    Evening all!

A fairly boring day at work as usual, our new uniforms arrived and I have to say im thoroughly unimpressed by them. There is a lot of pink and I wouldnt describe myself as a 'pink' kinda person.

They also appear to have been designed for ladies with a waist and more up top than me :o (think boyish and athletic, the trousers are baggy round my hips and bum, but the waist band is cutting off the blood supply to my legs :o It will be an interesting few weeks getting used to it anyway. I kind of wish id ordered the largest sizes in everything so i could have dismantled them and used the sewing machine to make them custom fit  ) I also felt a bit bloated and uncomfortable anyway so when I tried on the uniform I felt even more unsexy/trendy than usual! Im going to email the director next time and ask him to let me design something!

:D ... Jo I approve of the plan for an extra day off - does that leave you working 4 days a week or 5? - I know you do often work Saturdays as it is ...

I will be working saturdays still, however, im cutting them down to so I only do a max of 2 in a month, have a day off in the week, and sunday is my housework day anyway. It will leave me working 4 days a week and the odd saturday as I feel.

Jo - ouchie! Hope the nail varnish washes out and your finger isn't too badly injured.

Yeah, the cut is about an inch long and miraculusly managed to get most of the varnish on my clothes instead of in the cut and on the sofa :rotfl: Fortunately it was old pyjamas and I got some freebie plasters from savlon about a week ago and im certainly glad as I had no other plasters in and these are super dooper waterproof, breatheable, sticky enough to stand up to work and not fall off, whilst not too sticky to take skin off with plaster, and apparently contain a secret ingredient to heal cuts faster. They work fabulously, so Mr Savlon now has my plaster business in future!

JW1096 - Jo would just like to say you have really inspired me with yesterdays post. I actually work from home but tend to do work when its piled up - housework then gets behind so I do that then paperwork then gets behind and I do that and so on & so on. I have now decided to give myself poper working hours and have one day off probably wed which will be my day - Im not crafty myself so it prob will be shopping or beauticians etc or just laying down and reading. Weekends will then be for the children and I wont begrudge them for taking up 'me' time so thank you as it has given me a push in the right direction.

Im glad! Good for you! The thought of time for my projects and wants without the usual guilty feeling (hmmmm..... I should really be doing the dishes etc etc) is going to be really enjoyable and I think very worthwhile. Even a saint needs to unplug the phone and lock the doors to polish their halo once in a while ;) I hate to use the work/life balance phrase, but I think a lot of people seriously underestimate its importance and really need to spend time doing something for themselves - as the alternative is simply existence.

Anyway :o , enough of my postulating (I have a habit of getting like this when ive given my brain time to focus on more than work, cleaning, sorting stuff out - it borders on the rediculous at times)! I think im going to hunt out that sewing machine I seem to have distant memories of purchasing from ebay and give it whirl - wish me luck!

    Jo xx

People always say that a lot of money wouldnt change them, but I reckon, if I had enough to quit my job and live as I do now, id never be bored, the small wrinkles that are forming would dissapear without the aid of surgical enhancement, id become a philanthopist and save the world.

Edinburghlass-Sorry I have caused offense to you, but I have always referred to myself as being a crip as I am:D;) Surely I can call myself whatever I choose:confused: I accept your apology on being pendantic though.

Oh by all means call yourself what you will but but the terminolgy for a disabled badge or facilities is exactly that, disabled. :)

A good friend of mine is in a wheel chair and therefore is officially classed as disabled however like Penny Pincher calls herself a "crip" which we all used to raise our eyebrows to as it did seem to derogatory to herself. After a while we realised though that was her way of saying she couldn't manage certain things but that she still had a sense of humour and was not so PC as to need to call everything by the official term. Penny Pincher I hope you have a really nice holiday and that the facillities are ok for you and family.

