Good morning everyone
Not been on here very much in the last few days as having computer probs
No work today so really need to get motivated and get something productive done.
So far one load of washing is in the machine and should be finished soon. Have another 1 (possibly 2) to go.
Have all rooms to clean/tidy/hoover - really should start this soon or it will never get done!
Had a bowl of cherries for breakfast. My god they were great. So juicy mmmm
Yesterday I was in Marks & Spencer and they were doing 3 for 2 on schoolwear so I snapped up three pairs of trousers for stepson for a total of £12. Its hard to get him trousers that fit as he has quite long legs but is as skinny as a rake. He really needs them with back elastication to keep them up and most shops stop that around age 8 (he's ten). Also Morrisons were doing insulated packed lunch boxes on 2 for £5 so got a couple of those as well. School only finishes next week for summer hols so doing well with the new term stuff already :j
Had a bit of a bombshell dropped on me as well yesterday. I was talking with my mum about my hubby's aunt who was really his aunt's daughter but was brought up by her mum and dad as she had her when she was young when my mum informs me that my aunt did the same and my uncle who I thought was her brother is really her son
My mum seemed under the impression I knew (dunno how seeing as no one had ever told me). I was a wee bit upset coz now I am like what other family secrets are there but also my aunt now has three other kids and I don't think they know that their uncle is really their brother and one of my cousins I am really close too and now I am worrying that any time I see her and the uncle is mentioned I will go all weird?!?! Do you know what I mean?!?
Anyway I have rambled enough...... was quite good to get that off my chest tho'.
Hope everyone has a good day and good luck to those doing the flylady challenge. Havn't read the thread yet but will probably catch up later.0 -
Morning all
I'm in a bit of a daze this morning so please forgive any errors!
I now have DH home all weekend instead of having peace and quiet, he managed to fall down the stairs at work last night and has cracked a rib, he toddled back from A & E at 1am and came up to tell me what had happened and why he was home, he thought he'd better as he was worried that if I woke and heard noises downstairs I would come chasing down with a baseball bat and he would end up with a cracked skull as well
So as I am the family alarm clock we all overslept this morning and I still have to take my parents shopping. My hair needs washing badly but it takes forever to wash and dry as it's so long but luckily my friend over the road is going to take DD to school for me.
I swished and swiped before bed last night, just a few little muddles to tidy before I leave and then some things to take down in the cellar when I come home.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Oh sky ((hugs)) try not to put too much importance on the 'family secrets' after all, "a rose by any other name, still smells as sweet"
I can empathise with the shock, there were a large number of family secrets revealed to me when my mother was dying, but ultimately, when you appreciate the way society was at the time those issues became 'secrets' it's not so shocking after all.
Have another chat with your mum and ask her if your cousins have been made aware of the situation and if it's now an open subject or not. The thing about 'secrets' is that it is really up to the person who owns the 'secret' to decide when and if that 'secret' becomes shareable; although life is such that they tend to sneak out and bite you on the bum when you least expect it. But as you now have an open communication on it with your mum, discuss it with her. Best of luck ((hugs))
Essex - have a wonderful time at the Circus tonight :T :T :T
Michelle - sounds like you could do with a ((hug)) too!!
Chipps - enjoy your weekend away
Bathroom now given the once over; all kitchen sides wiped down; beds and house all aired; BM set up ready to be switched on when I leave for my appointment shortly.
Then it will be a sprint around the shops before lunch.
Must phone the library and renew my books at some point too before the morning.
Catch you all later ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Morning everyone
skystar, your post really got the grey cells working this morning. I was half asleep when I started reading but trying to work out who was who woke me upAlso, thanks for the nod about the M&S trousers. I rarely go to M&S but my DS1 especially is also a long legged rake so not having to alter trousers would be great
I'm glad I caught up with my ironing. Got DS1 all ready for school, sent him out to wait for his lift and the other mum shouts "it's own clothes day" Luckily he was changed in matter of seconds, in something presentable.
This morning I want to catch up with a bit of the FLC. Will 'swish and swipe' the bathroom, give the dining room and lounge a quick going over and I can tackle another room properly. The hall I think as I have a large plate rack which definitely needs everything taking down and washing. It's also the room with all the doors off so loads of architraving to wash down (including the landing it's 14 doors ) That should keep me gpoing till a week next Friday - good job I have lots of stardrops :rotfl:
Need to pick up and deposit some more of Mr TM's stuff at dry cleaners, change DS2's bed again! and jiggle stuff between WM and TD (it's wet here again) Also have to drop mum's walking stick at hers, although I'm sure she has another one at home. How could she forget it, that's what I want to know? Mr TM must have helped her to the car when he took her home.
Ok, going to get showered and dressed now and on with my flying. Have a good one and ((hugs)) to all in need.

Ticklemouse, my post was a bit of a ramble so can't blame you for getting confused.
I don't often go to M & S either but I had acquired a £2 voucher from somewhere so popped in for cherries and noticed the offer. It only started yesterday so would imagine it would be on for a wee while yet.0 -

Queenie, thank you for your comments. I suppose I am just in shock a bit and luckily this board is good for just getting feelings out. After writing my post I strangely felt a bit better about it and realise its not really my place to start dragging up something that happened nearly 50 years ago!
Anyway I really won't get anything done by being on here all day0 -
Morning :hello: ... Skystar I sympathise ... had a similar one dropped on me a few months back ... My dad's cousin (brought up by my dad's aunt) is really his half brother from before their mother was married ... It explained a lot, but apparently it was common knowledge in the half-brother's side of the family and they always assumed my dad and his brother knew! ... TBH it didn't surprise me too much to have such a secret reveal itself on that side of my family - I'd be flabbergasted if anything like that came out on my mother's side! ... TM, we'll have a chat about next week once Nelski gets back from Prague
... Moggins, hope your DH isn't in too much discomfort with his rib (and that he doesn't get under your feet too much if he's off work
) ... Can't wait for the weekend as it's my LAST DAY IN THIS JOB (even though the department I'm moving to have STILL not given me a salary offer
) and I have NEXT WEEK OFF WORK :j :j :j ... Hope there's still some asparagus in Tesco's or M&S or Elsey & Bent as I want to make another yummy risotto before it goes properly out of season ... Got home very very late last night because of transport problems, then was up till nearly 3am browsing ebay
... Didn't bid on anything though
... Anyway gotta go ... Loads of filing to do ... See you later ... Rzl

Morning all,
Feeling drained this morning. Got to bed at 1, dd up at 5 ... ah well, the joys of parenthood. On the plus side, she managed to choose her clothes and dress herself, played nicely with her fuzzy felt and with a little "encouragement" put it away afterwards (not bad for a 2.5yr old methinks).
FLC - not a hope in heck today. My priority in my work day is to source some veg from somewhere by tea time.
Two unexpected loads of washing last night (DD's bedlinen) .. so best go hang the 2nd one out, 1st one went in the t/dryer.
Thankfully I have 3 mattress protectors, several duvets, covers and plenty of sheets! However, I am going to ensure I have the spare duvet to hand with a cover on it, as making beds at stupid o'clock is wearing.GC - March 2024 -0
