selling your stuff on Amazon - part 5

  • Can I ask, How do you get feedback? I've sold quite a lot of things over the past 3 weeks but not a single bit of feedback received?

Buyers don't always automatically leave feedback on Amazon the way they do on Ebay - some do, but not many. Most of your feedback will come about 28/30 days after the sale when Amazon send them an emailed reminder to leave feedback. Feedback rates tend to be 20-30% of sales depending on the seller.

The email from Amazon looks something like this (although all the formatting has been lost in the cutting and pasting):

    Dear ccchhhsssnnn,
Congratulations on your purchase from nnndddkkksss on 05/04/2006 06:21 PM BST.

  • Thanks again for the Hot 100 tip. I recognised one in the '3 for 50p' box at a local charity shop and have now sold it a few days later for £1.50!!

Ooh, I didn't realise buyers get a reminder to give feedback so late! There might be a chance for poor old 'new seller' me then... :)

Thanks Funkymonkey - I've learnt quite a bit from you! :T

I think this forum is just great. AT has done a super job providing good information and everyone is very friendly. I love the fact that nobody 'blasts' anyone - just 'cos they've asked a question that has been asked before.

Thanks to everyone that has made me feel so welcome

We all try to do Martin's mission of being nice to money savers :money:

The thread is almost a year old now (july) and there are a number of clear groups of users of this thread

the oldies that have been popping in and out but are set up and don't really need to ask anything, we see them occasionally,

then there are the regulars who also have been here for ages but post with joys and triumphs

then there are the newly set up posters who are still flushed with excitement

then there are the newbies who need to know things that the first post doesn't cover - I've tried to anticipate a lot of queries in the opening post and added a few links but that post is near the character limit of 15000 (I think) so everytime I add a bit then I have to edit a few words out

The thing is all the first groups will happily help the newbies because they've done it and mostly know the answers - having a 'real' bookseller along that has clearly spent more concentrated time looking at the 'backstage' workings of Amazon can do us all nothing but good and I know that we'd all like to say that you are most welcome here and long may you stay.

My first Amazon sale in a long while today and within minutes of it being relisted for the 3 rd time!

    Belle Du Jour video.

I've had another good week with books on ebay as well. I have lots up with Best offer option on and yet people BIN them outright...long may it continue.

I was just appearing to say something similar

spurred on by the fact that ebay shops are free for the first month, I opened one last weekend, and put lots on and all best offer option and several have already sold without an offer being made - ive made enough to pay for fees for one month, so im happy to keep it going for the moment to clear the clutter

now to list some of the lower value amazon books on there
See the stars they’re shining bright
    Everything’s alright tonight

Having a great Amazon week and have sold five items this week which is great as I was off to a bit of a slow start in the beginning. I'm well chuffed with how all my stuff is going and I'm earning lots of debt clearing cash in the process!!!
My mantra is "Never pay full price!" ;)
