  • Last week I was tempted to do a tesco online shop and ordered a litre bottle of Whyte & McKay whisky at £15.
When order came it was marked out of stock with NO substiution. They had substituted a brown loaf of bread for a white loaf (similar value) so I was not chuffed that they had not subbed the whisky. They also took off the £5 voucher I had used because the value of order fell below £50. I rang and complained and they sent me a £10 voucher off my next shop.
SO today I got another shop - this time I ordered 2 bottles of Whyte & McKay Litre bottles of whisky - the same offer at £15 each.
Guess what - No Litre bottles of whisky so they substituted it with 2 x 70cl bottles of whyte & Mckay whisky at £12 per bottle. Hardly a good offer. I asked why they had not replaced with litre bottles of whisky - driver thought they just gave same make (thats a new one)
Does anyone know what the policy should be - should I complain or just go back to Morrisons:(

I seem to recall there was another thread about this somewhere. FWIW it doesn't look any different to me.

Hi I shop with Tesco online and for 3 weeks running they didnt bring nappies (tesco brand) and offered no substitution - I rang and was told that it was because the next price in this size nappy was 3.58 more expensive and as I have always bought one brand they didnt think I would like them! Personally I think its cos they dont want to have to not charge me the difference in price. They didnt say but I think shoppers can only substitute items within a certain price range.

This week Huggies are on offer and surprisingly they delived the Tesco nappies as they were more expensive!

It p**sed me off having to get nappies from elsewhere but I still shop at Tesco - got a box of 4 fish this week and only charged for a box of 2 :j

I usually do my grocery shopping at Netto but as they don't sell everything we need I usually end up in tesco's mid week to top up the shop so im currently spending about £70 a week for two of us.

I have seen a lot posted on here about online grocery shopping saving people money as they are not tempted by impulse products.

Which is the best supermarket in your experience?
Where would i find the best discount codes?
and How much are people saving - is it worth it ?
Wins so far - Numerous Glamour and Rimmel Goodies, 4 tickets to T4OTB, Tiling Tools and Paintbrush, Dova Spa Facial, 5 Tickets to Lynx Allnighter (Halloween party)

Thanks to all posters on MSE :T

Hiya, I've used Tesco and Sainsbury on line but prefer the tesco layout and its cheaper. I dont know where to get codes but I know there are some posted on here especially for money of your first shop.

We save at least £10 a week, get a much wider choice than our tesco metro and there is a large range of value items. Delivery starts at £3.50 for midweek so its cheaper than us getting a taxi.

We go to netto for the offers on a monday and thursday as they usually cheaper than tesco then

    hope that helps xx

I normally shop with asda and the discounted / offer prices tot up as you go along so it's clear what i'm spending. I've just started a shop with tesco because have got a voucher for 10.00 off a 50.00 spend but it doesn't apply the discount as you go along. Will it do this when I check out as i'd like to know what i've spent before it's delivered! Any help appreciated :o)

This is what is stopping me from ordering online, i have a little girl and the nappies are the one thing we cant do without so would end up having to go there anyway!

We do our shopping online with Asda, and at the end we always say "no substitutes". However, this weekend they brought everything excespt the 30 budweisers I ordered.........not happy!!

Question is, if you say "allow substitutes", can they replace them with anything they like? Even if it works out more expensive? For example, these buds were £16 for 30, if I'd allowed them to substitute it could they give me 30 Stella's even if they cost £20??

?? I don't understand what you're saying, I said no substitutes, there was nothing in its place.
