I don't want to cross post, but I posted in the basic bank account thread about my problems opening a BoS easycash account and how I ended up with three of them. If you're having problems with the online application, just because BoS tells you they don't have your application doesn't mean that they don't have it.0

Credit check in a basic bank account context, means ID, address, and CIFAS check. No credit scoring is needed.
You only need one piece of ID to open this account (applying by post - can't open in branch). Alternatively, you could apply for it online.
you need TWO pieces of id actually, online i applied for one they send you something in the post requesting information after you applied, took quite a few weeks to get this response it does say on website it will take longer than 7 days due to huge demand. My Signature is MY OWN!!0 -

Looks like they changed the rules then.
I remember when I got the application pack a few years ago, the leaflet about ID says send one piece of ID.0 -
I have been on a few ryanair flights lately and likely to go on alot more. I'm looking at getting an electron card for obvious reasons and have come accross the post office travel card would anyone recommend this one?
Thanks Dave0 -
I would opt for the Halifax Easycash account. You get an Electron card and best of all it's free!0

There was an article on BBC Moneybox on Sat 28th that some suppliers are phasing out Electron: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8384034.stm
For anyone waiting or struggling to find a provider urgently - why wait? I signed up for and loaded up an Entropay card and bought the flights within 10 mins. Cost: £3 Saved: £40 (so £37 saved)

Of course, it's better to avoid the "loading fee" of Entropay if you're buying loads, but for one-off emergency purchase it's great.0 -

"the exchange rate we use to convert the payment or withdrawal to sterling will include a conversion fee of 2.75%. We will also charge a fee of £1.50 for each payment or withdrawal."
(see the PDFs on http://www.halifax.co.uk/HelpCentre/tandcbrochures.asp)
Example: You buy a Ryanair flight to Stansted. Ryanair usually charges the price in the currency of the airport you are starting from, i.e., in euros. A 5€ flight will cost £4.50 plus £1.50, making £6.00. I know, not a big deal, but I once bought a computer program for my mobile for $1 and ended up paying more to Halifax than to the programmer...0 -
It was bound to happen one day
Ryanair to charge for Electron use
