Love your tip Obi - i'm going to make a start on my list. I've cheated slightly though - 'clean kitchen floor' is on there but DH is replacing that on Friday and Saturday and a new floor will already be clean - one thing ticked off without me doing it! :rotfl:
Good luck with your OU course - i'm like you. Once I start I'm fine but I can put things off until the proverbial cows come home. I really must go and study now!!!
Mrs Tine - hope you feel better soon xx0 -
lol @ mudbath - I see your little green light lady.
That's a great idea - maybe that's why we're going for this new house - so I get off cleaning the housefor a week. Saying that, the new one is a rental, and has been empty a while, so will need a total clean from top to bottom. Bring in the industrial tub of bicarb, and pull the white vinegar tanker round the back.....
Update on said house - the estate agent called OH's work today to get the reference off his boss, but he's not in today - they wouldn't do the reference if they were not going to go ahead on the credit, would they? WOULD THEY??!! Argharghargh the suspense is killing me.This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Cheers Trikes, just getting 'the credit-check jitters' lol. One day I won't need to worry....sigh....This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Well maybe the days of the landlord having absolute power are gone (at least for a while), they would know they're on to a good thing anyway because your a family and obviously not prone to moving every few months.
They may snatch your hand off hun, if its been empty a while.;)DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

Well, good arvo chicklets (both solvent and...*ahem*...less so)
I've been to the shops with my kiddywinkies - it was really nice. I spent nada (although I was tempted!) that I didn't need, and by 4:30 the kids are both in bed totally zonked lol! We just walked around shops we don't usually go to - I'm pricing up how much it's going to get started doing dressmaking again - and DD was super-good. We got home and put a cake in the breadmaker (highly experimental, results in tomorrows post!), and have basically been playing with the kids on the rug most of the afternoon. I can't be the only mum who isn't too sure if they play with their kids enough?! There's always the laundry, the cooking, the cleaning, but hopefully doing a set schedule for those things will make sure Saturdays don't turn into 'Mum cleaning while the kids amuse themselves' sort of day.
Tomorrow planning on taking them on a MSE day out - packed lunches and a tour of the local parks. Luckily my good friend Fran (inventor of the famous Fran Plan) is similarly money-conscious, so doesn't think it odd that I pack a thermos rather than rely on spending £5 on a latte in a polystyrene cup.
Mr Obi had a shok yesterday - he's all set to go before the panel to get his roleplay/wargaming store up & running, and the estate agents told him the unit he was after has been let! So if he wants to go now, he's the choice of an odd shaped unit in a similar position, or taking the one next door; double the space but double the rent! So thinking caps on.
Not sure if you've seen my other thread, but I'm planning on asking for my CCA for my biggie, with a view to seeing if it's enforcable. I've been making regular payments, but have worked out I'll be 58 when it's paid off. So hopefully I can at last get it reduced if not gone for good. So here's hoping Regal Credit haven't got their ducks in order, and that Barclays don;t help them out. They shouldn't do, as Barclays have already told me they have straight-up sold it. So nowt to do with them anymore, right?
Fairly good news on the house - agent will confirm Monday, but looks like it's gne through. Woohoo! I MUST get my credit report, so I can stop worrying. I'm probably putting stuff on there in my mind thaat doesn't exist! So tentatively making moving plans, starting the pile of lists you need etc. DD has decided her room will be purple - that's her sole contribution to the whole New House thing.
So all's good in the Obi household - even got the kids sorting out the penny pig this arvo - starting them early!
My tip for today is especially for those of us who work at/from home - if like me you suffer from notime-itis start making a schedule. Plan your day and make sure you put in a treat if you've got something horrible to do (like taxes or cleaning the toilet). Makes all the difference, and should hopefully make you feel like you've acomplished something, rather than just floated through your day 'pottering'.This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Love your tip Obi - as someone who works from home I alternate between working / studying all hours and no time to myself to trying to avoid working / studying all hours and still no time to myself....I need a plan!!
Wrap up warm for those park visits!! xx0 -
Wow good luck with all of that Obi, fingers crossed for absolutely everything.
Hope the day has kept well for you and kiddies at the park..sounds fun.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
Hey bob, yeah it was fun - apart from an unfortunate flask explosion leaving me one thermos down! Weird, poured in the coffee, and turned away to talk to Fran - a godalmighty bang and a shower of glass. I'd been looking right into the flask a few seconds before it exploded - would have got an eyeful of glass, so very lucky there!
I've done all my own scheduling, even put in some free time lol. Hopefully that will help me get back on track and start ebaying the mountain of stuff in the loft - should hear about the new house tomorrow so it needs to be done, and if we don't get the house it should be a good kick up the jacksy to get rid of it.
So, did everyone else have a nice cheap NSD (cos I did - smug vibes - *ahem* first in a while)This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!
