When will the poppy be removed?

I dont feel I can post anything constructive during the period where support for the british war machine is ongoing.
Can someone please tell me when it will be removed?
May be you ought to find out a little more about 'Poppy Day'. After all it's because of the sacrifice of those people that are remembered on poppy day that you are able to air your views openly. :mad:0 -
NASA, during WWII the British fought against my country. That does not mean that I disregard the memory of their dead soldiers, any more than I disregard that of our own.
The military of all countries lay down their lives because they are told to. If there is any blame for this loss of life, it should be laid at the door of politicians, not soldiers.
Well said

My opinion is, how do you know you ever posted anything constructive, a rather conceited presumption.
I feel especially with hindsight that all those who have died in conflict should be remembered regardless of their nationality because they were at the end of the day someones loved one.Woofles you need to get out of that house. You are going insane:eek: - colinw
apologises for spelling mistakes - google toolbar and I have had a hissy fit and I've lost me spell checker.0 -
Martin would you please consider leaving the poppy where it is until after the 11th November ? Although Remembrance sunday is taking place this weekend we still have the 11th November to show a mark of respect for.
Tragically every day more lives are lost, by showing respect and marking the occasion, is not "supporting the war machine" but letting our armed services know that we are behind them and support them (not the politics or policitians of this situations). It is also respecting those that have laid down their lives so we can live as freely as we do today.
So i hope the poppy will stay until the 11th NovemberBrendan's new dance partner...please0 -
You might also have to avoid any thread with my posts in it, until I edit the avatar again.
There are some over-reactions on this subject. I was told off a couple of years ago for posting a picture of a field with some red but mainly white poppies in it. The place shown was part of a battlefield at Gallipoli.0 -

It is in honour of the troups of this country who have fought over the years - those who stoody up to Nazi-ism in world war II, those who have helped peace keep around the world and those serving now.
Regardless of views about the rights or wrong of any specific conflict, the poppy shows our support of the individuals who are putting their life on the line. It's probably also worth being aware that one of this site's main charities is help for heros (see MSE Charity fund)
MartinOk, thanks,I'll be back on Monday then.
I find it hard to understand the principles involved when a person wont post on a site that shows a poppy, but will continue to post only after thesite removes the poppy, but continues to donate a large amount of money from its revenue to people involved in 'the british war machine'?
The poppy is nothing to do with government policy, its about remembering those who have lost their lives through war.
I too would like to see the poppy remain until the 11th."Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye" - Miss Piggy0 -
For The Fallen
With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres,
There is music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;
They fell with their faces to the foe.They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years contemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England's foam.But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.Laurence Binyon (1869-1943)PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBT NERD #869Numpty,Not sure why but I'm crying. Of all the peeps on this board you're the kindest & most supportive of all & I'm :mad: &
