Eggs - float an egg in water, if it settles at the bottom and rests horizontally then it is really really fresh. If it settles at the bottom but is vertical then it is ok to eat. If it floats - don't touch it with a barge pole!!
Groundhog Day - tell me about it
DD currently sitting on floor bawling because she is tired, but refuses to nap. Leaving her for two mins to get on with it! Oh she's stopped - apparently she wants to draw me a picture. 2.5yr olds - donchya just love 'em!
Not FL - but I am now going to rip this office to pieces and clean it - it's pigging. With the amount of plastering DH is doing - I give this about 30mins of being clean - but I am going to bin some of the junk - less to dust then! LOL.GC - March 2024 -0 -
Hi All
Not having a good day. On a big downer. Work's getting me down as is my private life
Need a break I think. It might make me more positive about working.
Been down to the tennis to get my press pass for later in the week.
My dog's at the vets. He's having an operation in his mouth to remove some lumps which might be his cancer come back
Hope everyone's ok.Comping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
Hello all,
No cleaning here today. OH is home with his whiplash (knocked off his motorcycle on Monday). He came home early yesterday saying he'd been up to the hospital as his ear was tingleing and they'd sent him home from work. He was told to take a couple of days off ,then he walked out of the hospital and banged his head on a tree in the car park ,so had to go back in and have a stitch in it.
This morning I went out to get some carrot seeds so I can sow them where the garlic and onions are just about to be dug up. Its a good time for buying seeds as nearly everywhere has them reduced now.
Then I went into sommerfields and perused the fruit and veg for reduced items and came home with some tomatoes for 50p. Cant wait till our own tomatoes are ready.
I even remembered to take a bag of the kids old books and a couple of footballs up to the charity shop. They have been sitting in the living room on the floor for about a month waiting for me to take them. 2 more trips and I should have cleared the pile.
Im going to see if the water in the solar shower is hot enough to wash my hair in a moment ,so far Ive had about 6 showers from it but only 2 have been hot enough for hair washing.
Keep busy everyone

Gosh that made me laugh out loud, but then I felt really guilty for laughing at your OHs misfortune...
Got distracted by one of those discount catalogue stores when I nipped to the PO earlier and bought myself a 3-tier Tefal steamer for £18 (reduced from £36)... hope it works OK but it's got a 12-month guarantee so I reckon I'm pretty safe!
Just had a phone call from work asking if I'll do a shift for them tonight as the sale is on and they want an extra person to cover it... it's only 4 1/2 hrs but thats £23 for doing effectively nothing (as I will make sure I do!!! :rotfl:)
Anyway, best dash - done about half of my list but my time has suddenly decreased and I'm guna have to get a move on!!

Afternoon all,
Hope the cleaning is going to plan, I myself won't be par-taking of this challenge due to my house already been spotless..:D:rotfl: :rotfl: Well thats my excuse, other namely my OH may disagree.
Had DDs speech therapy meeting this morning then lunch with my mum and now watching the fashions at Ascot on the telly. We managed to go last year (ladies day) as it was in York and not too far away from us but could'nt justify spending the amount we did again this year.
DDs transition day tomorrow for big girls school, I just don't know where the last 4 1/2 yrs have gone so that will be exciting for both of us. DS (15yrs) went to the same primary school and all the other mums now look so young meanwhile I'm pushing the zimmerframe in the play ground, even the teachers are younger than me by at least 10yrs..
Anyway have a lovely day, take care

No such luck. I didn't know two children could make so much mess with hand prints!
Its not until you start this challenge that you realise how many doors, door surrounds and walls there are to get dirty!
Cleaned all the way down the stairs and stairway, bannisters and spindals.... thank the lord for cleaning wipes.
It looks so good now. Very pleased with myself. :j :T

Am absolutely shattered! was up at 5 and started to worry about the tax credits and couldn't get back to sleep! I rang them and its not as bad as it seemed(but still bad enough!)They are still going to pay us about £95 a month and will be taking back the overpayments over several years!:j and not all of it either!
The girl on the phone tried to explain how they came to their figures but I hadn't got a clue:rolleyes: dont think she did either:rolleyes: she admitted she often went home with a migraine from the stress of it all!
Have bought DS1 a jacket for his leavers ball and we have gutted his bedroom:eek: 3 black sacks,2 speakers,1 scanner, 1 keyboard,1box assorted computer parts and various other rubbish later it looks half tidy!(till he goes back in there:rolleyes: )
Have made 4 chicken pies, one for tea the others for the freezer and all this on my so-called day off! back to work tomorrow for a rest!;)
Have a nice evening all!Do what you love :happyhear0 -
I understand about filling black bin bags - every year the first week of the six week holidays - much to the delight of my two children - we go through all their toys and clothes and get rid of so much stuff... all to recycling or the charity shop. I don't know how it mounts up.
Lasagne nearly ready, hungry children to feed. The most vital time to relax is when you don't have time for it.
