Obi - you seem to be somewhat of a MSE celebrity these days. I'm worried that with your new found status you'll no longer want to be one of the Debt Assassins, you might want to go it alone on a lone crusade for fame, glory and vengance???? The Debt Assassins need you!!!!Debt Free Nerd No. 89, LBM: April 2006, Debt at highest (Sept 05): £40,939.96

Right you 'orrible lot, straighten up, put down those credit cards, and budget sheets out for inspection............
Hi everyone, sorry I've not been around much, I'm not kidding it's been crazy!! Shops not too busy, but day is spent building website etc, and I haven't got a connection at the shop (I'd spend all day on here if I did), and night is a mad whirl of cleaning, tidying and ebay/amazoning. My junk sems to have tripled, and as LB is moving in in a few weeks I'm stuffing things into cupboards like a nun whose just heard Mother Superiors on her way. Then we'll have all his junk too....[groaning and holding of head in hands]
How did I end up with all this stuff???? I've never been one for spending, and the house just seems so FULL!! Some of the more... um.... interesting things I've found: cigarette advert poster, bag of dolls shoes, Space Jam video, 2 tiny weeny Bang on The Door mugs........ where did this rubbish come from? There must be a portal to another dimension in my home, and the alternate universe are using it as the town tip. I never bought any of this stuff. Honest!
Oooh, I must see this mention of my humble wittering int he Arms, I'm getting all big headed and celeb-like now. Is this the bit where I fall out a limo drunk and flash my pants to the conviently situated News of The World photographer? Or where I go on holiday in the most skimpiest outfit and have the rest of the world commenting about my thighs round the water cooler? Cool.
Hmm, some tips. Lets see... (sound of cogs whiring and grindingto a halt, accompanied by a distressing burning smell)...
aha! Batch cooking, always a fave in our house. I basically cook everything Sunday for the week, couple of dishes at a time. Then I just have to make sure I defrost it night before, and then just reheat when I get home. advantages - a) oven in our home only gets used once a week (got to be a record) and b) readymeals without the expense. We get an organic veg box once a week, and if I don't do this, I end up with loads of manky veg by Tuesday.
Tip 2) We're all scurrying around, cackling over our spreadsheets and mutilating anyone who even so much as looks at our £2 coins. This is all fine and dandy, but if the rest of the family are still spending like it's going out of fashion then it's like trying to get an MP to behave themselves. Make sure the family are on board DFW wise. Have a family conference, and try to get the whole family involved. Get the kids clearing their rooms for a carboot sale (tempt them with a cut of the profits), ideas for using up food in the cupboards or just giving ideas for cutting spending. This will be excelelnt training for when they're let loose on the world.
Well, I'm glad you guys missed me, I missed y'all too! I have been working on a frightening new spreadsheet, that makes NO sense to anyone but me (cacklecackle) - sign of a good one is the blank looks you get when showing it to someone else. It shows how long after getting debt free we'll have to save to make the minimum we need to emmigrate. If I actually get the £3,600 I want the Toad From Hell to pay me back and call in some other debts, I'm looking at 9 MONTHS TIL DEBT FREE!! That's amazing. Pity that it's going to be impossible to get that amount of money from a [STRIKE]man[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]beast[/STRIKE] unclassifed that won;t get off his bum and get a job, and is happy enough living on 8p noodles and not going out of his room. Sigh. If only life were like my spreadsheet............hang on, that would make a great song. Anyone got Robbie William's number? This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!
Current Pay Off Target : £1500 :mad:0
