Obi - you have my sympathies with the attic. We've started emptying ours out too - it's all TRASH up there!!! We're aiming at finishing it by the end of Feb. The charity shops round here will have a boost in donations!! Now to pick your brains...you know the pin thing you mentioned on your computer that doesn't always 'take'. Do you know if you can get replacements? Mine is b*ggered too!
BTW - 20 something is totally young!!!0 -
Ok... the pin thing *puts on techie head*
This will depend on if it's the pin in the laptop that is loose or the connector in the cable itself. Cable: Easy - buy new cable
Laptop... not so easy but MIGHT be fixable - however unless you know your way round hand laptop to professional to fix it - it MIGHT need soldering if it is fixable... Totally depends on the laptops unfortunatelyDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

On my old computer i could just put a 'kettle lead' on it..oh how times have changed:cool: :rotfl:Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
Thanks MrsTine - we replaced the lead which did have a break in it but it's the connector on the lap top that is loose. DH opened up the computer but realised it was a big job he didn't have time to do right then so he put it back together. Funnily enough the computer worked fine for a week but it seems to have gone loose again. He said he thought it needed soldering and he can do that so maybe I need to give him my computer for a few days to sort it out.....i'm getting withdrawal symptoms already. I was hoping I could just buy something to 'fix' it!! Thanks for your advice xx0

I have my uses
As DH has discovered - even pregnant wives have uses... all our cravings are bearing unanticipated bonuses for husbands! Like danish waffles at 10:30pm in the evening, Scones with jam and cream at 4pm on a monday afternoon and Ben & Jerry's icecream on sunday nights at 11:15pm lolDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Yup, tried it. Have had a bag of chamomile the other night, friend gave me a sachet in my birthday basket and despite tasing like a bunch of flowers in hot water seemed to help me relax.
When I had Alyx I went off coffee, with Ash I went right off both tea & coffee so must be making up for it now. Even DD says 'Mummy, you work on tea don't you?'. Hmm. Definately time to cut down, when your kids think your veins run with Typhoo. Well, Asda Smart Price. I am a MSE'er after all.
Did every have a good, cheap day then? This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

lol @ Mrs T and her mad cravings. Where's the decent cravings like coal & mayo, prawn flavoured Angel Delight and watermelon with peanut butter?
Muddy - That's the problem on ours - local (pants) shop told me the pin was loose and would cost £70 to fix. Hmmm. Still works if we wiggle the lead a bit, and prop it up on a remote/book/hubby.
Still, my degree with OU starts in May, and apparently I'm elegible for a grant towards a new PC, so hurrahs all round. This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

I had a weird craving a few months ago... dried prunes... DH has however banned me from ever having them again... I could have gassed most of the scandinavian super mosquitoes all on my own! Seriously! Birds were dropping from the sky!
Well not so well on the no spend days... Spent £260  on flights to Denmark for friday - not much choice - Granddads funeral and I want hubby home with me this time - partially to protect anyone annoying me in the airport but also to look after me in my current waddling state bless him
Oh well... will have to do lots of ebaying to recoup that £260 (+car parking + dog sitter + diesel to the airport) *sigh* so much for putting away savings AND over paying debts this month then...

aha! So you ARE waddling!!!! Sorry about your grandad.
And what is this gadget of which you speak? We're training DD to use my DS, she's loving 'Mum I Did It!' at the moment. That way we've a) got an easy idea for xmas/birthday/treats/bribes and b) keeps her quiet whilst Mummy checks MSE....This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. I have a nifty little thingy that allows me to insert a micro sd card into a cartridge the same shape etc as a DS game... I then have a usb stick in which same micro sd card fits and a magical site I can get the games from
One of my neighbours found them and is selling the stick/card/cartridge for £25 (ok he has a mark up but he does bulk buy them to get the price down) and then he puts games on the cards for people at £1 game (apart from me who is his financial advisor lol me he gave the magic link so I can go get my own games mwarharhar)DFW Nerd #025DFW no more!
