nice one, sounds like it could be a good day for you! Maybe you should list that £57 book for £38. If it sells it will cover the cost of all 13 boxes - lol .

    Great stuff

Yes it is, here :- http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/3149641/ref%3Dcs%5Fhd%5Fhd%5F2%5F3%5F3/202-9092030-7660623

"To be eligible for a refund, you must return your item to your seller in the same condition you received it, and the return must be postmarked within one week of receipt. Postage charges for returning the item are borne by you."

Right, but that just says what the buyer has to do to be eligible for a refund. It doesn't say the seller has to agree to the refund in the first place.

Maybe funkyfunkymonkey is right - i.e. it's due to distance selling regulations. It strikes me as a bit unfair really. Buying from marketplace is not the same as buying from Amazon itself. I'm not selling as a business - I'm just getting rid of a few private possessions. I'll end up out of pocket over this, even though I've done exactly what's required of me as a seller. All because some twit doesn't even know what DVDs he already has.

I am still under the impression that distant selling regulations do not cove ANY postage costs. Would I be able to claim petrol when returning items to Tesco?
  • This amazon page has a question about having to refund and it gives the answer as yes you do - it stinks really but there's nothing you can do about it. The only consolation is that he's paying the return postage.

I've sold over 700 items and never been asked for a refund so I think that you were unlucky

I had to refund in my very early days of selling, when a like new book I sold was returned for "stinking out the house, smelling of mould"! I still have that book and have asked several people's opinion and they say its fine, so I must have been really unlucky!!!:)

I wondered if they read it over Christmas, because the post was all higgledy piggledy at the time? Wierd experience.

    :hello:
  • A word of warning for anyone new to selling on Amazon. I placed a freeview box for sale on Amazon and duly received notification of a buyer. When I contacted the buyer I got what appeared to be a genuine 'sold, despatch now' confirmation of payment from Amazon but it turned out to be fake.

Always check that your item has been sold through your 'manage your orders' screen on your sellers account on amazon - don't simply trust the emails.

Amazon have a page on this scam at:

  • Hello, I've read with interest this thread, but was wondering whether there are any merchant sellers out there? I'm wanting to sell some stuff which isn't already listed on Amazon and I think that the only way to do this is through a merchant account? (I take it previous posts aren't merchants?)

Does anyone have any experience of selling through a merchant account / amazon store - i.e. success, fees etc?

Thanks for your time and have a nice day! :D