    Good evening everyone,

Just got back from collecting DS and DD from a 'backwater cooking' trip where they took burgers, and a banana with chocolate to bbq on an open fire!!!! They have come home very happy, tierd, dirty and smelly!!!! Being lazy (and wanting them to go to bed before x factor) ive decided they can have a bath and hair wash in the morning!!!! Mind you DS has a football match, so might leave him until after that!!!!!
Whilst they were out, i sat down with a lovely glass of the red stuff, tv off, and read a bit of my book (a Cathy Kelly girly novel!!!) which was lovely. Well it was until the firm that are meant to be taking us up to Gatwick next Friday rang, to tell us they have double booked and arnt sure if they can take us now  Think i will be going into the travel agents tomorrow to kick up a fuss, i booked this back in January, and a week before we go isnt a good time to give me this news!!!! Nothing i can do about it now tho, but maybe another glass of red stuff might help!!!
Did have a lovely time in the garden today, it will never be a show piece, but im feeling pretty pleased with it at the moment, its looking clean and tidy, and i noticed some green strawberries have started to appear, i just hope they will still be there when we get back from holiday, ive surounded them with broken egg shells, and think i might find some netting to stop the birds getting to them as well. Did see a huge slug heading theirway, but unfortunatly (for the slug) my spade accidently made contact with it, and it became two slugs in a flash!!!!

Edinburghlass - your picture has got me all excited, our dolphin swim is booked for the 14th June (and we picked the tickets up today!!!) and we cannot wait!!!!!

Jo - i got some of those plasters, glad to hear they work well!!!! hope you have located your sewing machine!!!!

Right, off to pour a glass of wine, HUGS to everyone,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Me neither! I have a friend who is severely disabled and has also referred to herself in the same way, it is her way of coping (and rebelling me thinks) ;)

Have a lovely holiday PP! I am off myself tomorrow (I know again:o ) this time with dd for a girly break! Take care everyone!

    Morning everyone

Fingers crossed we all have a beautiful sunny day today - it's certainly a promising start here in NI with a lovely clear sky.

I've got caught up on my washing from my little holiday, plus all towels and bedclothes. It's great - not as great as Nikki as I haven't quite talked myself into ironing anything yet. My kitchen and dining room floor got the Stardrops treatment yesterday too. Just a (big) pile of filing to do, and I'll be all caught up on everything.

You'll have guessed that today is a slow news day in the land of SnowyOwl - there is nothing to report! Happy Saturday everyone.

  • Morning Snowyowl :hello: and all to follow

What a glorious morning!! WM is on, should finish in about 20 mins so I can hang it on the line :T

DH has gone fishing he left at about 6.15am and won't get back till it's dark :D DD has had her brekkie and is currently playing on the xbox (only till I've got bathed and dressed though :naughty: )

Hopefully I'm going to get her paddling pool out today (I think I'm right in saying hosepipes are only banned from watering your garden and cleaning your car - but filling a paddling pool should be okay  ) Whilst she's playing in there I'm going to sand down the garden furniture and give them a lick of paint. I think the house is going to be a bit neglected today in favour of the garden ;)

    Have a great day everyone!!
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)

    Morning Snowy

I slept quite well last night and feel a little better for it:D

There is 1 washload to do today and the sun is shining, so should be able to go out on the line. Toilet cleaned and DW emptied. House is spick and span thanks to the clean it got yesterday.

Not really doing alot today. OH has said he will mow the lawns and DD can help him by pulling any weeds out etc. He has to go to the PO this monring as there are about 7 parcels to send off and some cheques to pay into bank. Received our £50 cheque back from Barclays for the price guarantee/match they were doing on car insurance.....cheapest ive paid in 5 years!

I must complete my essay this weekend, but DD & OH will both be out tomorow afternoon so will aim for then. OH bought me a new book called "Attonement" and if weather permits and I have the energy, then I may go and lay on the hammock thing we have in the back garden with some pillows and flask:D

If I have the energy later, I am hoping to list about 10 items on Ebay as I have so much stuff to get rid off and things we need to buy with the money:rolleyes:

DD has just come down, so I best be off.

    Breakie:Toast and Dairylea
Lunch:Jacket Spud, Coleslaw, cheese and salad
    Dinner:Egg & HM Chips

Will catch up later. Hugs to all.

    PP
