about it, as it is the one thing we do fall out about, but with us going on holiday next week, i didnt want to dredge up the old argument as they had made the first move, no apology, but i wasnt really expecting one!!!!! At least we are back on speaking terms again, which is good, and i will ring her tonight like normal.
Hope everyone has a lovely day, and enjoys this lovely weather!!!
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -

Morning All
Its been ages since I posted on the daily thread but I have been here reading every day and following the daily lives of my fellow OSers.
Loads to get done today as I have just returned from a week long work trip overseas. First load of washing is in with my first ever attempt at home made laundry goop. I spend over half my life in hotel rooms and suddenly realized how many free soaps I can get my hands on. Most of them arent cheap stuff any more either but branded stuff ( usually American) so I decided to start picking them up and putting them to use. Am even contamplating unwrapping them, putting them in straw filled baskets and flogging them at car boots etc.
Have four ebay parcels to pack today. Does anyone else HATE doing this as much as I do?
Lamb chops for lunch today and the big excitement of the day is that we have just dug the first of this years new potatoes from the garden and they smell divine! Our mint is growing out of control too so will be using that for the mint sauce. Top that off with one of black saturns yummy peach cobblers for pud and thats lunch taken care of.
If weather holds, Will be walking the dog on the old hills this afternoon, then spending the evening updating my menu planner and meal idea lists. The week I have just had away meant a lot of time free - so I spent it on the pc searching for frugal meals and recipes on the net. Found LOADS.
Well thats about it from me. I hope the sun is shining where you are and that you have a lovely Sunday.

A quick good morning everyone. I am off to car boot before church so will do longer post later. Been missing hearing all your news. I have had school inspectors in the past week and have been so busy at work. Can relax a bit now and enjoy catching up. Have a lovely day everyone.0

Morning all
Cat - Enjoy the presentation.
Jockettuk - Hug to your little one - I remember the itch.
Shez - Enjoy the paddling pool, I think I might get a small one for my DD's this year - we've got a 15ft swimming pool but can't fill it this year with the hosepipe ban.....a couple of buckets of water in a paddling pool would go down well though I'm sure.
PP - Enjoy your child free afternoon....my DD's come back later - missed them dreadfully.
Prudent - Enjoy your car boot....we're just off to one too.
Just waiting for hubby to emerge from bathroom so we can get out to a boot fair then it's a bit of food shopping and then sort out the packing for tomorrow....
Have a wonderful day all."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
:hello: Good Morning all OS'ers
Lazy morning so far following a very busy day yesterday! Didn't get home from the smoking session until very late eitherNever had homesmoked food before and even though it's a while since they have used it, the food was successful and the promise of more smoking to come
One of the men goes mackeral fishing, so another session is planned for a mackeral-smoke-athon in the next few weeks, can't wait
Last minute organising of schoolwear/bags to do today ready for back to school tomorrow, got my checklist ready:rotfl:
Passed a couple of 'yard sales' on our travels yesterday, stopped to take a brief look, but nothing of interest this time. It's interesting to see this aspect of the US taking off here.
B: Hm yogurt with honey, oats and sultanas
L: Leftovers with orange and red onion saladChicken in lemon sauce, new potatoes, HM coleslaw; trifle
Still need to do 20min whip round but have managed to hang out some washing.
The only car booting going on here will be the clearing out of mine. Yesterday at footie practise, I rediscovered the picnic rug, but after a winter stuck in the car, it could do with an airing, plus I need to organise the cool box, now the sun is showing some strength, so it's ready for shopping trips.
Wishing you all a stressfree Sunday~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Morning everyone :hello:
PP - have a relaxing day!
jockettuk - your poor DD! At least she'll get to miss a couple of days of school
Everyone else: have a very relaxing day at the car boot sales and in your gardens!
I'm up semi-early today (well, it is a Sunday!) because OH and I are having our banns read in our church. Needless to say, OH is not awake yet!
We had a lovely time with my parents in London. We stayed just on the bank of the river, had a lovely meal and saw my dad get his Freedom of the City of London. The family (ie my dad, mum, brother, me and OH) got directed into a room, my dad had to declare to keep the Queen's peace and bob's your uncle, he gets a certificate. Over and done with in 5 mins!
Whilst we were there, my mum wanted to go to an exhibition in Goldsmiths Hall so that she could have a nosey. Then we walked over to St Paul's Cathedral where we were going to look round until we found out that they charged £9 per adult. I have no doubt that it was worth it, but that would have been £45 for us all to not see very much as there were SO many people! Next time we go to London, we're going to try to look out a discount - I know that they have to keep it standing, but !
OH and I also went for a mooch round Sloane Square and Knightsbridge. We had lunch opposite one of the entrances to Harrods and OH spent the whole time trying to "celeb" spot as there were far too many expensive cars. In the end, the only "celeb" that we saw was an actress that used to be in Casualty, who was actually having lunch in the restaurant that we were in! :rotfl:
Anyway, I'd better get ready.
