Where to get a VISA Electron card?

I have a Bank of Scotland Cardcash account, which has a VISA Electron Card.
It says it's only available to 16/17 year olds but I'm 45 lol0 -
Two points -
Co-Operative bank agreed with VISA that their existing set of VISA Electron card numbers would in future appear on VISA's sytems as full VISA cards, so it's a change up at VISA not the Co-Operative, and takes effect even without a new card.
This was however NOT forced upon Co-Operative by VISA, it was a commercial decision made by Co-Operative Bank.
Well Thomson still accepted it as being a Visa Electron card when I booked a flight at the start of October and did not impose a credit or debit card charge for using it.
If the card is now meant to be a Visa Debit card it would be absurd for Co-Op not to imeediately replace it as it cannot be used as one in emergency situations where a retailer's online connection goes down or at some obscure stand at a county fair where a clank clank card machine is then still used.
Also clank clank card machines with vouchers are stil widely in use at small retailers in the USA and are even still used by people like Legoland as a way to take a returnable deposit on their Q Bot machines. My now supposedly Visa Debit card won't be supported by any of those for as long as it is still physically a Visa Electron card.0 -

Serves me right, next time I should read the whole thread on MSE! Anyway, a really friendly chap at the cancellation dept said it was Visa who pulled the plug and there was nothing Co-op could do.
I have now applied online to Halifax and await with anticiption! Will keep you posted...
Okay, I received an e-mail from Halifax this week with my unique username and then a letter in the post (delayed, of course, due to the postal strike) with my password. The account took 3 minutes to activate and is fully functional. I now await the Visa Electron card in the post.
So, not as speedy as some of the other users' experiences of opening up a Halifax Easycash Account, but definitely worth the effort in the long run :j0 -
Did you get an email confirmation when you submitted your application to Halifax?0

UPDATE: Halifax Easycash Visa Electron card arrived by post on Thursday, 29 October, so it took 17 days in total. Happy days0 -

Yes I did. But not immediately. The website says that due to heavy demand, the e-mail confirmation may be delayed. I applied on October 12 and got the e-mail confirmation on October 22!
But after that, it took just a week for everything else to reach me0 -
I've not tried this out yet, but the "barclays gift card" looks promising!!! www. barclaysgiftcard.co.uk0

Credit check in a basic bank account context, means ID, address, and CIFAS check. No credit scoring is needed.
You only need one piece of ID to open this account (applying by post - can't open in branch). Alternatively, you could apply for it online.0
