Hooray after nearly two weeks with no sales have finally sold one - just a CD for about £3 but better than nothinglarmy16 wrote:After reading up on making Kefir on the Oldstyle thread, it seems that books on this subject go for very good money, so keep your eyes open and peeled!!:)
OK Larmy, never heard of Kefir but have googled it and it doesn't sound too delish but I'm sure it is. Apparently you have to be careful where you store it or it could explode! Seeds of Health have a good site about it and there are worldwide online communities where you can get the ingredients...... The things I don't know about
If I was to come across a book about it though will certainly snap it up
Cheers

Just got this from a seller that I left negative feedback for.
Sorry it's so long but what do you think?
Hi Matthew, I have left a response to your unjust negative feedback in my feedback list. The possibility to respond directly under negative feedback straight to the Feedback list is a new and useful feature on Amazon, but I felt that a personal response was also necessary,as the response is limited to 400 words.
To reiterate,it is common practice for Amazon Marketplace sellers to edit their prices. That is why there is a facility for this on site.If we didn't do this,we would never make a living,(slim as it is in most cases!),as 75% of my listings at least would become obsolete within a fortnight.I have over 3000 items, books,cd's and a few DVD's and videos listed, and if I didn't "undercut" as you so derisively put it,I wouldn't have an earthly! The American sellers do it as a matter of course, often within a day,and it is often a case of getting a lower price in and hoping that someone will buy in the interim.I sell, on average,4 items a day,and as a one man operation, though my partner does the packing, editing prices is the most arduous task.As soon as I've been through the lists,I have to start again at the beginning in order to compete with the other sellers who are doing the same thing.
It is not an easy option being an Amazon seller, but I do it because I enjoy books and music, and am also a collector.
Finally, you broke the Amazon rules by not contacting me before sending negative feedback, and I suggest that you respond to this email at the very least, and hopefully withdraw the feedback, which has brought my 99% positive feedback down to 98%.
Less than 30% of buyers send feedback at all, which gives you some idea of the volume of items I've sold over the years, but it is a useful yardstick regarding the credibility of a seller.I have managed to maintain that credibility and hope that you will respect that by withdrawing the feedback.
Apologies for my slip-up,but I did refund you immediately, and hope that this email gives you a better understanding of the situation.
Respectfully Martin Brown.
Hi Martin,
I am sorry I didn't contact you before hand but I still feel I would have left the same feedback.
I myself have over 2000 books on Amazon. I don't undercut as this causes a downward spiral. A book was listed 4 weeks ago at £11.99 and because of undercutting it is now down to 1p. This will either mean the seller will create a loss or they will never send the book out. Every time someone undercuts, they devalue the marketplace.
I myself have twice made the mistake of listing a book that has cost me more to send than all I have received. I have taken this on the chin, and so be it.
If you use the Amazon forums, then you will know that it is frowned upon to undercut for these very reasons.
I have been unable to list some books because there are 1p's on Amazon, and I know I will make a loss. The truth of the matter is that most of these sellers will never send their books, and will cause people to lose faith in buying from marketplace.
I therefore will be leaving the feedback as it stands, and hopefuly you will revise the books you have and change accordingly. If you can't send without making a loss then no one can. If you price correctly you will get the sale when the people below you refuse to send the books out.
The day you contacted me to tell me you weren't sending me my book, you were the second person to do so.
When a marketplace seller gets enough negative feedback no one will buy off them and it will stop people undercutting for the sake of it. I am sure they will then start putting more realistic prices on their books in the first place.
I know you will not be happy with this response, but I feel that it is justified.
Yours sincerely

I think you were fair and reasonable in your response. All sellers probably make this mistake at least once in their 'careers', what separates the 'men' from the 'boys' is how they deal with it.
A 100% or 99% seller would have taken the loss on the chin and delivered the goods. A lesser seller will chose to refund - and the reduction to 98% reflects this.

Good response, Matt.
Maybe next time the seller will think about his costs before he just automatically undercuts another seller and then realises he can't make a profit on the book!
Surely a seller with that much experience should have sorted his pricing out better.Bet the fact that you're also a marketplace seller rankled with him though.

I agree with jo_b, if you didn't know that the seller was so experienced you'd say that it was a newbie that hadn't realised what the postage costs can be. It seems so odd that he was reducing and undercutting without keeping an eye on the weight.0

I've just taken delivery (well I collected ) my first bulk book purchase today. Have spent all pm listing those that I can and throwing those which aren't worth it (will take them to charity not bin them). I now have a pile which I either can't find on amazon or will not list and as I've not got my ebay shop up and running yet (that's an August job!!) All in all it's been a good experience and if I sell just one of the goodies!! I will get back my expenditure and more. Hope everyone is not low cause of the England defeat - keep those sales coming!!!!
Go Murray (well we have to cheer for someone):beer:0
