  • I have a Barclays Visa Debit card and I just booked an Easyjet flight. I decided to try selecting Visa Electron and entering my Visa Debit card details as normal. It worked fine!

Got the confirmation of my booking and saved £3.50. Try it.
  • Advice on saving money on credit card charges by using Electron (simongregson, this column) remember that the credit card also protects the user in the event of losses on purchases over £100.00, so when buying flights, holidays, and other expensive items, especially in this more 'bust' than 'boom' period. Be sure to remember that, and first check to see if Electron gives the same cover.

I read that if you cancel the PO Visa electron there is a £5 cancellation fee, if you keep it there is a £5 annual fee to use it.
  • Alliance & Leicester no longer issue Electron cards. They said that only the Halifax will now issue cards. Checked on 19 Jan 2010

I got myself a Post Office Travel Card Visa Electron ages ago incase I wanted to fly Ryanair, but I haven't used it. Can I check balance and transactions online if I use it in the shops to buy goods ? Thanks.

well ryanair says they are now charging electron users and changed it to a mastercard type one.

Yes I read that so I probably won't need it now.

You still avoid paying card fees with Easyjet, FlyBe and Thomson by using Visa Electron compared to an ordinary debit card.
  • OK thanks for that

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton
