Use the myshopping website to add what you need and find out where is cheapest.;)

getting deliveries midweek is usually cheaper and with less substitutes.

I get deliveries every few weeks with the juice, catfood, tinned food etc.

Because I work during the week it's easier than fighting the crowds in the supermarket sat the weekend.

No, but if another company offered exactly the same service as the post office and gave out free stamps when they were late you wouldn't be out of order if you politely asked your postman if you were entitled to one :)

No I still wouldnt ask, I would stick to the most reliable deliveries that are sometimes late because of cicumstances out of there control ;)

Just wanted to add my 2p. I've been a member of this board for less than 24 hours so please be gentle with me :p

First of all, thanks to everyone posting on these boards. With the feedback I've read it almost feels like I've been a member and ordered from thousands of companies. Cheers to you all

Like p-pincher above above, i mainly shop online for non perishables such as cleaning stuff, toiletries, frozen meat etc and the rest I get cheaper and fresher from the local market. I am particularly keen on buying herbs in person as you can see quality and I cook them in volume so buying them online would cost a fortune.

My deliverer of choice is Ocado and I haven't tried anyone else so I can't compare with other companies.

Overall my experiences with them have been Excellent :T

    Best things:

    - Website and Ordering. So easy to see previous orders, offers and product info

    - Deliveries. Always on time, sometimes early (they always call beforehand to ask if they can come early). I think they deliver up to 11/1130pm? My delivery guy even took my rubbish bag out and deposited it into my bin when i asked nicely! Never had any eggs broken, despite one order being for a box of 18!

    - Selection; usually got everything i want even for my Delia and Nigella recipes :j

    - Freebies. They used to give newspapers like The Telegraph but now occasionally slip in sample packs of stuff

    - Discounts. I usually almost always order when they send a 15% discount code (people post this most weeks on the forum, i get mine send via email on Monday mornings)

    - Substitutions. Only happened once with some Muesli and they simply sent another flavour of the same brand. And gave my a little discount off my bill

    Worst things

    - One of the most expensive supermarkets for certain items. I compare and go elsewhere for these items.

    - When i first joined I used to get annoyed there was a £2.99 delivery charge added to my bill just as I enter the payment page:mad: A bit sneaky, i thought, especially when they are charging up to another £5 for delivery during peak times. Solution? I don't order every week, allowing my next order to go beyond the free delivery threshold (currently £75) which also allows me to get the 15% discount with no delivery charge as I now opt for midweek off-peak deliveries (like 12-1pm, Wednesdays)

Can't think of any other issues, I am THAT happy with them. :D My concern is ...how long will they last. According to a recent article (see "Ocado makes a loss but sales soar" by Zoe Wood guardian.co.uk, Monday 22 March - sorry can't post links!) they have never made a profit.

Thanks again to everyone posting :)

p.s. a tip my grandmother once gave me when food shopping (and this works just as well for online purchases). Never shop when hungry.

She used to feed us all before we went to the supermarket :rotfl:
  • Hi

This is driving me potty now. I've shopped online with Tesco for years but have been with Sainsburys for the last 8 months or so. Sometimes, my deliveries have not included items that I thought I'd ordered. They weren't on the confirmation email or receipt and I hadn't been charged but I was sure I'd clicked on them and put them in my 'basket'. I just thought I must have been careless or mistaken.

Today, though, the same thing happened but this time I know full well that I put 1 of the 3 'missing' items in my 'basket' as I double checked that I'd ordered it. It's not on the confirmation email or the receipt but it's a hassle as I have to go to the shop to get it.

Has anyone else had items disappear between the basket and the confirmation email?
  • Do Asda take the money when placing an order online after 10pm or the day the shopping is picked?

    Thanks

I think, from other posts in here, that at the time you place the order they "ring fence" the money (if that is the correct term) so you can't use it for anything else.

Then at the time they send your order they take the money.

I'm pretty sure people have said that they have had orders cancelled and they could not use the money for 7 days days because it was ring fenced by asda.

I don't know what would happen if you placed an order at 10pm tonight, when no money was in your account, but you are expecting your wage to be paid in tomorrow to cover the purchase.

I suspect that if you don't have enough money for the payment at the time you order they won't do the order. But I could be wrong.

As far as I know they authorise the payment on day of delivery, then if the delivery is cancelled it then can take up to three days to de-authorise it.

I seem to recall there was another thread about this somewhere. FWIW it doesn't look any different to me.
