I bought some second hand books for my OH as we are off on hols soon and he likes books for the plane. Out of interest I checked them on Amazon..and one is apparently out of print and rare and there are two other copies, one in the uS at £112 and one in the UK at £40, so I listed it at £25 just to see if it would sell. I haven't told him yet, I just retrieved it from the pile waiting to be read and added it to my stock room......
So, is there any etiquette for explaining to a dearly beloved why he can't have the book I bought for him?

Well...I could blame the budgie, but I doubt it will be believed....
Really though this just highlights that I have no idea what sells and what doesn't. This was just a book I bought for 40p, I wouldn't have bought it for Amazon as it didn't seem the type that would sell at all.
Fingers crossed it sells I could do with another Amazon 'sold' email.

I think that is the same for many of us. You do get used to a few titles that you learn to know are 'dead certs', or 'penny dreadfuls' but after that it becomes a bit 'hit and miss'.
I have found that books that I buy for OH sell well on Amazon at fairly good prices. I just say that it has been listed 'read it quick', whilst it's being read I do price it high so that if it sells I know I will be forgiven. When it is returned to me after being read I then reduce the price to a realistic level.
A buying tip (which I hope works for you as much as me) is that if the price on the back cover is in dollars it is usually not a penny seller and usually worth buying.AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0077 come and join us :hello: make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the ebay and other auctions, car boot and jumble sales board.0 -

Just wondering whether DVDs sell better than videos? Anyone got any theories? Also which ones are the ones to look out for?0

I've never tried to sell a DVD so can't speak from experience. However, there seem to be so many fakes around, that I wonder whether people would be more wary of buying? It would be interesting to know how successful others have been.0 -
Does anyone know what a fep is? As in:

I sell quite a few DVDs, and as always disneys sell well. I find these much better to sell as they are a lot cheaper than VHS and books to post.
Not sure if there are any that sell for loads, but as always, the more unusual ones do good. Mainstream action/adventure/drama - forget it! (althought I did sell a copy of The Thing the other day for near £7 which cost me £1.50!)0
