Hi everyone
I haven't been around much the last week, what does the fly lady challange involve please? I'm guessing it doesn't involve whipping up a super-fast rice pudding, which is the sum total of my mornings work:o
I am in a real quandry, my maternity leave will be up next month,..........
EDIT : I have moved this bit over to the families board as suggested. If anyone has a spare 5 mins I'd appreciate some OS opinions?

Hi everyone!
Hope you're all going great guns completing your FLC....mine'll have to be theoretical as am at work but will be watching your progress. You're all such an inspirational lot.
As for me I've had a very productive weekend as well as catching up with various friends. Managed to get all the usual jobs done but have also made my sister an elderflower cake for her birthday which I'll decorate when I get home tonight.
We went to a local country produce fair yesterday...lots of lovely foodie bits to sample and we were given two low energy light bulbs. Also found a fuschia which the chap promised me is indestructable [it'll need to be if it's in my "tender loving care" I'm telling you!] for £2 which would have been £6 at the the garden centre I'm quite sure.
Looks like I've missed the boat with the elderflowers this year as have just been too busy but put the lemons to good use in HM lemonade along with the cuttings from my lemon balm on Saturday.
Everyone around me seems to be moving at the moment...went to see my friend's new abode on Friday which is absolutely lovely. Unfortunately it's brought out my material girl wailing "I needs a new house. I wants a new house" However, from past experience the feeling will soon pass [can't afford a new house anyway and we'd have to get a new mortgage which would be a shame as we've only got 10% left to pay off]. Anyway I've decided to harness the feeling positively and change my house....this is my OS version. I've swapped the hideous doormat that was in the hall for a far more respectable one I found hidden in OH's shed and I've painted half my garage floor!!! I know how to live:rotfl: :rotfl: Oh well...onwards and upwards. Incidentally I've managed to get my material girl back in her box and secure it down with heavy duty parcel tape. She is not welcome on the OS board!!

Afternoon
... Not got time to post much so will catch up this evening, when I will be on my home PC and my formatting will be working ... Lillibet have you thought about posting your dilemma on the Families board? ... Have received another text from PP, she's not been too well tonight and this morning, but they have been playing board games and her DH and DD have been swimming ... her DH has been to Tesco and spent £10 on a £19 shop thanks to vouchers :rotfl: ... they think they're going to spend tomorrow in York ... Gotta go, report due out this afternoon, more from me later

Hello all
I'm knackered before I even start my own FLC. Having been to mum's and done her cleaning, I'd just like to sit down, but what made it worse is that due to her leak, she has huge dehumidifiers and fans going in her bedroom and living room so it's about 95 degs and soooo humid in there. I came out with a banging headache
Anyway, I've just been to Lidl's and picked up one of their garden hammocks which will do for Mr TM's birthday pressie or wedding anniversary pressie. He's only said this morning he wanted one and as I'd decided to get one, thought I'd better snaffle one before they all went.
So, am just drinking a fortifying glass of water and am about to FLC my bathroom. Given that I started a day early, will that do, please miss?
Other than that it's a sausage casserole for tea, with pots and veggies. In fact, must put it on now, while I think about it.
Catch ya later people.

Well I'm only here as I'm busy scanning in old bank statements (mainly for reference) from 1990's. I know I don't need any older than 6 years but better to be safe than sorry. Since I'm scanning them I can shred the paper copies which will in turn save me space.
Done FY97/98 and currently working on FY96/97 - thankfully I only opened my account in November 1995 so I haven't alot to do. Going to do the same with my credit card statements. I don't really need to keep them, so I'm going to scan them in and then shred
What an exciting life I have :rotfl:
I was going to spend tomorrow working on a household inventory BUT my jeans have just tornYesterday 1 pair tore a big hole in the underneath where my thighs rub slightly and today my other pair has done the same, fortunately its only a small tear and I should be able to "hide" it for now. However, this means a trip to our local Matalan to search through their clearance bit to see if they have any left :mad: If not I'll have to go and buy some fancy ones. George/Asda never seem to have my size in (in anything!) only bigger or smaller
so I'll only go there if I am desperate which I may be. I am NOT looking forward to Matalan as their clearance section is MASSIVE and totally disorganised, makes me want to strip all the rails and set-to on sorting out the kids from the gents etc
:rolleyes::rotfl:
Better get on. Load of papers still to scan. :rolleyes:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -

I'm going to York tomorrow. If you're in touch with her, tell her to say hello if she sees a penguin in town, clutching industrial quantities of stardrops and microfibre cloths.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Sounds like you'd be quite recognisable then PenPen :rotfl: ... I've passed on your message (as I'm sure it will make her giggle!) ... I miss York

I am in a real quandry, my maternity leave will be up next month, work have agreed to my returning 2.5 days a week as per my request..........BUT........
I am not sure if I want to go back
I am not sure if I can afford the childcare & cost of running a car
Since stopping breastfeeding I am having "monthly issues" of the very heavy debilitating kind.
Pros :
Would force me to get organized like I used to be. I miss being organized but I seem to have left my motivation back in the labour room!
Would put me back in the company of adults who don't talk about babies all day & I miss my colleagues
would be a good reason to get out of jeans & joggers & into something a bit smarter (ohhhh.......shopping trip!)
Would be easy to moderate my diet back to healthy 3 meals a day rather than unhelathy & snacking as it is now.
Is town centre based, could get chores done in lunch hour
Work is very generous in employee use of franking machine, phonecalls, stationary etc.
Would force hubby to stop taking me for granted at home (will become an issue before long otherwise)
Cons :
I don't like my job
I don't like my boss
Childcare around here is expensive. I would need 2 days (mum is OK for the half day) and nurseries are upwards of £62 per day
Skin has been horrendous since stopping breast feeding, some times it's better that I don't have to go out as I would scare small children with plauge like symptoms! Plus I don't really want to go out looking like this when it's really bad! Also worried that monthly issues would result in need for sick leave.
I have the permenant loan of a 20 year old car, it is a bit wobbly & I am worried it would fail before long with regular use but I would need it to work & use childcare (no public transport/car sharing option). Low salary would not justify buying another car.
Would be boarderline on breaking even with increased costs of working etc but we are going backwards at the mo, all be it we have a slush fund to cover monthly defecit for a good while yet.
Any help/opinions please?
Thanks
:grouphug:
i know its not much in the way of advice but the consensus ive gathered from reading the stories on this site is that, one way or another, people manage. reading your post, it sounds like you really do not want to go back to work. there's no right or wrong in this..only you, hubby and george know whats best for the lillibet family and its a decision you need to make between you.
why dont you start a separate thread on the families board, so that we can help you explore all options fully, so that you can make an informed decision. perhaps you may be entitled to some sort of benefits as a SAHM, or perhaps there are things you can do to earn a living from home (forcing you back into routine yet allowing you to be there for george).
start at thread, and ive every confidence that you will be inundated with help and advice.
chin up and keep smiling - your SAHM days arent over until the fat lady sings
